All the sheets have her out. I didn't watch last night's show. But heard she did the job. It amazes me that they are in danger of losing one of their few homegrown successes.

I think she's green but there's no way they'd have her in NXT for almost 2 years to best Asuka's reign, and really it's a bit absurd for developmental champs to hold longer than a year unless it's part of a chase story.

This may be splitting hairs, but I don't count her as "homegrown" talent for AEW. I mean, I reckon that AEW is where she debuted as a wrestler, but AEW didn't "make" her. She's somebody who came into AEW with her own fame (well, I'd heard of her, anyway)

Strictly as a wrestler she counts. We all know past success doesn't always translate into getting over especially if you don't win over the workrate marks which is largely what AEW is built on.

I suppose; to me, though, that would sort of be like calling Logan Paul "homegrown" WWE talent. If that's how you want to parse it, I guess he counts.
Logan Paul is still just an occasional attraction is he not? But as a wrestler he seems to have done it all under WWE's tutelage. I'm not sure I really would call him a wrestler though. Jade was full time and despite having the secondary women's title in AEW she was pretty much the focal point of the division for almost 2 years.

LP is also a bigger celebrity although I don't quite understand exactly why. Or what's so special about Logan Paul brand gatorade either.

Unfortunately, this only means that someone who (or a handful whom) I actually like in the ring are about to get the axe.
I think that's unclear. There's rumors that TKO wants to position NXT as a premium product and as their primary competitor to AEW. That didn't work last time but it remains to be seen. So my guess is they'll only cut people AEW won't want for the immediate time being. I could see a big round of cuts after the Rumble.

I see your point.

But, it just seems like, whenever they go through these cuts, they end up releasing at least ONE in-ring talent (or backstage talent, i.e. a backstage interviewer) who I enjoy watching.

That's why I made my comment. I would like for it to not be the case this time around, but if history is any indication, I must prepare myself for some degree of disappointment.

I read a couple of reports about Masha Slamovich making history by being ranked #15 on the PWI 500, the highest-ever ranking for a woman. And I found myself thinking, "Highest ranking, ever? Yo, Masha is nice, but can't nobody believe that she's the Number One woman's wrestler in the world?"

... Then it was pointed out to me that, in order to qualify for the PWI 500, you have to have wrestled against men during the qualifying time period, and her ranking was based on the men she beat in intergender matches, and now I feel like a jackass.

... But then I started thinking, "Yo, how did Chyna not crack the Top 100, even when she was Intercontinental Champion?

Are you talking about the annual PWI 500 list, or the monthly PWI 500 list?

I just answered my own question...

That does surprise me, as well, about Chyna. Never knew that!

Not sure if any talent has been released because of the merger yet, but it does appear that the Dyad (fka Grizzled Young Veterans) who had asked for their release a few months ago and were denied, are now out after their contracts completed last week.

I can appreciate how they were unhappy in Schism but knowing they had asked out it certainly felt like a huge swerve when they won the loser leaves NXT match with the Creed Brothers a few months ago.

Chat GPT writing promos? Sounds like some song lyrics I asked for. Maybe it's improved but it was pretty much incapable of not rhyming every single couplet in early revisions.

Elias, Riddick Moss, Top Dolla.

Ali is the only one that's maybe surprising?
Top Dolla is moderately surprising given the fact that his faction was showing up fairly often even if it just was to get the crap kicked out of them by another more interesting faction.

Surprised the Way is apparently skating through these cuts without anyone getting cut, given Johnny and Dexter not showing up on TV since Vince showed back up.
