Kings trade Tyrese and Buddy for Sabonis and Holiday and Lamb

Facts about the Kings:
-16 games below .500
-6th worst record in the NBA
-Interim coach

And people think we can still make the playoffs this year? We are literally 13th overall in the Western Conference standings.

I have no clue how anyone has bought into whatever the heck Monte or Vivek is trying to sell. It’s the same old record full of empty promises and unrealistic goals.

The national media has 0 bias against us. Our horrific moves speak for themselves. If the national media really hated us, they’d bring up Bagley being the biggest bust since Oden, but they don’t care enough about the team.

We have a 50% chance of getting a top 4 pick in a draft where the top 4 is loaded and our idiot owner is going to throw that away so he can attempt the exact same mistake that has plagued this franchise nearly every year for the last 15 years.

It's the definition of insanity.

I don't think the majority of us think competing for the play-in game is worth doing at all, let alone jeopardizing draft position for.

The national media can (and probably should) hammer this franchise more for taking Bagley over Doncic. My only point is that they seem to think trading Haliburton for Sabonis was an awful, inexplicable move. I love Hali as much as anyone on this board, but right now Sabonis is a better player and the Kings had no other trade chips that would net an impact player. I don't have to like the trade to see that it was relatively fair. But the narrative seems to be that the Kings got fleeced somehow. And that's within the context of whatever the hell Portland is doing.

But now we have a real all star and basically Ja Morant again now that the Haliburton boat anchor has cast aside. We’re assuredly bypassing the play-in! PLAY OFFS BABY!

Cuz people aren’t crapping on ty like they were on fox. They both play poor defense but fox is to blame. They’re both starting on a losing team but it’s fox that gets the blame. Ty doesn’t need the excuse cuz no one was blaming him yet. It would have come after fox was traded and ty got a pay raise. Trust me. But since ty was on a rookie contract and only his second year, he shouldn’t bear the responsibility of vaulting this crap team to playoff contenders. He had potential to do so and I wish he was with the team still to see it through, but it’s tiresome that fans need to pit our good players against each other all the time.
THIS!

The national media don't watch the kings. They make that abundantly clear when they say literally anything about the team or the players on it.

And on the sly they got the two guys in Lamb/Holiday that have the most firm grasp of off ball movement on that team. Lamb coming from UCONN especially is built on moving off the ball and mobility away from action.
this is where I feel like the trade felt fair to me. Two wings vets, long wingspan, can hit the 3. Yeah super large majority of us are sad Ty is gone. I hope he turns into a beast and has a successful career but at the same time, he may just stay pretty much what he is now who knows. Monte had to make moves and the trade was pretty nice where we didn’t get the bad end like we expect as Kangz fans. Can’t blame the guy for wanting to keep his GM paychecks coming in for at least a little longer.

What game? If you are in love with a player that much. Do like bricklayer did when demarcus got traded. He followed him. It’s simple answer. The easiest answer and quite frankly an answer some of you should commit to.

Everyone processes differently, Grant. Give the go get a new team garbage a rest.
I understood the Chris Webber trade we all went nuts because we got nothing back. I was upset with the demarcus trade but understood. This acting out is ridiculous. We traded nice young pg from a log jammed position for an all star in a position we haven’t had since demarcus was traded. We also go wing and defensive depth with holiday. Lamb is just a money matched may even be let go. In all honesty I am more upset about buddy. Haliburton was good don’t get me wrong but trading him isn’t a franchise killer he was just fan favorite because of attitude and demeanor. He just never excited me.

Only reason Hali was traded was our other guards weren’t going to return sh*t. There was a logjam. Sure. But he should’ve been the guard that the Kings held onto.

Would davion and a frp instead of Hali been an easier pill to swallow?

Hali has some pretty great shooting numbers, BBIQ, and super elite passing... Plus wants to be here, plus is on a rookie deal, plus can play with just about anyone...

Sabonis is a big talent, but he and Fox might not even be a great fit, and I think chances are pretty good he bolts after 2 years.

It's exactly the kind of short sighted, high risk/low reward move that wont do anything this year but **** up our lotto chances. A Fox/Sabonis core seems like it'll just be busted defensively and top out as first round fodder.

I'll happily eat crow if it works out btw, and now that I'm past the "shocked" phase, I'm in the "morbidly curious" phase... but there's a reason people here are upset and there's a reason everybody is saying Indy won the trade.

To be honest it won’t work if Holmes is still around

and playing less selfishly
wishful thinking

I didn't see any skip passes from Fox last night.
and you never will

he started playing bully ball in the 2h going 1 vs 5 three times (missing on 2/3)
surprise, surprise

Not Fox. Easier to trade someone, who isn't your cornerstone.
it takes two for a dance... nobody wants fox with his habits and contract... this is why we traded hali

at the end of a day, if this move is getting us much closer to an end of vivek's reign, i'm ok with sacrificing hali

I would hope this franchise isn't that arbitrary. If the Kings viewed Haliburton as anything close to a franchise building block they wouldn't have traded him. Fox sitting out, even though I'm sure his ankle was hurt, and then coming back litertally the day a deal was made makes me think that indeed, Fox being out was about lifting the value of the pieces around him.
