If it's a San Antonio trade, then the return will have to be pick-heavy. Their assets outside of Wemby are not all that great. Can hope for Castle to pan out but his shooting is dreadful, Sochan is a role playing defender (which is OK, I guess), not a whole lot else there, and they've got a ton, ton, ton of picks in the stable.

Look, that's no reason for the media to pause for a moment of self-reflection when they can just continue pouring the gasoline all over themselves and light it RIGHT NOW.
De'Aaron doesn't want to be the villain in all of this. I think he truly loves sac, but Klutch has blown this up. This doesn't seem like some random rumor that the media has latched onto. Unless he has reason to believe that the KINGS are the ones that have proactively initiated trade discussions, I really don't understand the hey I'll sign in sac but if not trade me to the spurs vibes.

Easy. You then flip the picks for assets?
Those picks are going to be far more valuable if we move today or in the next year than they will if we wait for them to convey. Best part is it will clear us of Stepien requirements.

Plus I think you roll the dice on whatever young guys you get back. Losing Fox will hurt but DDR will still be a clutch time option, Domas is still going to be Domas, Monk will play off him. More time for Keon and Devin.

Maybe some of the crap play throughout the season is due to the fact what some players thought they were being moved, only to be told “lolz just kidding it fell through again”. Who knows but the timing of all this is just annoying

Keegan also gets a few more touches to continue his development.

They seem to have learned a lot from it because Fox has much cleaner hands right now. But writing was on the wall its why I was getting antsy.
I'm sorry... I just don't buy that Fox has clean hands in this. He runs the show. Either he's all in on these tactics, or he is an idiot when he agreed to sign with Klutch. He's now in a circular reference error that happens where the superstar creates havoc, team play is distracted on the court, management makes stupid decision, player leaves because winning wasn't achieved. De'Aaron is a very smart guy. He knows what's happening here. Unless he thinks management is going to pull a rabbit out of their hat and trade for a franchise altering superstar at the deadline, this is step one to leaving sac.

You're not getting the top of the line talent ideally in a deal like this, but a SAS deal is essentially a way to rebuild on the fly. That gives you Keegan/Carter/Keon/Castle/Sochan+ whatever the FRP warchest ends up being. And I think you luckily have a little sample of what Monk-Keon back-court looks like and it seems like you can stay competitive, even if the team ceiling is significantly lower.

To me, I think this just all the way done. There's no rehabbing the relationship. I don't want this hanging over the team for the next 7 months. Give yourself a direction now and you can build forward. I haven't done a ton of work on Castle or really watched him this season, but I do remember a lot of people liked him pre-draft.

Idk.

Ok so De'Aaron is signed through next year right?

I mean you don't have to trade him.

But man if the right deal comes along you might have to do it
No “I had a better deal two nights ago” being scared of it. If someone makes THE offer, you jump on it.

This has been going on for months now and very few people have believe Fox was demanding out. That is all I meant here, just like the dinner with Coach Brown photo op. They have been sewing the seeds of discontent while also doing PR stuff to make him look good.

I felt like AD we all knew earlier. But maybe it's just because the Pelicans put their feet down until they were left with no choice.

AD was wearing passive aggressive T-shirts on the sideline and not even trying to play

Yes, if he really likes Luke Louks more than Rich Paul, he’s free to make the call now and clear things up

Sorry... I wasn't trying to go after you... my post was more of a general commentary on the situation :)
