Kessler Edwards had an immediate impact on the game, the secret? His ability to defend 1 on 1 and/with help, he shuts off driving lanes, fights through screens, stays with his man and has great length and strength to contest shots. This in return gives the rest of the team the ability to help less and deny passing lanes and/or give help and return to their man handily.

It was also more than just the 1 on 1 defense, look at the orientation of his body/hands and communication on defense with his team, the way he hedges his body, forced guards and ball handlers into help using angles, footwork to stay connected. Made easy passes more difficult and blew up several seconds of shot clock every play. This really helped weak side defense rotate, and doing this on the perimeter on the focal point of ball handlers and an all star level scorer? Impressive

He also has an intensity and energy/hustle that I wish Keegan had or could develop. Great rebounding and wasn't afraid to hit the floor.

We saw a steep drop off when Huerter and Monk were in at the same time, swing passes were decimating us. But with Edwards in he really provided that balance that seemed to be finally missing on the defensive end where teams aren't just like, "Oh okay we can get this or go at him", instead it was them having to make a play, individually. Tonight. The Suns were actively hunting Booker switching onto Barnes which is infinitely better than Booker hunting a switch onto someone like Huerter or Monk.

She seems really cool on twitter but I don't think she's the biggest basketball brain in the Kingdom. Still take 50 of her to one Ham.
Yea i can't exactly blame her. I wasn't exactly optimistic until i got to see how good that Keegan pic actually was and is during summer league. Then i was like ... wait a minute, am i feeling hopeful!?

Wow, Kessler just show Mike Brown he is better than all the bench players tonight and even better than some starters. He should get more minutes from now on. He is EXACTLY the kind of player Mike Brown is looking for...someone that actually a disruptive force in defense. The Kings don't have anybody that can play that kind of defense beside Mitchell....not with that kind of length. He does so much more like rebound and hustling as well.

Did you guys see Sabonis dived for the loose ball at the end there? Man, that was a risky play, he could have broke or twist his arm or something because Ayton was diving on top of him. I couldn't bare watching that...it could have been a disaster season if Sabonis is out. He proves he's iron man once again.

What else...Trey Lyle and Monk contribute significantly. Metu got some key stop and stole some ball. Sabonis was clutch and so is Fox. DPOG should go to Kessler obviously. Murry and Huerter are not good defenders and probably get yanked if they keep getting dominated...Kings can't afford to shift momentum because they can't stop nobody.

Edwards deserved the golden chain, but I have to give some love to Metu. His active hands in this game were great, resulting in several steals. This was a game where I could really see the coaching having a big impact on his game. I'd give the game ball to the bench. Edwards, Metu, Mitchell, Lyles - they all made very good contributions. It's a very positive sign for your team when the bench guys win a road game for you.

This team is developing and coming together so much quicker than I ever thought possible. At the all star break any talk of 50 wins was straight lunacy but an 8-1 run since has left us just needing to finish 10-6 to get there. Why not us?!
I'd be worried that the biggest mistake that the Kings could make in the offseason could be to try and go all-in on a homerun swing, instead of sticking with whatever McNair's original plan was, and letting this team continue to grow organically. I feel like y'all's priority should be 1) upgrading the backup center position, 1a) finding out how committed Murray is to improving his game over the offseason, and then going from there.

Bad take because Ham is awful. He thinks he’s the smartest person in the room and gets hypercritical of the team even when we win
It's a bad take to take an enthusiastic fan who is good tv but may not always have great takes vs. a bozo who is bad tv and is a bozo?

I didn't pick them to make the playoffs either, with how tough the west looked at the beginning of the season. It was reasonable, unless one is always looking for homer picks
Yeah, when a team has lost for as many years as the Kings have, it's always tough to predict the turn. All I can say now is, we're a loooong way from hoping to lose so we can get a higher pick in the draft.:D

I can't be mad at Morgan. She's like a ton of Kings' fans - emerging from the trauma of being a Kings' fan for the last 20 years.
For real.

We're literally the best ORtg of all-time, we're 14-games over .500, we have 2 all-stars and potentially 2 All-NBA players, we have a stud rookie wing, we have a coach in his first year who seemingly turned the culture of this team in 65 games. But for some reason, I still get this nagging feeling that the wheels are going to fall off for some reason.
