Kings after OG

Yeh I think the OG dream is dead and it probably was never really that likely anyway. If they decide to trade him they could get a lot more from Indiana. Too bad he would be awesome with the Kings.

hey at least we can likely get excited about the draft again!

Love his fit with the rest of the starters but I think that we should keep the big part of our core together and continue improving as a team in year 2. I'd select Cissoko and Walsh in the draft, bring Sasha to the team and wait to keep improving as a group. I'd prefer to have patience and mantain the depth we have with Huerter and Monk and wait to next year to pay Sabonis and Monk their salary rise and also find a way to offer Jaden McDaniels something that Wolves couldn't match. I think he is the perfect fit, more reliable than OG in terms of durability, and he wouldn't cost us neither of our top guys. I don't want to give any of Keegan, Huerter or Monk to bring a defensive specialist, if OG only cost Davion + Holmes + 2 draft picks ok, I could consider it, but I think that Raptors would ask for Keegan or Huerter.

I'd let HB go to have salary cap flexibility next summer and play this year the best one of Sasha, Lyles, Kessler, Cissoko or Walsh next to Keegan in the other F starting position and bring Plumlee to fill the backup C spot in a 1+1 TO deal in order to be able to create the space, with a Holmes + Davion expiring contracts trade next summer for some no lottery pick in '24 draft in order to create the space we need to offer 27-30 M to Jaden McDaniels.

Exactly. There was also a lot of griping that the Kings couldn’t extract value from the 4th pick and trade down for Murray and general reports about being aggressive around the draft proved disappointing… then they sign Monk the first second of free agency and surprise everyone with the Huerter trade (which probably came out of draft related discussions about John Collins if I had to guess).

It's aggression for sure. Shams said the Kings had a deal on the table for Beal, they had a deal on the table for Beal. That doesn't mean Monte will just do any deal. He might have to reverse course and start building some trade pieces again. Might be a good time with the move the Suns made. If Paul goes to one of the LA teams, if the Mavs do something, then the West is probably starting to form a barrier into that top 4-5 next season.

Seems like if the Raptors trade Pascal Siakam to the Kings, it will clean up their books and allow OG a bigger role. Win, win?
I like Siakam a lot. Just a little turned off by his price tag, 35 mill and he’s a few years older than OG. Still a nice fit assuming Keegan can manage small forward duties.

I don’t think people realize the likely asking price for Siakam and OG. We aren’t getting either of those done without giving up Keegan, plus first round picks. Maybe you can swap out a future first for Mitchell or Huerter. I will gladly eat my words but I highly doubt it.

I like Siakam too, but I have doubts he is a good fit being on the floor with both Fox and Sabonis.

OG should be doable w/o Keegan if the Raps had any sense about actual value. OG could ascend to the level of a 1st or 2nd option but that's not proven yet. Far from it. If he does get the chance next season and does that it just makes it harder for the Raps to keep him if they aren't a legit contender. Siakam would take the all in deal and if I'm Monte, I'd still probably give it to them. It's a little bit less of a sure thing until we see what the Suns actually are though. If they are for real just wait. I think Siakam could get the Kings up around there but it would be a gamble more than before the Suns built a super team on paper.

I'm not yet convinced that the Suns are a super team. Their top 3 are often injured and they will have absolutely no depth to cover for thos missed games. Ayton pouts constantly about not getting the ball and It will only get worse for him this season.

I'm not in panic mode just yet about the West.

Yeah the Suns aren't scaring anybody yet.

I don’t disagree with your assessment….I don’t think OG is worth giving up Keegan (especially on a rookie contract). I just think that’s what they will want to make it happen since we don’t have a war chest of first round picks to deal (and I don’t think the raptors are the type of team that gives in just because of the fear of losing a player in free agency — look at Fred VanVleet).

A Keegan package for Siakam feels a bit like Monte’s Halliburton for Domas gamble, so I don’t think it’s out of the realm of possibility. However, to me it sort of feels like that leaves us with three top 30 players, when the reality is we probably need one top ten player and two more in that 15 to 30 range to really compete with a “big 3” centric team. I feel like our chances might be better sticking with the fox/domas/Keegan core and then use our cap space to fill in around them with super role players.

Thanks !
Another CBA question : if the Kings renounce most of their FAs, they can have around 20M$ in cap space. Can they use it to "absorb" OG Anunoby's salary ? (for example : could they trade pick 24 vs OG in this case ?)

Yes, as long as the Kings' salary number after the trade is under the cap, they don't have to match salary.
