De'Aaron Fox Traded to Spurs for Zach Lavine, three first round picks

You just explained the issue
Not happy either about it, but looking at the glass half full hopefully this will help out with our 3pt shooting in a major way. Get Monk more shots, and Keon can hit a couple a game. Devin Carter will get more minutes.. I really like his game. Fox and DeRozan were kinda the same type of player and they were stepping on each other.

Hm. I'm not a believer in Zach LaVine. Never have been. And unfortunately, it's a move that doesn't allow for Keon to shift into the starting unit, either. That means a Monk-LaVine backcourt, which is going to be fun, sure, but soooooo leaky defensively. In the near-term, the Kings will just have to go all-in on offense, I guess?

The picks are nice, though I wish the CHA pick wasn't so well-protected. The 2027 first from the Spurs doesn't figure to be much more than middling. Would have liked to get one of the better-positioned firsts they're holding onto. Overall, it's a solid haul for Fox. Not the value I was hoping for, though.
LaVine does play minutes at SF. Carter and Keon now should be getting more minutes, not less. Carter as your backup PG, Keon as your backup SG. They can and should go smaller with LaVine and Deebo at F like they did in Chicago.

I’m not a fan of the return we got.

The CHA 1st is a fake 1st that the FO can use in headlines to make themselves look good but it’s just that… a fake 1st that is really 2 2nds. I really hope at the very least the 2027 SAS and 2031 MIN 1sts are unprotected.

The roster is still unbalanced at this point, and I shudder to think about how bad our defense will be when we have Monk, LaVine, DeRozan, & Sabonis in the starting lineup. Lets see if Monte has anything else cooked up to balance the roster before Thursday’s deadline.

I could not have written this any better. I wanted more for Fox, but it wasn’t the best situation.

Sure. But I'm of the opinion that Keon should be starting. He just should. His impact is enormous. And unlike Fox, LaVine ain't running point, so there's no sending Monk back to the bench. Carter's not close to ready, so Monk is now your full-time starting PG. And yeah, LaVine can flex for some minutes at the 3, but Keon's not starting with those two guys. Monk/LaVine/DeRozan is a dangerously poor defensive trio.
