De'Aaron Fox Traded to Spurs for Zach Lavine, three first round picks

The LaVine deal also just lines up with what we gave DeMar in terms of a timeline. LaVine is an expiring that 26-27 season, you can buy-out DDR (or if he retires), Monk is technically an expiring, but has a PO, Domas only has 1 more year of his deal. That would be the first year of Keegan's RFA deal, 2nd year of Keon's RFA deal and Carter would be in the 3rd of his rookie scale contract. If you wanted to reset that season, you really could. And you wouldn't have to worry about being really competent again until 2031 with the pick swap.

Best 5 things about THE TRADE:

1) Fox gone (best wishes) for nice overall haul in return
2) Lavine a Sacramento King!
3) Kings acquire Charlotte #1 draft pick this year (2025), decent boat load future picks (First/Second round)
4) Huerter and that contract gone
5) Monte could have bungled but in the end made probably best deal available

Don't get to excited about item 3.

Serious question here, cause I really want to know why kings fans feel the way they do.

Why are so many fans against a complete tear down? Especially since this team has really never experienced one.
we should’ve after the Cousins trade (or, more specifically, traded him for draft capital). Instead we tried to go for mid-players hoping it was click. I think we are probably one season away from a tear down if this post-TD team doesn’t click into overdrive.

All we had to do was not blow the #10 pick that we turned into #15 and #20.

There was at least one All-NBA player to be had at 10 and at least two perennial all stars between 15 and 20.

Then maybe we are 4th or 5th in 2018 and whoever we draft isn't as painful.

What does anyone wanna bet, unlike us, what the nets want, they will probably get from the kings.
The Nets ask has been going down down down. I don't think they'll get two firsts. They don't have to take Huerter now, they can take the cap space. We can also send Lyles who is expiring and take back Cam and Sharpe. They get I dunno 35 million to play with next year? Plus the Charlotte pick.

Well, we were a 48 win team, #3 seed literally less than 2 years ago that took the defending champs to 7 games. We also had 2 of the best players in our franchise history, in their prime, at the same time with Fox and Domas.

Life comes at your fast I guess. But I like rooting for good basketball and not fully crap teams year after year. I also don't think Vivek will ever let a real 3-5 year rebuild take place under his watch.
For me, Vivek is why a complete tear down won’t happen. In my book he is one of the worst owners in sports.

If what is being reported is correct, and going on the assumption that the CHA 25 pick does not convey, we get:

FRPs:
SAS 27
MIN 31

SRPs:
CHI 25
CHA 26
CHA 27
DEN 28
SAC 28
CHA FRP is protected. Does this trade include any condition, let’s say “the FRP is protected if its high 1-5..” ? Or no matter its their call.

You take Lavine and switch him with Castle in a spurs uniform and everyone would be raving about how the Spurs can compete for a championship.

Yet somehow because we got Lavine instead of Castle we are the Mavs? Life is not fair
Yeah, I would have liked to see the spurs pay a price for the kings so called 1A player.

here’s a quote from “Pounding the Rock” Spurs blog:

I’m just over the moon that the Spurs somehow managed to acquire an All-Star caliber player without giving up anyone in their young core. Devin Vassell, Keldon Johnson, Jeremy Sochan and Stephon Castle are all still Spurs. This hardly could have gone better for them. Go Spurs Go!
