Clutch Kings

6-4 through 10 games. And I don't think we've particularly played all that well. Or at least what I think we're capable of playing to, especially on the offensive end.

Keep on keeping pace with the West and figure out what the hell is wrong with the shooting. The fact we have 6 wins with a team-wide drought on 3's is pretty incredible. Shows how big DDR has been I think.

Putting Deebo and De’Aaron on the same side of the court is diabolical. Neither guy’s defender is going to be able to help the other because the second they shade too far over, Deebo to Fox is passing it off to the other guy and getting him downhill into the paint for a middy.
And this is all about situation. Shooting that same shot down 7 isn't the same as being up 7. That was when you look for the dagger. The Kings need to give themselves a little more credit now that Keegan is going full Shawn Marion on the boards and with them having two go to options late. Take the game to the edge if you have to and then bury the other team with the two best clutch guys in the league when the game matters most.

Just finished the game. Regardless of result, this team is different. They scrap, they play hard, the Derozen impact is so evident. This team will not shoot this bad the entire year.
If Fox starts looking to attack more, even his threes will come. We already know that's how it works for him. The Kings are mentally checked on 3's because this is year two of teams having already figured out the DHO. Once the Kings start rolling inside or in the mid range, dare those teams to come out on those DHO's like this.

If we didn’t have Deebo and were shooting the same we would be like 3-7 or 4-6 at best

This really shows why Keon should probably be the closing "5th" guy out there over Huerter and Monk. All the shots are going to 2 guys so just get your best defensive player on the floor to go win the other end.
Gotta give credit to Huerter tonight, though. As he played well on both ends, I thought.

But to your point, yes, it makes sense to me to have Keon, Keegster and whatever other defensive-minded or capable player out there with Deebo and Swipa each taking turns with the crunch time offense.

Especially so when those guys can also hit the open three if/when it’s passed to them out of the double-team.

that is some insane efficiency in the 4th and OT from DeMar....his movement is so fluid and precise that he doesn't exert a lot of energy doing it and continues to get to his spot, even when the defense knows where he's going
Deebo makes it look easy during crunch time, doesn't he.? no sweat. His turnaround midrange jumper is so automatic, impossible to react on time. It's like what Bruce Lee said: “I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times”.

DDR dominated the first half of OT. Fox dominated the second. Only one missed FG. Refs gifted the Suns 4 points and the Kings still beat them by 9. Pure domination.

Only one 3 taken in OT and it happened to be the only missed shot. I'd like to see the Kings take less of them if they are going to continue to stay ice cold. Shooting through the slump doesn't seem to be working but the 2pt game has been dominant. Go with what works and then adjust when teams adjust.

How did they "gift" them 4 points?

I watched DDR in fits and starts before but now with him on the Kings i get the regular doses of his game. I knew he was good before but this dude is straight disgusting. He is neigh unguardable. He being a willing passer makes him even more deadly. He had a great look from corner 3 land and fake well enough to get his defender to bite and get Huerters guy to lay back, made the quick pass over to KVon who drilled a 3. I dont expect the shooting slump will continue in perpetuity and when they start falling, look out.

My worry has been lyles. I know he is coming back from injury but he seems extra slow and has no lift on the shot.

I think if the Kings stop taking 3s, there will be zero room for FOX and DDR to operate. It’s busy in the paint already yet they are still getting theirs
A lot of shots came up short against the Suns. Usually, that is a sign of tired legs. Somehow, De'Aaron and DeMar got cooking in the fourth quarter and overtime. They will be even more tired tonight, with overtime followed by travel. Only four of the first eleven games were at home, and three games will have been on the second night of a back-to-back.

Fortunately, after tonight, they have four straight games back in Sacramento.
