On the brightside I don't think the Kings need to be a top defensive team to win.
Games where we can contribute a win to our defense are very very far and few in between. It is clear that our sparkling offense sometimes successfully masks our defensive woe.

What we need to win a Playoffs series is to keep playing our history-making offense at its peak efficiency while playing above-average defense for as long as we can, which is harder said than done.

I feel like this is setting me up to tempt fate. I'm inclined to let our records speak for themselves against the rest of the West. But I do not want to play a team with a big bruising C that can bully and frustrate Domas and potentially put him in foul trouble early.
Yeah, I think every playoff team will be tough in their own way. I don't see any "favorable" matchups

Yeah, this is what I was talking about earlier. You can either say, "Kings don't match up particularly well with anybody" or "No team out there is particularly favorable against the Kings".

I simply root for a fun series, regardless. See if this young cowboy with a quick draw can outshoot his opponent when every moment matters.

Internet forum/chat room people are the most toxic. It's always extremes. We win=We will never lose again! We lose=we will never win again. I'm not religious, but some of you need Jesus.
This is FAN’atic behavior and it is not a new thing. It’s gonna get much worse as the team gets better. It is the way of the fan, doesn’t matter what sport it is. The expectations are gonna grow and I can already tell it’s gonna drive certain posters absolutely crazy. It is what it is.

Who do we match up well against?
My take on teams I'm not sure on "matching up", but on game-play? :

Want: Warriors, Thunder, Clippers, Grizzlies (actually)....Kings played the Griz well this year.

Warriors bring out the the chaos in the Kings which is most fun to watch. Think All-star game every game of the series. Scores in the 140s or 150s in half the games

Even: Mavs, Suns (without Durant), Lakers

Don't want: Nuggets, Twolves. Suns (with Durant)

Kings vs Clippers or Warriors would be fantastic - exactly styles that cozy up to the Kings offense.......

On the brightside I don't think the Kings need to be a top defensive team to win. They've shown once they get to that middle rung they're pretty darn unstoppable. The question now is how to get there every night? I still think more switch is the only way. They ran a lot of switch and pressure during that stretch of games. The help defensive scheme is what it is.
We're 1-2 key defensive acquisitions away from being an average to above average defensive team. That alone would make us immediate championship contenders. We don't need to trade for Durant, Irving, Lebron James, AND Austin Reeves. McNair's a genius.

I actually like Reeves but he'd be redundant on the team - kinda like having Bogdonavic back although neither would be bad, it wouldn't address defensive problems. Who I'd like the Kings to get from the Lakers is Vanderbilt (not gonna happen), a defensive disrupter with average offense. - a worker bee player and scrapper.

This list is not far off my own, I do really have a superstitious thing going on though, I will say one area that’s a huge caveat to me on this list is whether Steven Adams is available. I’d move at least one of your evens into the Kings edge category but won’t say who because of my jinx thing. Should be obvious from my posts on this board who I’m not scared of from that group though.

It was a joke.

It was a comment about how all these aging superstar rosters are just trading each other back and forth to try to gang up for a championship. It's dorky. We're cool. We're real basketball.

And unfortunately while Austin Reeves is a decent basketball player and I'm sure a good person - he has become the poster boy for inflated stardom and the Golden Whistle granted by Master Silver in order to get the Fakers in the playoffs.

And yet despite his anointed superstardom nobody can spell the kid's name right.

Wolves scouting team got this win for them. They had a very good game plan - and the physical length to execute it. Eliminating the three was a key for them. They're a good team.
100% this. It's one thing to plan such a scheme but to execute it well on a B2B is quite impressive. Props to the Wolves.

They took out the DHO action and most of the 3-point attempts the Kings took were well contested. We should have run more flare action to get some separation for our three point shooters.

The silver lining is that even with the abysmal 3-point shooting, it was still a 4-point game. The Kings offense is so potent. With some tweaks on offense and better defense, this team could go places.

The only bad match up for the Kings in the postseason is the Bucks/Boston who they won't have to face till the finals, the West is full of pretenders/regular season heros and one potential but injury prone super power in the Suns. Kings should not be afraid of anyone the major West contender in Memphis/Denver are as flawed as any team and could lose to the likes of the Twovles/Lakers/GSW.

I didn't get to watch last night game. It's Comtrash internet outage. I was watching the scores...they're close...Kings just couldn't get over the hump. I think Keegan is the key when playing teams with length...he had to be better in all areas.

^^^ Some of it, maybe even most of it is that. But also, there's a lot of people who simply can't be bothered to do the bare minimum of learning somebody's name. That and my personal (admittedly anecdotal) history means that I'm never willing to give anybody the benefit of the doubt that them misspelling someone's name isn't done intentionally as a sign of disrespect.

Except for @HndsmCelt. I've known him long enough to know that he don't mean anything buy it; he just has spelling issues. :p

Like and respect all of the analysis. But to put it simply:
1) the defense is going to be the same the rest of this year
2) the Kings make their shots = a win
3) the Kings miss their shots = loss.
That is the year in summary.

The double overtime win against the Clippers was an outlier where both teams consistently made their shots. Still a win but not many teams can match the Kings when their shots are dropping.

Except the warriors, suns , and mavs

I think we lost on purpose. A Lynnsanity sighting? Why? He’s not gonna magically slow down anyone and, hes rusty, he throws off our rhythm. Just makes zero sense. I don’t wanna face the warriors first round personally. I’ll take T wolves first any day. Idk if we lost to them in a few reg season games. I find it hard to believe the defending champs will lose 1st round to anyone. Brown is playing chess not checkers

The day after, you gain a different perspective on the loss.

1) we started in a hole (something we seem to do 70% of the time)
2) we were ahead at half time
3) game was back and forth in third but generally within a couple points with us having the lead some of the time
4) we still scored 115 on an off night

Give the wolves credit for their game plan but it’s not like they dominated. We shot terribly and still could have won.

we are 1-3 against them but id still rather play them than the Warriors. That team is just stacked with playoff experience and that does matter. They are still the most dangerous team in the west playoffs until proven otherwise imo.
