Kings trade Tyrese and Buddy for Sabonis and Holiday and Lamb

Haha watch this! The headline “should the league have stepped in”. “Malpractice” so much wrong info. Well done talking heads!

I get that national sports media isn't clued into the Kings at all. That's understandable. But are they just inventing their own info?

  • Haliburton hasn't recorded a single DNP-CD this season. He missed two games with lower back tightness and two games due to COVID protocols.
  • Sabonis is signed for two more years, just like Hali and Buddy.
  • Hield is a flamethrower? His FG%, 3P%, and TS% are all career lows this season. Even his assist rate and rebounding rates have dipped.
  • And just a slip of the tongue I'm sure, but also funny that Jalen Rose said Haliburton is going to be playing in "India".
Again, I was as upset as anyone that Haliburton was dealt, but man, you'd think we'd traded prime Durant for Boban the way they are discussing it. But what's worse is that they are using completely wrong info to bash the Kings on this trade.

Durant for boban is generous. They are acting like the Kings traded Durant for today's retired Kwame Brown and a bag of chips. SABONIS IS A BONAFIDE ALL STAR!!!!! Haliburton is a good young player who's creativity has lead to a bag of nothing for the Kings. All you have to do is watch what Sabonis and Fox did to the T-Wolves yesterday. A team the beat the pants off (granted a depleted roster) a day prior to the arrival of sabonis. They are acting as if Justin Holiday and Lamb arent legit NBA Players who literally helped mitchell clamp down on the 3pt shooting spree from the day prior. This is the media as they tend to do just throwing shade on the kings for no reason. They feel that Fox has regressed...YOU TOOK THE BALL OUT OF HIS HANDS 50% OF THE TIME and then said go find your rhythm!!!!!!! Put the ball back in his hands and he was without a doubt the most dominant player on the court the last 2 games. The difference? A big haus in sabonis who can keep up with his capabilities. And this morning, not one ass hat in the media is talking about eating crow.

I don't know why any of these "experts" try to pretend like they even watch the Kings. They have no idea what's going on and pretending like they do would be embarrassing except that the majority of their audience doesn't watch the Kings either and so they don't know any better,

Who ever called David Jacoby an "expert"? I happen to like Jacoby, but he's just a dude who's on TV. He doesn't have a journalism background, and he's never presented himself as a "reporter." He parlayed producing other people's podcasts into an on-screen role, and now he's on ESPN, because he got in good with a former NBA player. That's it.

Man, this hurts. Hali about to have a 15-year grudge against us.
Yep.

2 days later, and it still bothers me. But not as bad as on trade day.

I still hate the trade and firmly believe it will prove to be another in a long line of boneheaded mistakes, but my apology to everyone for polluting the thread with my anger, frustration and bewilderment.

It’s not been easy to be a fan of this org for as long as I have been. I was 14 when the KINGS moved here and I bought in 100%. I’ve been broken down so many times over the decades and Tuesday was just another instance. Sorry.

The truth is that the Kings have been sorry for something like 31 of the 37 years they've been in Sacramento. Your mistake was in allowing the six years that they weren't sorry to cause you to have expectations of them ever being anything other than sorry. If you expect them to be sorry, you'll never be disappointed.

This. The Boogie trade honestly lowered my expectations of the franchise so much that I've somehow become among the more optimistic Kings fans here.

You’re right.

Unfortunately my fandom doesn’t allow my brain to buy in to that line of thinking EXCEPT during the moments when I’m pissed off and upset. Usually after another setback.

But when I come back around to center, it’s denial all over again. Rinse, repeat.

Having too much loyalty is my cross to bear, apparently.

Judging by the reaction of the media talking heads they put most of the blame of Pacers struggles on Domas .Imo it is more on Carlisle for allowing Levert and Brogdon to dribble the air out of the ball instead of letting him be an offensive juggernaut and trusting his basketball IQ to make the right play.If Sabo is your 1a or 1b your team will not win many low scoring games but as last night's game proves an excellent offensive flow can be a winning recipe as well(Btw Wolves are 14th in def rating this year so they are ok on defense).

some great points. Monte really went and took the #12 pick and got a 2-time all star who’s just one year older than Fox. I doubted him for 48 hours but don’t think that’s happening again.
I had pointed that out as the trade warmed on me. This trade said as much about Monte being able to detach, which has been a huge problem for the Kings to even own obvious mistakes, as it did about Viveks need to win now.

Checking our record with Hali as the main ball handler, it wasn’t equating to wins. Good player, great guy, but we got better.
To be fair, Hali (and Fox) had no quality around them to turn it into wins. With Sabonis and some dependable vets around the place, Fox will find it easier and will start getting some wins.

We had a bunch of misfitting pieces that have not amounted to much as a team. Now you have 3 solid (albeit not brilliant) vets in Sabonis, Barnes and Fox to move forward with.

I can't see that delivering a championship any time soon but I can see it being a borderline play off team. Sabonis will make life a lot easier for Fox and vice versa. Barnes also all of a sudden becomes the 3rd option instead of 2nd which also makes life easier for him.

I would not be surprised if Fox is an all-star next season simply by having Sabonis to make life easier for him. Sabonis making the all-star in the West is a bit more of a tough proposition with Jokic and AD around the place.

Honestly, I really loved hali. Thats the thing, if you play hard and love the fans, the kings fans love you heart and soul. But frankly, there needed to be a shock to the system here in order to move forward. Does anyone think we could get the kind of talent that we collected over the last 2 days without giving up a huge piece like hali? Even to get harden, the sixers had to give up curry. Its a sucky part of the business if you cant sign good free agents or develop your players, and so far, the kings have developed enough good players and no all star is clamoring to come to Sacramento via free agency. Who knows, with fox/domas, and barnes if they make some noise, may someone will buck that trend.

I'm coming around as well, although I admit it's heavily influenced by the glow of last nights love fest game. For me personally, I'm happy we've picked a path and, frankly, glad that I've got hope that next year we might actually have something vs. waiting 4 years to build around Hali in his prime. I think as long as Sabonis works at least at a high/solid level on the court, I can live with Hali becoming a future all star with the Pacers (if that ever happens).

I wonder if Hali thinks Fox's injury was a coordinated plan to feature him I am sure he's got a lot running through his mind when it seemed like he was Monte's golden child.
