Fox hired Rich Paul in 2022. Trying to remember right now, but I don't think he's ever tried to force out before. I think his hesitancy to sign a long-term extension has always been him wanting to play up to All-NBA standards to get more money, but that hasn't happened the last 2 years. That's probably played a part in him wanting to leave, especially if he's not going to reap the extra cash benefits
The original plan would have been to stay long enough to get the super max contract. Build his brand. He refused extension offers hoping to be eligible. Then it became clear this year with the finger injury and the fact that his big games weren't moving the needle towards an All Star selection that maybe it was time to bail. Queue up a public feud with the coach that may not have existed, a nasty losing streak, and everything is set for him to ask out because LOLKANGZ failed him.

Somehow against all odds the rest of the team rallied once Brown was gone.

I know that's all a bit conspiratorial, but that's what an agent like Klutch can do. He got AD to the Lakers and has also done LeBron's bidding all over the NBA so you know he can.

Yeah Castle and the Hawks picks gotta be in this deal to get it done. Wild that Dejounte got the Spurs all these picks from ATL but we as Kings fans are supposed to think De’Aaron freaking Fox isn’t going to net us anything on the market.
Murray didn’t have an upcoming free agency and demand one team as of now

We don't actually know that other teams aren't on the table and who cares. My favorite Kings player in Sacramento, Chris Webber, said he'd never play for us. He'd never re-sign with us. We don't have to bend over for him. All we have to even do is get one or two other teams to make an offer.

that quartet ain’t gonna be playing together buddy.
Yeah, however long the period is between now and when Fox is traded, it's going to be unbearable. Talking heads and fans around the league are going to treat themselves to the fantasy that the Kangz will take anybody's trash and deliver a star PG unto a new fanbase while giving up none of their own. All I can say is, Monte, Vivek, and co. better not f*** this up.

So the report is there was a trade offer for Fox yesterday. Why would the Kings take that to Klutch? Because it was likely contingent on Fox resigning with the team. The only way I can think the Kings present that to Klutch is because they would actually have taken the trade if Klutch agreed. Now I’m super curious as to what team that was….clearly not SA, probably not Miami or Houston? BUT it must have been a pretty damn good deal — unless Monte/Wes are really that dumb to take a so so offer they wouldn’t have accepted to Klutch which then led to all this mess.

Some of these proposals make you wonder if people even understand the basic principals of a trade. Kings trading a star player and that somehow resulting in "here is our trash in return, thanks" is just bonkers thinking.
If these reports are true, Fox has picked his spot. A spot that can take him in for NOTHING. Sorry, but this is likely in the hands of Fox's folks now.

Again, IF it came to that. You forget that Fox has leverage here. If they can get a superstar package for Fox, great, but be realistic. It's likely over, this is a thing now.
Fox has leverage but his kids aren't making the decision, Fox and maybe Recee are. Orlando really hasn't come up as a likely spot because they don't have anything near as attractive to offer picks or player wise and now they're going to exclude guys?

Look, you give up Franz if you want Fox.

I seriously wouldn't expect that. The realistic thing is picks to package later on. That's what the NBA has been about lately and when players are in the contract status Fox is, so it's likely to stay that way. Obviously you shoot for the moon if you're Monte but Fox is 90% the way to where Siakam was. Get value and move on.

My first preference would be for us to get one big time young talent regardless of position and 3 picks and that swap back. Cultivate that player for the year and then see what you have. Young player A plus 4 first rounders and a reasonable Deebo contract would be a nice package to go get what we need next year. Or just keep building and let guys like Carter and Keegan develop and try your luck in the draft

If the Spurs want him for NOTHING, then the Spurs can wait two years while he plays out his contract, waste those years of Fox and Wemby developing chemistry, make sure they clear enough salary space to sign him outright, and hope that in the meantime Fox doesn't change his mind or get badly injured.

Or, they can make us an offer that at the very least matches the market offer from any team not called The Spurs who wants to take a Webber-style risk on convincing Fox to stay. That way, they get Fox for certain, and they get to have him and Wemby develop chemistry before Fox's window closes. Their call.

We don't have to take an insulting offer because Fox only wants to go to one team.

James Ham and Sean Cunningham on the Kings beat, think there’s still a chance Fox will stay and can be happy here. For anyone wanting a brighter view of things:
