Yeah, got to hope there's level heads in the org and we "save Fox" from himself if there's a chance of long-term damage. Especially on his shooting hand. You know Fox is going to want to suit up no matter what.

I want this series win, but we also are in year 1 of what I hope is another 5+ years of being a playoff contender with Fox as the lead of the franchise. Don't want to sink this ship just as we're finally getting out of the harbor.
Well put. Professional and college coaches preach "one game at a time" and many could care less what the long-term ramifications of rushing a player back may be. (This is especially true in football.) Fortunately, Coach Brown is already thinking about next year, as his comments after game 3 attest.

Is a broken finger the type of injury that can be aggravated in that way? I thought it was stuff like muscles and tendons that can actually tear if you but more strain on them (like the Durant injury). Broken bones seem much easier to mend on their own and don't have the long term career ramifications. But I'm not a medical person.

It appears this is a pain management type of injury than one that will lead to further damage, but pain management can sometimes lead to full system issues - like a sore back harming a knee or vice versa. Probably not likely to happen with a finger, but freak incidents still happen like a player attempts to avoid contact he'd normally take leading to a slip and all the sudden you've blown your knee out. And of course there is a matter of how much it could affect his shot.

I'm thinking a nice solid wrap with long lasting lidocaine. And maybe a low level general pain killer as well. Index finger (from when I used to hoist up shots in my glory days of buzzer beaters on the JV team) ... the index finger isn't the main one you use for shooting, much more the middle and ring fingers.

No idea. And obviously no idea of how severe the injury actually is. I'm not internet doctor.

All I'm hoping is we're taking a long-term view of our 25 year old PG who's quickly ascending into superstardom after a career best season. That if he's out there, it's Moreso just pain management rather than him risking any sort of long-term consequence.

If that's the case, then I'd have to imagine that Sabonis is a bigger concern. I know that's a thumb on his non-shooting thumb, but still, a broken finger is a broken finger.

If Fox grits it out, he'll be playing a fraction of the games Sabonis has and Kobe did before them did with finger injuries.

I feel that has to factor into things somewhat.
