I agree to a certain extent but how many games have our starters had us in a 8-15 point hole to start the game? How many games did we pish away a lead at the end with the same group? We have one good defender in our starting lineup. I know I’m preaching to the choir with you as a fan of defense. Maybe this situation allows us to better balance things.
Aiming for more of a balance between offense and defense with the starters and bench makes sense to me too but we really just need 2 more guys in the rotation who aren't giving us negative value. At that point Coach Christie can do whatever he wants with the lineups for all I care. I also don't think 8-15 points is that big of a deficit in the modern NBA. Good teams (and this includes the Kings at some times this season) can make that up pretty fast with 2 to 3 solid minutes of tough defense and 3 or 4 successful offensive possessions in a row. More than the slow starts what's frustrating to me is when the team remains 8-15 points down for the whole game without being able to sustain momentum long enough to close the gap. And I think the lack of bench production plays a big role in that.

The Spurs are apparently that guy at last call at the bar looking for anyone to go home with but then they’re turning down a model because the model wants them to pay for an uber ride home (Stephon Castle).
I’ll be honest she found her way to my house she can find her way home lol

ok don't google Brandon Ingram and agent or Brandon Ingram and Rich Paul or Brandon Ingram and Klutch and we won't tell you.
haha

Who was actually on the table? I still wouldn't trade Keegan for Lauri straight up and I am pretty sure there was supposed to be a package there. Defense is far too valuable and now that Brown is gone his shot is starting to come back and he's also starting to show more aggression.

Most of the players we are linked to are trash which is why Deebo was such an amazing signing.
I think we were also linked to OG (which would have been a rental) with Keegan being the deal breaker?

I'm also glad we didn't trade him for the reasons you mentioned btw.

It's that we had no real bigs and play almost every position 3-5 "down one size" because Mike Brown is allergic to that playstyle.

If he wouldn't take an actual PF because they are stupid and shoved Keegan into that role his offense be damned to bring another scorer in as a 3 ...

Like I said before when discussing our roster construction that knowing how much Brown had a hand in our being undersized was key and it appears that stuff coming out today is that he had all of the hands in it.

Oh yeah - OG and Siakam who made clear they had no intention of re-signing with the Kings vs. a 2nd year guy who we control into 2030. That's right.

probably the Golden State influence

Such a mess man. Fox and Klutch has had every opportunity to come out and try and save face that "they're not looking for a trade" and they're just looking to throw the Kings under the buss here at every turn. Relationship is dead, get out while you can.

And holy crap, i TRULY hate saying that. I've loved watching Fox here. He's been one of my favorite Kings ever. Hate this has basically become TMZ and now it's a bunch of "he said, team said" type nonsense
And Fox is sitting in the corner, saying, "Who, me?"

Wasn't he also (reportedly) the one who wanted to move DeMar to the bench? What would be the purpose of that if not to move Keegan back to SF? I really have no reason to believe Mike Brown was vetoing roster decisions. It's pretty rare for a coach to have that power (unless they're also the GM) so to me that just reads as "throw this guy under the bus cause he's not here anymore".

I assume all these leaks are coming out of the player camp though? I don't think Monte or Wes are leaking.

Expanding on my earlier post about what we "aren't willing to do" we traded one of the most beloved players in Sac history for a guy that didn't want to be here and we trade Hali for Domas (getting rid of the cancer that is Buddy Hield in the process as a bonus).

Those are the only times in history a player of Fox's caliber was obtainable to us.

Most of us were ok with Hedo for Miller too.

I wouldn't trade any of those guys for Castle without serious additional compensation.
The overvaluation of Castle by basically everybody who desperately wants Fox in San Antonio is hilarious. Now, I'm not saying Castle is going to be trash - if we believed he was hopeless we wouldn't insist on getting him - but the idea that after a half a season of "dude can't shoot" he's an untouchable piece when his team is in pursuit of a star in his prime who will be there long term is silly.

As an example, do we think Devin Carter has the potential to be a very interesting player? Yes. Are most Kings fans loath to include Carter in an arbitrary deal? Yes! If Carter were the sticking point for, say, a Markkanen deal, is he on the Jazz? YES!

Castle is a young player who remains a lottery ticket, and I'm sorry Spurs fans, but he's a part of the price of business. You're not trading for Kevin Huerter here. If you were, I'd get it. But you're hypothetically trading for De'Aaron Fox. You're already winning the trade. You're going to have to give up some value. Sorry.

I wanted to move DeRozan to the bench - but only on the condition that we acquired a good defensive power forward. It’s hard to move a guy to the bench when he is clearly a better player than the alternatives.

DeRozan would be an awesome 6th man on a great team.

I trust less than 5% of what gets posted as news these days. Nobody is doing any fact checking, that takes time and effort by which point someone less scrupulous has already posted it and claimed all the clicks. This is all just PR spin in one way or another and the culture moves (and then moves on) so fast that we may not ever know what's actually going on. It won't be a story (for the vast majority of the populace) 3 weeks from now so it won't be reported on.

Right. My refusal to trade Devin for Cam Johnson doesn’t extend to a refusal to trade Devin for SGA lol

the problem is 4 of our 5 big minute players are considered poor defenders or at least inconsistent. Starting or not, that’s a problem. Keon is still playing under 20 most nights. Carter gets no burn. We have to open up more minutes for defenders and those minutes either need to come from replacing a starter or two or reducing their minutes.

If he won't sign an extension what else are we supposed to do. Stupid spin machine.
Right on. If you keep asking the girl to marry you and you’re giving her the biggest rock possible and she keeps saying no, you’ve got to get the hint and move on. That’s what Klutch was doing.

Basically painting the Kings into the corner of potentially losing Fox for nothing next summer, if they didn’t trade him now.

Which I'm also fine with. Our starters don't need to be playing the second most minutes in the league behind Team Thibs anyway.
