NFL 2022-2023 Season Thread

I like Wilson but to get any value out of him is nice. He’s unsigned next year and they drafted two guys just this last draft… with CMC and Eli back, there’s just no room.

We’ll certainly see how ready RB’s 3 & 4 are when either CMC or Eli get banged up in the future.
Plus it now opens up a spot to draft Zach Charbonent in the third or second (trade up) round. Dude's the leading candidate for the Doak Walker award. Is 220, likely will run 4.5 to 4.6, can block, is a one cut and go RB (Shanny's type), and can catch the ball (not quite CMC, but better than any of the recent niners RBs not named Frank Gore):

Edit: Watch the two consecutive plays starting at 2:27 (2:43 for the second play). Watch the full highlights for all the other crazy runs.

How many running backs are you trying to have on the roster at once? The Niners already had devoted considerable roster space to the position as it was and that's even before Elijah Mitchell and TDP got healthy.
Its about RB quality as well as quantity. Wilson is better than Price.....and RB as well as LB are the best positions to keep extra roster space. This move is in the same vein same vein as letting Mostert walk.

He could, but he's better backup. He's better than Price. The signing is the real reason - its pinching pennies.....
No, it's being smart with your cap lol. CMC is an incredibly expensive RB; you can't afford to spend anything on his back-ups. Which is the case with Mitchell and TDP on their rookie scale deals.

Getting a pick for a guy you aren't going to resign who maybe will play like 10% of snaps a game (if that) is good business.

Its insurance - but Penny-wise pound-foolish - in essence they already made the cap stetch earlier as you mention, "incredibly expensive" - they are doubling down now on McCaffrey's health and not willing to spend moderately for a good backup signing. They didn't want to resign Mostert either who has some gas left in the tank. They'll pay green-eggs in ham for a good QB backup, but that's another story.

Not sure why we're being polite and just singling out their secondary lol
That entire organization is a walking tire fire.
Texans running game was good. And pass rush was ok, Passing game not good. Eagles TE feasted on 'em all night. The Eagles have done well, but have only faced 2 good teams in 8. I'm not completely sold on NFC East. Aside from the Titans, they're not facing very good AFC competition either.
