Jonas Valanciunas - KING

I'm curious to
Jonas is an impact player; although I wouldn't have thought that the priority for us in free agency (the trade market ) would be investing in the backup to our best player. Domas should play as many minutes as he's able, and if he gets injured, then we start making progress on a rebuild via the injured reserve list.

While I do think Len could be pressed into service as a 10 minute a game guy, JV is quite clearly an upgrade. Domas could take some games off and we'd have a chance to win. Also we have a different gear for the guys that Domas struggles against.

That said, this is a move that raises the team's floor, but it not the ceiling. The ball bounces higher if it falls farther.
After watching Moody take his lunch money, I wholeheartedly disagree. We need size up front to compete in the playoffs.

Call me a hater but if you thought Len looked slow and immobile on defense, just watch Valanciunus ... As I've said I don't think a post up big guy is what the Kings need off the bench, considering their offense runs through DeRozan when bench is in. Pretty much the whole team thrives in a running style too, so how Valanciunus fits at a higher pace is extremely questionable. Kings don't need more scoring; they literally have (4) 20 point scorers already. We'll see how it all fits
Nah, I personally agree with you. I mean if this is what it's gonna be we may as well go back to what we had prior. It's just the first game, but Sabonis is one of the most consistent players in the league with his Points RB and Assist, scoring 18-20+ pts a game and at least 10 rb's and 6-7 assists in almost every game. Tonight he only scored HALF of what he normally does and didn't even score till the 2nd quarter. Monks assists 6-9+ havent even been there in the past 2-3 games,, doing only half of what he normally does. What's the point of extra rb if you can't utilize them? You are right with the 20+ pt scorers... Or well They WERE* Havent seen anything that impresses me at all in these past 2 games. In all honesty.... the team set up before Lavine and Jonas we WOULD have won that game against portland tonight playing the way they were and that's WITHOUT Fox playing . Now maybe they are just trying to figure it out and see the best use and how they will utilize these guys but generally it's Dom with 20-24 pts, Monk or Derozan with 24-30+ and the other with 21 or so and Keegan 16-20 depending (which I noticed he didn't come out the gate and score in the first quarter yesterday like he usually does. And against Magic which he normally hits 20+ every game against them) . I see they picked up on that tonight and let him do his usual. But I can't remember Dom having only 10 points. I feel they didn't let him play as long as they should have. Give him his avg. points of 18-20 pts and add that to the score and you'll see we WOULD have won that game! No i don't think he needs to play 40+ minutes but damn... he didn't even play 30mins! Sorry I responded and ranted to your post. It's just you made the only comment I actually agreed with. I don't think it's going to be as great as everyone thinks. I have a knack for reading into some things and feel there's going to be TOO much change. Kings were doing fine lately. Great actually... They had the longest winning streak this year. And gave alot of big teams a run. Yeah Dom needs some rest time in the game but he's too good to just be sitting down for too long. He's the Kings Tyrese Maxey. Crazy how Maxeys full potential comes out when Embiid isnt playing. Same thing here. I just feel Monk, Dom and Keegans potential are going to be held back a bit from what they are able to do due to the new lineup. The goal is to KEEP the potential going and ADD to it. Not take away from it, and while he does need rest. Dom is too good to be sitting for almost half the damn game. Hope that's not gonna start to be the norm, because it honestly cost them the game tonight. Anyone can say whatever they want lol

Wasn’t his time limited last night because of foul trouble more than anything else?

Young JV, 11 years ago.

A lot of Lithuanian basketball fans are pretty upset about how Toronto "developed" JV. Young JV was tall, long, nimble, very high motor for a true C. Coordinated. 32 years old JV is a bit... different :) On the plus side - nasty screener and exceptional rebounder.
Earlier I tuned in to watch some heads blabbering about Zach, JV and LaRavia. Wasted couple minutes of my precious life. With the regards to JV, everyone agreed that he was an "upgrade" over Len. Sure, upgrade. Upgrade that has an impact and makes a difference. Prior to this season, in previous 12 years in NBA, JV in regular season played 856 games, started in 827. Played in 58 play-offs games, started in 51.
All in all, Kings have maybe second best NBA C as a starter and best back up C. Rock solid Cs for couple more seasons for sure.
