yeh I think it was 20 percent punishment and 80 percent circumstance. Huerter had it going and Keegan was playing well so the minutes dried up tonight.
He's been yanked around in the early part of this season. Went from starter going into game 1, to pulled a day before,....then played well enough to get the starting position back, then pulled again from the starting lineup two games later,.... to now no play at all.

Don't really like how they've handled him after a really strong close to last season and a good summer, where had a lot of momentum going into this season. Hope it doesn't derail his rhythm and confidence

Incredible win. THIS is what this squad is supposed to look like.

-I think Isaac Jones might have a real elite talent around the rim. He's a devastating rim runner and he's shown the ability to finish over just about anybody. Had one vs Wemby vs SAS, had a real nice finish over Adams. These are not easy dudes to post against and he's making it look easy. He's also making it a habit to have at least one transition play a game where he just out runs everyone else on the floor and gets a dunk. Plays like those are always so impactful and swing momentum.

-Malik with the starters just puts so much pressure on opposing defenses. He'll never be Keon on defense, but Keon will also never be Monk on offense. His chemistry getting the bigs involved in the PnR is just so good and gives us another set to turn that remains incredibly effective. His shooting has been so damn good too since returning from injury; I'm telling yall, sneaky offensive star isn't so sneaky anymore.

-Great to see Huerter just have a strong overall game and be very impactful. He looked loose, looked ready to fire and 42% from 3 is exactly what we expect from him on a game by game basis.

Kingster

Hall of Famer
I was really surprised that the referees called all those offensive fouls. Mike Brown, in his pregame comments, talked about how teams like the Knicks establish a physical "style" of play early in the season; the referees then just put the physical play down to the way that team operates and they get away with a lot of slapping, pushing, and illegal screens.
Yeah, I guess we can't be complaining on the refs this game, can we? :D The Kings deserved to get the calls and they were rewarded for their toughness in getting around those screens. Justice is done!

Thing is, when a team is scuffling, all bets are off. And when you're one of the ancillary guys (meaning not Domas/Fox/DDR/Keegan), you have to consistently keep performing at a high level or there's going to be rotation changes. There just has to be; the team has been in a tail-spin for 2+ weeks.

And it worked. For tonight anyway, against a very tough opponent. Brown hit all the right levers tonight and led to our best win of the season. There's obviously room for Keon in this rotation (and there very much should be, over Crowder), but I think it's clear he hasn't fully worked his way into Brown's trust yet. And him struggling these past few games certainly hasn't helped. Right or wrong, that's something he's going to have to overcome to stay as that 20 MPG rotation piece.

we might need him to repeat last years performance on Bane so let’s hope he is locked in if his number is called

He had one bad game. All players and "ancillary guys" will make mistakes and have a bad game here and there.

I don't agree with pulling him from the rotation at this point, regardless of whether this game was a win or not. He wasn't to blame for the string of losses and played better overall than Huerter and was the most consistent 3 pt shooter on the team, which is why he was put back into the starting lineup.

I was not at all a fan of starting Monk but I am coming around. He simply does a better job getting everyone involved as the lead guard. We had more assists and better ball movement tonight.

Nobody said he was responsible for the string of losses. Where are you getting that from what I just said?

Kings just gotta find a way to win games. I don't care how that happens or getting upset about minutes at this point. Win the damn game. Kings have to turn it on now, or they're going to be too far out of the playoff hunt to make noise the last few months of the season. West is too good.

Keon has earned the right to play, but he's also the 7th(?) man on a team that has dropped 6 of 7 games. And a guy that really hasn't worked his way into Brown's trust. Fans love Keon, but he hasn't quite cracked into Brown's "untouchable" list yet. Right or wrong, is what it is.

Brown also just made a seismic commitment to Monk at the 2. Who's been frankly, awesome and a significant upgrade since coming back from injury.

Yeah, it's getting another offensive hub on the floor, that's 1. unselfish and willing to create for his teammates and 2. Is a floor spacer. 3. Can create off his own bounce and put pressure on the rim.

The ball was flying around the court tonight. Didn't matter that we had a bunch of "big USG" guys all playing together, because they WERE playing together as a team. If they stay egoless, they're going to be incredibly difficult to slow down because there's pretty much always going to be a good opportunity available.

When I make a general comment during a response, it doesn't necessarily mean I think you said or believe it. It's just talk about the situation.

I don't agree with everything Brown does with this team. I would you assume it you don't either...and it naturally becomes part of the discussion.

With Monk in the starting lineup, who do you now consider the 6th man?

It's Huerter. I know fans aren't going to want to hear that, but Brown trusts him and... he's a good player! Saw that tonight when he's right, he's an impactful guy out there. He's got to find consistency to play like this every night, but he's certainly capable and historically shown he can play like this game in and game out.

When Lyles gets back, I think Crowder probably takes more of a back-seat and we see Keon/Huerter/Lyles/Jones as the primary bench. Which is a pretty nice balance of offense and defense.
