If I recall the savings on that were pretty marginal. Like 4 million saved or something. This clears that full contract. Hopefully this isn't just being cheap and there's a plan here.
Holmes added absolutley nothing for Kings last season and his contract was huge albatross going forward. Monte scored a small win here but it is a win none the less with 24th pick the catalyst. Slim pickings it would seem getting later in the first round so we'll now see if anything more comes back via Dallas.
The downside of this is Holmes is probably going to start with Dallas and if he does people will hammer Monte for having to send a pick with him but 12 per for a backup C is the worst value on a teams cap in the league.
I know everyone is losing their ish over the “salary dump” but I think Monte deserves a little leeway, you know, being Executive of the year and all. We all know free agency has started…I suspect a big pull or perhaps another deal that lands us a big prize. Patience.

Monte made the common sense move here. Yes, on the surface it sucks but it's the cost of doing business. Now, lets see what 38 brings. Don't be too surprised if our very own Cash Considerations rears it's ugly head haha.

It should also be noted that they should have been the team to sign him in the first place. There was all kinds of chatter back then and Dallas always seemed like the best fit.
