Kings trade rumor SZN 2023-2024 edition!

Guess I don’t really see why Portland would trade with us. They have some nice young players to develop and their frequently mentioned vets are more appealing than what we’d be willing to trade to get them.

Draft capital additions and the contracts we could send them are more easily moved around. Davion is also a nice young player who could do well with a change of scenery. Finally Barnes is a much better player to help mentor and develop young players

Well it appears the Blazers vets being out was not a sign they would be shipped off in the morning, that would have leaked by now. Doesn’t mean they won’t be traded but seems unlikely it’s today. Also, on Vecenie’s trade big board he has 35 names listed and neither Thybulle or Grant are on it. He said the reason is that he doesn’t have a read on whether the Blazers want to move them or not (technically he only says this about Grant).

That would be strange …
Read somewhere in the start of the season that teams are going to be fined if they don’t use the best possible healthy players…
If they aren’t going to trade them and they aren’t injured this is a violation…
Though we saw with Coach’s laptop that rules aren’t the same for everyone….

they were listed out with injuries and illness on the report. At the time just seems odd that all of those guys were out at the same time

They don’t have his bird rights
yeh I just can’t imagine a team other than the Hornets signing him long term. I’m all for second chances but those pictures were rough and he was then accused of throwing pool balls at that same woman’s car this last October with his kids in the car. Smashed the windshield etc. he turned himself in and I haven’t seen anything about it since. Maybe he is innocent of this particular incident but doesn’t look good for him. No team is going to drop 4 years and 120 mil on him this soon after that incident. I’d think teams would want to see another year or two before committing. Charlotte has already invested in him so I’d think they are the most likely to give him a deal. Who knows though.

Interesting... so does that mean the Lakers will be targeting Dejounte? Seems like they have to make a trade at some point this season or they will have another lost season of LeBron and healthy AD.
yeh and I don’t think that saves them. Last year you could blame the 2-10 start, they played pretty well the rest of the year. They don’t have that excuse this year and AD has been one of the best players in the league. They will always be dangerous but they are going to have a tough time getting in. Warriors are almost assuredly going to make a big trade and I have more faith in them turning it around. Houston could drop off but they have so many young assets they could consolidate them and find some help there. Jazz will likely fall off but they are on fire right now. If it wasn’t for all the injuries in Memphis they would he screwed

He doesn’t really make sense for any of the listed teams. twin towers with one non shooter doesn’t have a great track record. The Cavs for example have been better when either of their two centers is off the floor. I liked the Len Sabonis pairing and would like to see it occasionally but how often are you playing Sabonis and Capela? His advance rim protection metrics have trended downward the last several years. Only thing that has gone up has been blocks.

The Lakers might be the one if Atlanta insists on attaching him to a Murray deal. I suppose the Knicks could do it in case Robinson can’t get back this year and use Fournier’s contract. I guess they would then have a good size ender to trade for a star. Now that I think about it that might make sense if the deal with the lakers doesn’t happen

Bull****. That does tell us the Kings might land one of their wings though. Remember, forever all this Collins to Sac talk was going on and then boom, Huerter it was. lol.
True maybe something like Duarte, taking the protection off the 1st this year, and a second rounder we got from Portland for Saddi Bey.

Then do Barnes, Mitchell, Sasha, and 2026 1st
For
Grant

Fox
Huerter/Monk
Keegan/Bey
Grant/Lyles
Sabonis/Len

Here is what Kevin thinks we should do

It’s been well-reported at this point that the Kings are interested in Siakam. But last week, The Athletic’s Sam Amick said that Siakam, who will be an unrestricted free agent this summer, doesn’t view Sacramento “as a good long-term fit.” Siakam’s reported stance must be more about the city than the team because he’s an excellent fit for the basketball team. Siakam could be to Domantas Sabonis and De’Aaron Fox a lot like what Aaron Gordon has been to Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray: providing versatile defense across multiple positions and the skill to fill any role on offense.

My understanding is that the Kings would still trade for Siakam even without the assurance that he’d re-sign, but his lack of commitment certainly changes the assets they’d be willing to give up alongside Harrison Barnes and Kevin Huerter. Odds are, the Kings would get outbid by a team that’s more optimistic that Siakam would stick around past this season.

Whether it’s Siakam or someone else, Sacramento’s goal is to turn Barnes, Huerter, and Davion Mitchell into upgrades to bolster the team’s odds of making a deep playoff run this season. The starting lineup that fueled last year’s run is beginning to trend down.

As I wrote about recently, Kings head coach Mike Brown has limited Huerter’s role this season, and Barnes isn’t an ideal fit next to Sabonis. Siakam is a much better complement to him. But if the Kings can’t get a deal done, they’ll need to review other options to improve on last season’s success.

Sacramento’s attention should also be glued on Blazers forward Jerami Grant and Pistons forward Bojan Bogdanovic. And not just on one of them, but both. Neither player is better individually than Siakam, but together they could be. In theory, the Kings could send Barnes and Mitchell with picks to Portland for Grant and send Huerter with picks to Detroit for Bogdanovic.

The Pistons fire sale may have just begun with the Bagley deal, and Bogdanovic could be next, with a number of teams interested. The Kings should be at the front of the line: Bogdanovic is a more seasoned offensive player than Huerter with his off-the-dribble game, and he’s a better defender, too.

Siakam is a better player than Grant in a vacuum, but Grant is arguably just as good of a fit in Sacramento because of his superior spot-up shooting and defense. They might not be considered franchise-altering acquisitions, but neither was Gordon or Kentavious Caldwell-Pope for the Nuggets. Glue guys are necessary. Acquiring both would maintain the Kings’ long-term flexibility while making them bigger on defense and more dynamic on offense, giving them a better chance to win it all. Not a bad plan B.

Likely the Kings wouldn’t mind a salary dump esque maneuver with two guys they are ready to move on from but have multiple years…and one that would help them compete this season but then clear up a bunch of cap space if it doesn’t work out and he doesn’t re-sign.

That would probably mean no first rounders would be in the deal.

I don’t see why Toronto would want to add a multi year HB deal. Losing the salary would probably be better for them. They were probably only entertaining a HB centered deal because they thought they could get some first rounders or even Keegan…and I don’t want the Kings to trade any first rounders for a guy without a contract.

I can’t remember who said it but Pascal wants to be The Guy and in a perfect world he wants to be in Toronto. Toronto doesn’t appear to be very good with him so I don’t blame them for not wanting to hand over 50 mil a year. He should just go to Detroit. He can average 25 a game there and get the money he wants.
