Amick: De’Aaron Fox requests trade

My thing about people saying we had 2 years to get help. It’s not easy with salary cap and you got 7 players taking up all the money. We got lucky with Keon and huerter has fell off as has Trey. We are over the cap and 2 of the top 7 money makers are huerter and Lyle’s the rest are filled with minimum guys. How can we get you they help deArron? Maybe if guys like him didn’t demand max and super max salaries they could field a nice 9-10 deep team. But no all these players want to provide for 5 generations down the line. But expect the other players to take less to make the team better? Fox makes nearly 100k a day. You know how happy I would be for 5 days of that? Guess what if we give you super max that will further handicap any chance of “help”

Such a mess man. Fox and Klutch has had every opportunity to come out and try and save face that "they're not looking for a trade" and they're just looking to throw the Kings under the buss here at every turn. Relationship is dead, get out while you can.

And holy crap, i TRULY hate saying that. I've loved watching Fox here. He's been one of my favorite Kings ever. Hate this has basically become TMZ and now it's a bunch of "he said, team said" type nonsense
not stopping the Kings-Anon faction of Twitter from buying it hook-line-sinker

If he won't sign an extension what else are we supposed to do. Stupid spin machine.
Fox wanted to move on but waited around just in case he got All NBA. His representation told him it wasn’t happening due to his injury so Klutch got word to sac that they should consider trading him and get best value. He won’t request a trade but he won’t sign here either. This is clear as day.

I don’t think it’s delusional fox that fox will resign wherever we trade him. He isn’t leaving money on the table and spurs won’t wait for a part time all star they’ll grab someone by the time Fox allegedly hits FA.
And then after wemby get his next huge contract they will both be crying about help yet all the money will be gone to them and only able to get spares and minimums for and they will begin to cry again. Can’t get 40% of the cap and expect great players around you. You can get lucky with rookie contract guys but that’s all you can hope for.

Fox, monk, demar, murray, sabonis is a damn talented starting 5. Got lucky with Keon and unlucky with huerter. But as far as talent I’d put our starting 5 up against anybody. The problem is backup for 3/4 or 4/5. Those bench times for sabonis are killing us. Hard to get a good player or two with only hierter and Lyle’s as the bait. I mean we know they are garbage so do other teams. It would still be thin at the sf depth spot but I think John Collins addition could save this team. Murray can get some 3 min and let Collins and Keon damn near get 30-35 min a night as the 2 super subs with some splashes of Carter. Basically like what we had with Bobby Jackson and Hedo with a splash of pollard

Spurs fans gotta be the most spoiled in the NBA. The team sucks for a few years then they luck into another generational talent.

It'll probably happen again in 5 years or so when Wemby breaks down and Fox is their tank commander.
If the roles were reversed I suspect this board would be saying Ellis and Carter are off limits….its what fans do with the young prospects their team drafted. It takes a couple years before the fans turn on players and are ready to ship them out of town

I would trade Ellis and Carter (but not Keegan) + 3 FRPs for Franz or JJJ. I'd trade them and maybe 2 for the last bits of KD or Giannis's prime (if Fox was re-signed and not acting like a petulant child, of course).

This has been my point all year. The starting lineups have been fine but we're getting zero production out of our bench and a lot of our losses have been close enough where that's the difference. Obviously nobody is taking Huerter and Lyles in return unless they're escaping a bad contact or tanking but that doesn't mean the only alternative is to do nothing. Just cut them already and run an open tryout or something for the last 3 roster spots. Keon Ellis and Isaac Jones were undrafted free agents and they're giving us better production. There are former NBA wings and bigs currently looking for NBA contracts who might out produce our current bench if given the chance.

I swear people are idiots over on other outlets "So they were trying to trade for Collins and move Fox?" "Brown didn't want (therefore wouldn't play) guys that they could get? But then they fire him?!?" There's no smoking gun here and if you still can't understand the Brown situation even though you probably demanded his raise and extension then I can't help you.

Like can't anyone put a timeline of likely events together? Monte has been conservative with our own picks because he knew this impasse was coming sooner or later. And the fact we only owe one still to ATL is about the only saving grace in anything right now.

I agree to a certain extent but how many games have our starters had us in a 8-15 point hole to start the game? How many games did we pish away a lead at the end with the same group? We have one good defender in our starting lineup. I know I’m preaching to the choir with you as a fan of defense. Maybe this situation allows us to better balance things.

Expanding on my earlier post about what we "aren't willing to do" we traded one of the most beloved players in Sac history for a guy that didn't want to be here and we trade Hali for Domas (getting rid of the cancer that is Buddy Hield in the process as a bonus).

Those are the only times in history a player of Fox's caliber was obtainable to us.

Most of us were ok with Hedo for Miller too.

I wouldn't trade any of those guys for Castle without serious additional compensation.

Honestly if we ship Deebo and Fox out we will gain so much on defense and with Monk starting and Keon willing and able to shoot 3s I'm not even sure we lose all that much IF IF IF we get a backup 4 and a backup 5.

I mean, we basically did that with Keegan after his rookie year, so I'm not arguing that point.

I just think Spurs fans getting gifted generational bigs each time they are briefly a lotto team makes them spoiled. Texans don't deserve good things.

But now I'm getting wildly off topic :p

Who was actually on the table? I still wouldn't trade Keegan for Lauri straight up and I am pretty sure there was supposed to be a package there. Defense is far too valuable and now that Brown is gone his shot is starting to come back and he's also starting to show more aggression.

Most of the players we are linked to are trash which is why Deebo was such an amazing signing.
