according to indystar.com, pacers are only going after harrington now that they got daniels from dallas and will not pursue bonzi. this is good news for us since it puts those sign and trade rumors to rest and narrows the competition for wells' services.

Yeah but Bonzi is the best thing out there right now. Lets not forget that J.O. called for a Bonzi trade last season instead of peja. I am not saying he runs things but you might want to get players that your all-star wants to play with.

So what if JO called for Bonzi? Of course he would if it's the Kings involved, and they're friends. But that doesn't mean Bonzi's going to Indy, he'll go if we don't want to pay him the amount his agent wants, in a S/T most likely.

They can get Al Harrington as well. Who is a good player and has past connections with Indy, of course.

Pacers may still go after Harrington, but not Wells
Official says the team is not interested in former Ball State star who plays for Kings

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Free agent signings and trades become official today, the end of the league's player movement moratorium period.

The Indiana Pacers, a team trying to overcome a mediocre season last year, can talk about the trade of Austin Croshere to Dallas for Marquis Daniels and the loss of Peja Stojakovic to the New Orleans Hornets today.
Daniels can play both guard positions and small forward. Stojakovic agreed to a five-year, $64 million deal with the Hornets on the first day of free agency.
With only the midlevel exception (about $5 million) and the biannual exception (about $1.7 million) available, the Pacers likely will have to make their moves through trades.
The Pacers are still in the running for Atlanta Hawks forward Al Harrington. It will take a sign-and-trade deal for the Pacers to acquire Harrington, who spent his first six seasons in Indiana. Golden State reportedly also is interested in Harrington.
Contrary to reports, a team official said Tuesday the Pacers are not interested in acquiring Bonzi Wells from Sacramento for Jeff Foster and Sarunas Jasikevicius.
The Pacers have more flexibility in the backcourt now that they have acquired Daniels, meaning they could try to trade more than one of their point guards -- Jasikevicius, Jamaal Tinsley and Anthony Johnson.

This is NOT new stuff. The article, as shown above (thanks, D-Mass) was posted here early yesterday. This is a really active board. If you stumble across an article more than 24 hours old, it's almost a certainty it's already been posted.

Now for the other part...

Subsequent to that article, the Pacers/Hornets deal changed. The Pacers received back a $7.5 million trade exemption for Peja, which is also being discussed elsewhere already.

I'm closing this thread because it's just confusing to people who might think this is new news and not old news.
