Kings trade rumor SZN 2023-2024 edition!

What are the thoughts on throwing the hat into the Dejonte Murray ring? Atlanta may take Kevin and fillers to get out from that contract.
Dejounte Murray is still worth much more than Huerter and filler. He's actually having a good year, it just doesn't seem like it because the Hawks aren't good, but that's because they have the worst franchise player possible in Trae Young. It's also not even like his contract is bad. At his contracts peak in 2027 it pays him $29.5M. There are 46 guys that make more than that this year alone. You could even make the argument that he's a steal at that price. So to answer your question, yes, definitely I'd do Huerter and filler. I'd drive Huerter to the airport at that point.

Thank you. The most overrated star in the league in my opinion. If he was reffed like Fox he would be average.

Every time I’ve seen him play I see him using that off arm to separate from defenders and initiate the contact but he never gets called for it and he still goes to the line 3rd most in the league. The league was supposed to crack down on flopping but rewards him for it every game.

Just like against the Kings, once we picked up a bunch of quick fouls we stopped being able to play defense on him so he could drive much easier the rest of the game.

Oh I agree but by "filler" it could be shorter deals and picks. ATL may be wanting to retool amd getting out from that length of deal to add flexibility may be a move because like you said I don't see them being able to move on from Trae easily.

I tend to think Murray a good acquisition. I never understood why Vlade didn’t pick him up with all the trade manoeuvres in 2017. Also coached by Pop so should be a positiv.

Okongwu is the guy I want most from Atlanta. They've shoved him into a bench role and he would be a perfect fit for us at PF. But I do also like Dejounte Murray. And it would be worth trying to put a trade package together just to keep him from going to the Lakers or some other Western Conference playoff team.

I watched an Atlanta game the other night and Okongwu started at the 5 and looked great. I assume they plan to keep him if they can trade Capela. Actually now that I think about it maybe the Spurs should take Clint in a Murray deal.

The only issue with Murray is I think Fox, Murray, and Monk isn't totally doable size wise. It might be fine though. All 3 have great length but the weight would be an issue for sure.

Probably the Philly game where Capela was out and Big O had 19-11? He went right back to the bench again after that. Atlanta was also chasing Siakam to fill that same PF/C spot. I just get the impression they don't know what they have with him. He's in his 4th season now and he's only started 3 games all year. I thought last year that maybe they were soft-pedaling him to keep his price down before he became a restricted free agent but he's already signed a 4 year extension so what other reason would there be not to start him over Capela?

I was thinking more about the Grant/Thybulle package and one of the biggest drawbacks is the fact that they average a combined 7.0 rebounds per 36. Barnes & Huerter average a combined 9.2 rebounds per game.

With the 27 year old Bruce Brown now in Toronto (and potentially available), I’m wondering if a Grant/Brown package would be better. You still get the defense & toughness Thybulle brings but Brown is also an exceptional rebounder for his size and is a much better ball handler & passer/playmaker. His shooting is down this year but was at 36% and 40% the prior 2 seasons while playing around an excellent passing C.
I’ll take Thybull the defense he’d bring is night and day compared to brown. Brown will get bullied by big wings coke playoff time with Thybull we have 3 big wings to throw at teams and Thybull is an all nba defender

From previous readings I get the idea Thybull is a more likely trade candidate than Grant.
He won’t put a lot of points on the board but neither did Christie. Back in those days I didn’t understand the importance of defence, was always frustrated with Christie but I was younger and foolish. With four other starters that can score recon he’d make a difference.

Agreed!

Even if it’s just Thybull that’s a great addition he’s an all nba defender that can defend 1-4 we desperately need that and every championship team has one

how about going after Brogdon? winning pedigree, strong defender, good three point shooter
Huerter, Lyle’s, Sasha, Mitchell, and draft picks
For
Thybull and Brogdon

Fox
Brogdan/Monk
Thybull/Barnes
Keegan
Sabonis/Len

Let Barnes/Monk be the man with the second unit while our starters gain shooting and defense

Another morning and still no trade news, damn. I’m currently mountain time, a little earlier here only first cuppa coffee.

Portland seems a good trade partner for us but little indication that they’re interested in trading any player regardless of time lines. I suspect DFS might gain some traction as well as Kuzma. Most here seem to like the former. Guess I could get behind it.

Well now there’s a report the BKN will be buyers at the deadline (which would probably take DFS & O’Neale off the board for us).

Just a whole lot of buyers out there, who is seriously for sale besides LaVine and maybe DeJounte Murray
I think eventually Portland will be sellers, no reason Washington wouldn't consider offers, Atlanta is definitely a seller, Golden State seems like they are attempting to move on from some players and then there are the theoretical trades which fit both sides not just selling teams. Murray would be really interesting ( if he can still be the defensive juggernaut he was). My favorite team is still Portland. I would just match salaries with Grant and Thybule and then add in two or three picks. I think their potential is greater than Siakam

I have to say I am really disappointed we didn’t pull the trigger on Siakam. Maybe the slide isn’t helping but I just can’t believe we were willing to give up draft compensation and players but weren’t willing to at least tell Siakam we would offer him a max. That just seems like bad negotiating to me. Bare minimum tell him you are willing and see how the year goes. If it doesn’t work in the end oh well but if it does that would be great. Hope to see us do something soon. I am so tired of Barnes

For me, i would have gladly given up that compensation even for a rental….IF, I felt very comfortable they could win it all by adding him. Not sure he would be the piece, but who knows

"The Pelicans are thought to be open to moving Herbert Jones. They're high on Jones, but it'll be difficult for the team to pay their stars, Jones and Trey Murphy III."

Not sure who this Matt Moore is. So take it with a grain of salt.

Also the segment on the Kings:
"After missing out on OG Anunoby and then Pascal Siakam, the Kings will continue to look for a forward upgrade. Jerami Grant, Bojan Bogdanovic, and Herb Jones are among the names they're expected to explore options for. If the Sixers decide to get spicy and need a third team to move Tobias Harris to, the Kings could have interest."

Jones would be awesome but I fail to see what the Kings would have to offer. The Pels certainly don't need to move Jones prior to this deadline. Murphy still has 1 year left on his deal and all the max contracts on the Pelicans cap are those lower rookie extension level ones. If the Kings could nab any of Harris, Grant, or Bojan that would be a nice upgrade.
