If McNair can't reach an agreement with the Hawks to reduce the protection of the '25 pick and we only can offer to the Jazz a future 1st pick we should give Utah the pick we may have to swap with the Spurs in 2031. With Wemby in his prime the Spurs might be a contender by then. And if the Hawks pick convey this year we still can trade '27 and '29 picks for another improvement move if the '31 is traded now.
good idea, if they agree to that sign me up.

Malik said in his post game press conference that he's always going to have fun playing ball. So he will be fine. It's nice they're friends but I can't imagine they're going to experience some kind of disabling separation anxiety.

Yes, sometime the business of basketball can be cruel to players cohesiveness , but I’m pretty sure Malik wouldn’t have a problem with an increased roll and the dollars in the bank each game. Let alone that it’s fun for him. That being said I would only trade Fox for another star.

I would trade Fox for Jabari Smith, Reed Sheppard and Cam Whitmore. I think the sum of the parts in this case will be greater than the whole.

- Monk/Reed, Ellis/Cam, Murray/DDR, Jabari/Lyles, Sabonis/Len.

Swap out Huerter for Isaiah Sewart, then look for a 7'0"-7'4" backup Center in next year's draft to sic on Wemby for small spells during games... and it seems like this will be the most complete Kings squad in a long time.

ATL GETS: Protections on 2026 SAC 1st changed from top 10 protected to top 4 protected
ATL GIVES: Agrees that SAC no longer owes ATL their 2026 & 2027 2nds if their 2026 SAC 1st doesn’t convey to ATL
WHY FOR ATL? When the Kings traded for Huerter, they gave ATL a protected 1st round pick. It has not conveyed yet and is top 12 protected in 2025 and top 10 protected in 2026. If the pick doesn’t convey in 2026, ATL gets SAC’s 2026 and 2027 2nd round picks as a consolation prize. With the Kings flirting with kissing the play-in/playoffs, it’s possible that ATL could not end up with one of SAC’s 1sts (2025 or 2026). By changing the protection on the 2026 1st from top 10 protected to top 4 protected, it makes it a very high likelihood that ATL will receive a 1st from SAC. In order to improve their odds of having that 1st convey, ATL agrees to forgo their consolation prize of the 2026 & 2027 SAC 2nds.

UTA GETS: Kevin Huerter, Colby Jones, Jordan McLaughlin, Doug McDermott, 2026 SAC 2nd, 2027 SAC 2nd, & 2029 SAC 2nd
UTA GIVES: John Collins & Patty Mills
WHY FOR UTA? The Jazz cash in on Collins for 3 2nd round picks, Colby Jones, and a potential reclamation project in Huerter. This also opens up plenty of minutes for their young bigs (Hendricks, Filipowski, & Kessler) to continue to to develop. This trade forces UTA to cut 2 players from their roster but Eubanks and Mykahiliuk seem like great candidates considering they are both 27 (not really part of the rebuild), aren’t key contributors in the rotation today, and have unguaranteed contracts next year (meaning if they are cut, they won’t owe them any money next year).

PG - Sexton / Collier / McLaughlin
SG - George / Clarkson / Juzang / Jones
SF - Williams / Huerter / Sensabaugh
PF - Markkanen / Hendricks / McDermott
C - Kessler / Filipowski

SAC Gets: John Collins, Patty Mills, & the removal of the stipulation that SAC owes ATL their 2026 & 2027 2nds if their 2026 1st doesn’t convey to ATL
SAC Gives: Kevin Huerter, Colby Jones, Jordan McLaughlin, Doug McDermott, Protections on 2026 SAC 1st changed from top 10 protected to top 4 protected, 2026 SAC 2nd, 2027 SAC 2nd, & 2029 SAC 2nd
Why for SAC? With Devin Carter back healthy, the Kings clear out their guard log jam by moving Huerter for some frontcourt. Collins gives the Kings some much needed size who can give them a bit of everything (scoring, shooting, rebounding, shot blocking, lob threat). This gives the Kings a very solid & balanced 9 man rotation of Fox, Monk, Ellis, Carter, DeRozan, Murray, Lyles, Collins, & Sabonis.

PG - Fox / Monk / Mills
SG - Ellis / Carter
SF - DeRozan / Crowder
PF - Murray / Lyles
C - Sabonis / Collins / Len

Taking it a step further, I’d probably distribute the minutes to be something like…

PG - Fox (34) / Monk (14)
SG - Ellis (26) / Monk (14) / Carter (8)
SF - DeRozan (30) / Murray (10) / Carter (8)
PF - Murray (20) / Lyles (16) / Collins (12)
C - Sabonis (34) / Collins (14)

Fox = 34 min
Sabonis = 34 min
DeRozan = 30 min
Murray = 30 min
Monk = 28 min
Ellis = 26 min
Collins = 26 min
Carter = 16 min
Lyles = 16 min
I think this puts us in the luxury tax so the question will be would Veviik be ok with that because Lyle’s and Collins together is a lot better than just Collins.
