[Game] 51/82: Kings @ Portland Trail Blazers 06 FEB 2025, 7pm PT/10pm ET

This is just a middling team. If this team fails to make the playoffs maybe then we will see a complete rebuild.
Bro I don't want a freaking Rebuild. Why is everyone so excited to rebuild. Have you not been a kings fan last 20 years? That's all we do.

We are not getting the next LeBron james. This is a good team. Give us time man

it should also go without saying but the Blazers are also randomly playing like the best team in the league over the last month to the point that their GM decided to just stand pat for some reason and not sell high on any of his teams vets.
I get we’re Kings fans so depression and existential panic are our default settings but sometimes these games happen.

Lyles was quite bad tonight, I thought staying after the deadline could boost his morale. Missed many open shots, didn't do much in the defensive part as well. Works better as "small 5" against smaller centers, but as a wing not so effective one. He is like HB, but coming from the bench, has some good matches here and there.
He’s been bad for most of the year outside of a hot stretch. If he’s not knocking down 3s at close to 40% he doesn’t have much value on offense. Defensively he’s a solid team defender, but he has physical limitations that make him probably a below average defender. Looking forward to Valanciunas and LaRavia pushing him to the 5th big.

I am willing to give the team some time to figure things out on offense, but we are going to have to go through play-in if we want to make the playoff.
The fact that the Kings are even in that window is a luxury with how poor the season started. Play like this every night, get a little more offensive flow and they have a shot.

LaRavia isn't a big. He's a wing 3

They look like a team that just met each other. It's not just adding Val and Lavine; it's also the subtraction of Fox and the elevation of Monk in his new role. It could take several weeks to really get the offense down. Currently, it's a lot of iso ball with little synchronicity and not nearly enough assists.

As an example, LaVine and Sabonis are not on the same page currently. If LaVine is receptive to coaching, I can see him making Sabonis better and vice-versa with the pick and roll. In these last couple of games he's not using Sabonis screens properly and Sabonis is compounding the problem with moving on his screens. Hopefully, with coaching, diligence and practice they can complement each other rather than just play independently of each other. I can see LaVine making everybody around him better if he puts his mind to it, but I don't know if he's the kind of player that is happy with just going out there and hooping or is willing to make an effort to improve his game. We will see....

We got beat by a team on a big losing streak yesterday. Wins are not guaranteed in this league.
We'll see. Obviously it's up to the Kings to start finding the path, the opponent by the numbers is beatable. There's a little more time under the Kings belt as a unit. Maybe the rotation is finding some more balance. We shall see.

Blazers have Scoot and Sharpe off the bench, but start Camara because he's a defensive weapon to surround their offensive hubs. They have all the pedigree and draft capital tied to them, but Camara gets the start because he helps them win. I'm honestly kind of furious now that we refuse to use Keon properly and are seemingly purposefully tanking this season because we don't want to hurt any feelings.

I don't want to hear a damn thing anymore about roster construction until we maximize Keon on the floor, especially in crunch time. He was incredible again tonight defensively...and he didn't play the last 9:26 of a close contest. Devin Carter had one of his better defensive games...again less than 10 minutes and only 2 minutes in the second half.

It's on Doug at this point.

Game was tense and interesting. We had so many offensive blunders. Zach needs more time to fit in, meanwhile for the big C as JV it's much easier. If JV takes 8 FGAs usually he makes 5, but come on, that was his first game.
Still, 2 Ls more in the standings - not good. Myself, I see a lot of top level NBA talent on the reshaped roster. Need just good tune-up and we can be REALLY good.

We played hard out there tonight. Monk is overly trying to get people involved. At times beautiful at times ugly. It will get better

Sabonis had one hand tied behind his back all dam game with refs

Murray started out agressive then disappeared (,again) infuriating

Debo. Always takes time to get going. Then goes cooking. Not mad at him

Lavine was pressing but showed flashes of brilliance his shots barley touch net when he's in rythem. Once he learns offense it's lights out.
Defense was fine. Except when missed assignment. Nothing time cant fix.

We would have won with a fair whistle I have no doubt. This team was hot from 3 and still barley won.

Yes Carter and Ellis need a few more min, but it's not coming. We have a wing coming in. So there will be less not more min

Agreed. Doug has made some puzzling decisions, I get there are egos involved with who starts but anyone that can see clearly knows Keon should start in place of one of the scorers, likely Lavine. And like you said, Carter had a few impressive defensive plays and doesn’t really get rewarded for it. Just so confusing.

That's exactly the player he is. Bulls where raving about his team attitude
