So Ordinary That It's Truly Quite Extraordinary

Is this upcoming draft even all that great? I expect Monte to make a good choice either way. Not sweating the “Woss” here
there are 2-3 guys in the "next four" - who of course could wind up being the ones who move up that I am excited about. There's also a few guys I am convinced are busts in the presumed top 4.

I would say our biggest need was going to be filled with a Holmes trade but that's probably out the window for now.

And for the first time in a long time, there are like plenty of BPA level fit options. This shouldn't be a year where you say, "Dang it! Missed out by 1 pick!".
Yeah, the way this roster is currently filled out, you just need an impact player but he can pretty much be any position aside from center (and in this case, the only non-Chet center even remotely in the lottery range is Jalen Duren).

It's not like last year where we pretty much had to hope and pray that one of the wings would slip to us instead of Davion. With Barnes and Lyles, the Kings have two competent forwards now and DDV and Davion being able to guard up onto most wings has reduced our desperation in that regard (plus we've got solid bench-level depth there with Holiday and Lamb -who we can probably re-sign for cheap).

Our two best players are out and Harrison was a net negative. At the end of the game, we were rocking a lineup with Damian Jones, Trey Lyles, Justin Holiday, DDV, and Davion that was essentially only in the game because Buddy Buddied and Davion decided to take the game over. Aside from blatantly throwing the game, how else were we supposed to lose?
Does this starting 5 win 17 games over the course of a year? With HB in lieu of Holiday, I'd probably bet the under 20.

Again, we all wanted the loss. But these wins are more acceptable because you're not just beating up bad teams with your full strength squad and giving your young guys a chance to step up into a major role. Metu, Davion, DDV and Jones were those guys tonight. And even still, it took a last 2nd tip from Jones to get the W. No Queta is beyond irritating, but hopefully he works his way in over the next few games.

And it should be noted that the Kings were most likely going to lose this game until Buddy did what he does and randomly Jimmered the ball off his foot even though the Kings were clearly trying to foul him to stop the clock.

Hall of Famer
Just watched the last 5 minutes…..Lol at Buddy dribbling off his foot. Kind of pissed that Quetta gets zero playing time. Missed opportunities to see if we have anything with him and do we continue to invest time with him.

Idk how I feel about it. This may be the first draft in years where I don’t really care if we land a top 3 pick. My 3 favorite guys in this draft are Jaden Ivey, Bennedict Mathurin, and AJ Griffin. I’m just not a fan of Chet Holmgren and Paulo. Could go either way on Jabari Smith.

IDK other teams manage to figure it out. Especially on the road.
Portland is gonna bounce us next and then Spurs. Its in the cards. My liver can't take much more. :(

BTW I'm all for trading this pick if we can get a key player. Still, higher the better no matter.

I mean, even the Blazers beat the Pistons and their entire roster at this point is Ben McLemore and a bunch of G-Leaguers.

It is impossible to lose every game you play. Especially when the other team is also trying to lose/has Buddy Hield on the floor.

The Kings were missing Sabonis, Fox, and Holmes. That's unintentionally about as tanktastic as you can get. Add in that it was both an away game and theoretically a "revenge game" for Buddy and Tyrese and on paper this seems like a clear loss for the Kings.

I've often complained about the Kings pushing hard to win meaningless games at the end of losing seasons, but this one just is what it is.

Those were the three players drafted in front of Mitchell which I think is the point. Mitchell's great and we're starting to see his offense take off a bit now that he's getting time. But no doubt any of those three would have been a huge shot in the arm for this team and roster and we'd only be looking for one starter instead of two this offseason.
The other real problem is Mitchell is showing value but you only realize the full value when Fox is out because Mitchell and Fox are not complementary players in the least. So you end up with a 2+2 = 3 kind of equation. Not paying attention to fit is one reason this team has gotten worse every year Monte has been GM.

Not that hard when apparently for some of our members, this sensational rookie guard was a wrong pick.
Where are you going to play him when Fox gets back? Is he a good player? Sure. Do we have the starter minutes at point he deserves? Nope.

Really it’s too bad Golden State didn’t draft him as he would be a perfect fit for them.

i actually think they can compliment each other if Mitchell’s 3 point shot continues to develop. I don’t see why a 3 and D player with the ability to get to the hoop is a poor fit for Fox. I don’t know if he fixed his free throws but he has been shooting them with a higher arch and is 9-9 the last two games. If that trend continues it’s a decent bet he finds a way to become consistent from beyond the arch.
