Denver is beatable, but lately it really depends on which version of Fox shows up to any given game.

Hopefully we get motivated Fox tonight. We're getting crushed if it's sadboi Fox.
Does anyone have any idea what has been going on with Fox? Why he seems somewhat down emotionally, or less interested?

There's no way for anyone to know. If it's related to mental health, that's not something people hold press conferences about. Especially not someone as private as Fox

Whatever it is, if it doesn't change going forward, it's going to be a lot more of an uphill battle than it already is

Drapes mentioned on the afternoon show that his right shoulder has been a constant issue for a while but he has been playing though it.
Which makes no sense. If it is constant, then why the variability in performance? Does the shoulder hurt more against lesser teams?

Eh. It could make sense. Pain/discomfort can wax and wane when dealing with a chronic but minor injury, particularly as you play through it, and depending upon what the pain management looks like.

That said, I sense there's more going on than just a shoulder injury. Fox has proven himself to be a top-10 kinda guy when he's locked in. But the focus required to stay locked in does seem to elude him. I don't know what might be occurring in his personal life that's bleeding over into his professional performance, but there have been a few too many games this season where he's a listless non-factor. If Fox is going to be the "head of the snake," as Domas likes to call him, he can't just let the game come to him; the Kings need him to assert his will as often as possible.

Now, if it's just the shoulder, then he needs to get right so that he's not a drag on the team like he was against Detroit. If it's more than just the shoulder, then the Kings really need to push someone else to be the "co-head of the snake" so that there's not a massive void in the offense when Fox just doesn't have it. They need Barnes to be the Black Falcon or they need Keegan to grow ahead of schedule as an assertive scorer or they need Domas to have his Jokic moment where he realizes that it's okay to be the guy to get buckets if that's what your team needs you to be.

I have a lot of belief in De'Aaron Fox. I think he can be the All-NBA first teamer he looked like in the early months of the season. But his apparent moodiness is a problem given the current construction of the roster. There's just not a lot of recourse for this team when Fox is not being Fox.

We have no idea what is going on, but there is something. It might be a minor something, it could be major. We dont know, we may never know. The very simple observation of him not having any sort of free throw routine is mind boggling. If he can't be consistent in that, it's not surprising his play is also inconsistent.

Denver played last night, beating the Lakers 114-106. They may run out of steam if the game is close at the end. Their three main players--Jokic, Murray, Porter Jr.--each played 36-38 minutes.

I agree on 99% of your post. The uppermost bolded part seems to be a stretch though; it's far too coincidental that his shoulder pain would be lessened immediately after an All Star snub and then all of sudden becomes unbearable against Detroit, especially given his history of playing poorly against lesser competition over the years. IMO, the more likely explanation seems to me that he was highly motivated post All Star snub and willing to play through any discomfort he might had from the bumps and bruises of the season.

I'm actually more focused on the defensive end. When Brown took the job he rightfully pointed out that Fox could be an All NBA defender. That was his assessment of Fox's ceiling. And after the All Star snub we saw Fox putting out the effort and showing the results of an All NBA defender. Then bam, Detroit comes along and if you didn't know it you would think it was a guy they just brought in from the G League. If it was just a one-off, then it's a meaningless data point, but we've seen this variability in effort for years now. It's very odd and it's tough on any team when their most talented player is "moody," variable, inconsistent, whatever one wants to call it.

I honestly don’t know what we’re going to see tonight but I hope a ton better than Wednesday. I’m really on the wagon that it’s his shoulder. Whether we win (Go Kings) if we can just please play good defense, offense and come on let’s make our free throws (that’s been one of my biggest bummers) and stop with the turn overs (I mean at least like keep it under….8? For the entirety of game) I’m just going to buckle up buttercups

ESPN is now saying that Murray, Porter Jr., and Caldwell-Pope are all game-time decisions, along with DeAndre Jordan. Psychological warfare or rest? All but Caldwell-Pope played last night.

More Kessler and Keegs playing together pls. Those two playing the wing provide some much needed length, rebounding, and athleticism.

Stop playing McG(ump)ee! Hopefully the showcasing is over so he and Davion can sit and Len and Ellis can play.

Run the offense. Make the opposing team actually work/scramble on D.

Stop settling for threes especially early in the shot clock. Work for each other.

Potential to be the best wing defensive combo in the league.
