I get it and it would have been special but I wanted it over last night. I wouldn’t have been surprised if we won tonight if Minny lost the night before
I wanted it done last night too, and with three chances to clinch tonight not happening, it's now just up to a bunch of random opportunities (but probably realistically Wed night we win in Portland so yay). But you know they could have put up a big screen and lit the beam last night with a watch party which would have been less lame than if we lost tonight and somehow clinched because Suns or Clips also deuced the bed and everyone partied after an L.

They actually have consistently (with a very small sample size, granted) play worse when they play with each other. It also creates a bigger logjam in the post for their lengthy wings to drive. It's just congestion all over the place.
yep. KAT is a great shooter for his size but he still takes a bunch of paint touches/shades inside. Having him and Gobert out there at the same time only turns Ant into a perimeter scorer, which he can do but is also sorta like when we tried turning Tyreke into a catch and shoot small forward for some reason.

Oof... I was so high on Tyreke.

I just want to say. This team was NOT predicted to be here. The fact that they are speaks a whole lot of volume. They are young. Fairly inexperienced. And still figuring things out together.

The fact they are her and doing what they are doing should be enough. Some of ya need to chill and reassess.

Yes, we want them to go all the way. Was that really going to happen in year 1? 99.9% NO.

Will we have a strong chance to advance to round 2? Possibly, depending on how many lessons we learn in the regular season before we go into a series.

We start a rookie. Our #1 scorer has never been to the playoffs. We have a veteran SF who crap his pants in the playoffs. A center who is undersized physically but oversized in the heart department. And a SG who was wrongly used in his playoff experience.

Let them grow. This is year 1 of a 5-7 year run. ****ing chill. You tiktok instant gratification Era peeps just drive me.

Do yall even know what 1999 and round 1 against Utah was even like?
Yep, and I remember the team that eventually almost made it all the way in 2002 looked quite a bit different from where it started roster wise too. Getting to that next tier often comes with some tough decisions and Monte has already shown he's got the guts Petrie showed back then too. That's actually a very interesting conversation in many ways and this playoff run is going to be quite interesting as well. Tonight might have been a preview. This team might have to do what they did tonight and switch to being more pick and roll and less system. Just like that team did. In the playoffs they practically cut Vlade from his playmaking role in the system and he focused more on defense and screen play.

It's like Doncic and Irving, but with centers.

Also, every minute that Big Sawfty plays against the Kings is a minute that Naz Reid does not.

Maybe the King was just like the idea of celebrating clinching a playoff berth with some voodoo donuts?
Hehe I look forward to seeing the next game's post-game conference with Fox having just clinched a Playoffs spot where he'd just let it go and start criticizing the refs and everything while eating a muffin...

Man- I usually avoid this board after a loss. Should have done it tonight too. What a toxic game thread. Glad to know that the clear #3 team in the West, losing tonight, is a harbinger of us losing a first round series against every team in the West. Apparently we should just forget that this team has been rolling for the better part of a month. Typical Kings fan mentality; once something goes wrong we are the worst team ever and can't beat anyone.

It was one game. We shot terribly. We looked flat. We will be better. And put me firmly into the camp of Minnesota being worse when KAT and Gobert both play. KAT cannot guard the 4, and he is routinely giving up more than he scores at the 4.

Oof... I was so high on Tyreke.
The worst part about it is wondering how much of his downfall is on us between forcing the 20-5-5 campaign on him which probably contributed to his injury and then jerking him around the next 2 years. And I have no idea what he was using because I've heard different things, but if it was a result of pain meds from the injury, I think the org does bare some blame.

That was a really bad lost. They were coming off a back to back in an extremely close game against the Warriors. Tonight, they also rested KAT... and we let their role players beat us. Our 3pt shots weren't falling either. I think Keegan is probably feeling the pressure of breaking the rookie record + clinching + his dad at the game tonight. He needs to take a breather and I think fans need to stop holding the record over his head. He's going to eventually break it whenever he does. Malik Monk can be so awful sometimes..... feels like it's been all the time lately. His turnovers have been god-awful and reminds everyone of why he sat on the bench in Charlotte. Need a lot more consistency from him if we want to make noise.

Collectively, we still have to learn to play better defense. If we keep playing this type of defense, we legitimately might get swept in the 1st round. It seems like "home court" advantage means nothing to the guys.

I think that is where VF21 actually shined. She took the time to speak to each individual who was lemming style ledge jumping and talked them down back into reality. It was a skill that is hard to come by.

I had hopes that Kyrie's off-the-ball movement would've helped the unlikely alliance but what they are giving up defensively is so massive, even Hornets saw fit to exploit.

It's possible, the closest comp off all O no D I can think of recently are the Hawks, BUT, they also show that if you can out shoot the opponent you might make it all to the conference finals at some point, lol. However, if you don't get your **** together on defense they also show it might just be a blip in time. If the Kings can get their offense running 4 nights out of 7, they ain't getting swept by anyone and will own a few series for sure.

I think that at some point Kings fans are going to have to accept that the team is what it is, for the remainder of this season, anyway, and have faith that McNair will address the defensive woes in the offseason. In the meantime, enjoy the ride.

You had hopes?

I'm enjoying the trainwreck, especially since nobody is gonna get sick drinking the water.
