[Game] Kings @ Los Angeles Clippers, 2/25/2024, 6:30p PT/9:30p ET (ESPN)

I caught the second half of this game and was shocked (shocked!) to find the Kings starters all playing terrific team defense for most of the third quarter! I also caught those "Light the Beam" chants in Crypto.com at the end. Way to represent So Cal Kings fans!

Also important; we kept open a tie breaker possibility with the Clippers. Still 4 games back, so not super likely, but I think having as many west tiebreaker options open matters a lot. It's very very easy for a team to have a bad 2 weeks and fall quickly in the standings

You can literally hear Bob Meyers say he looked over at Ty Lue to see if he was going to call a timeout when Huerter put the Kings up 15 at 66-51 lmao couldn't be more obvious who he was rooting for tonight. YUCK!

Bob Myers spending five straight minutes predicting the Kings offense collapsing without Fox on the floor only to have the Monk-Sabonis pick and roll destroy the Clippers on four straight possessions is perfect.

It’s actually crazy how a GM who constructed a team that won four titles knows so little about a team who was a division rival and who he faced in the Playoffs a season ago!!

I don't think he was worn down, I think he's been dealing with a shoulder injury, which many of us predicted he was going through some sort of injury that was hampering his game.

I still don't understand what this means. It's his job to carry this team. You want to be called a franchise player, an All-NBA talent, a top 10 player? You better damn well carry the team night in and night out. Steph/Jokic/Shai/Luka/Giannis/LeBron/Embiid don't get the luxury of having bad months.

The good news is he's done that for a good chunk of the season. But what has to go away are those just utterly trash games where it'd almost be better if he were off the floor. He can't disappear in games; ever, if you want to be included in the elite of the elite in the NBA.

That's where I think Domas has surpassed him this season. His consistency is just utterly remarkable and the fact that even if the team is going through a down-turn or not giving energy, he's out there grinding and continuing to put up huge numbers. I want Fox to develop that mindset as well; you don't get games off.

I think the difference between the guys you listed and Fox is none of those guys play defense except Giannis and Embiid….with the difference between these 2 and Fox being he’s chasing all over the place. Fox elite 2 way guy. How long can he keep this level of effort up?

Also - since when can you not challenge a call just because the ref quickly gave the ball back to the opposing team?? Feels like they make up new rules as they go, when it comes to the Kings lol what in the world is the point of a challenge if you can’t reverse a decision? Come on.

Anybody else notice the change in demeanor with Fox in this game? He was talking, smiling, even laughing. There was none of the sour-face shoulder slumping. He appears to be over whatever, and maybe the shoulder injury, that was bothering him. His performance also showed the results of a refreshed Fox. We will see in this next game if it is sustainable.

BTW: Kayte needs to lay off the caffeine before games. Extended talking over live play about random topics is not appreciated. And I am generally a Kayte fan.

would you look at that, Kings can play defense collectively at times, they were all moving together on a string switching quickly and hard, moving their feet well, helping on the boards when necessary. Kings have been fortunate not having to face some of these teams with key players missing such as Murray vs Denver, Pandemic P and Jimmy tonight. But you take them how they come. Fox with zero three pointers made and still gets his 30+, keep those 3 pointers to under 5 or so and continue to excel where he's good at will only help the Kings and push more pressure on defenses. First time I've seen Sabonis so aggressive defensively, getting himself a few steals or deflections

Keegan Murray deserves love for the hustle plays and timely plays he made on both ends, when momentum was clearly shifting over to LA. That kid is so much more fearless and competitive than people think.

It doesn't show up in thr stat sheet but you are absolutely correct.

For whatever reason, just the type of players we have or an internal thing, Kings are really mum about disclosing injuries.

I'm actually totally cool with that a) because I think it gives some competitive advantage even if something like what Fox was going through clearly wasn't passing an eye test and b) I'm sick of leagues being beholden to the sportsbooks and the fantasy-gambling industries, and so watching people scream about the Kings being tight lipped while not wanting to admit it's all about them is kind of fun (also as a fan of a least-watched team you should be able to use that as insider edge when betting on Kings guys on prop bets or the Draft Kings style fantasy games).

I don't actually think Meyers necessarily had it out for us in the telecast, I just think he was particularly bad an unprepared. As others have pointed out, it truly is head scratching that the ex-GM of the Warriors knew so little about the Kings and some of the nuances of the season. There were significant portions of the game that had the two announcers just droning on about something as if they were on a podcast, then it was like oh something happened in the game we should talk about. I complain about Kayte doing that also, but they took it to an extreme.
