Coach Christie! It’s actually happening!

I’ve been out of town most of the summer, so I was shocked when I heard recently that DC was going to be an assistant coach.
I’m really gonna miss him in the booth. I know he was kinda goofy at times, but he also showed he has great knowledge of the game. Also Doug is tough. I remember his on the court fight with Rick Fox of the Lakers back in the day. Doug would not back down - a tough dude. The King’s need to establish that in their “DNA” or something. But Doug is also very respectful and serious about the game.
I agree with Tetsujan, he could be Walton’s replacement someday.
I also wonder if there might be some friction between him and KHTK and the TV folks after Grant left/was fired? I have no reason for saying this, and am not trying to create a rumor, but I think when Grant left a lot of things changed. Maybe Doug didn’t mesh all that well with Mark Jones? Any thoughts?
I tried to find a Grant’s Rant on the subject of DC leaving broadcasting, but haven’t found one yet.
When you think of it, DC and Grant’s career have sure taken vastly different directions.
What? Jones and Doug were friends before they even did broadcasting together lol.

Yippie!!!!!!!!! Now I can listen to the broadcast without cringing every few minutes. Go Kayte.
This is probably the thing I am least excited about. I think she's terrible unless you want to constantly hear her reply to almost any point with "Absolutely!" The combo of her and Kyle came off too try hard for my tastes. I think I hate hearing about "big boy moves" more than "butter"

I'm sure not on that island with you. I love listening to her do games.

I think she takes her role very seriously -- sometimes potentially to the point of over-prepared... although that's not really a bad thing in my book. You're not going to hear a lot of silly catch phrases or manufactured emotion for the broadcast. Just pushing facts and her viewpoint, which I like. She's very strong with the X's and O's. I think she would be a great fit next to Mark Jones who has a little bit more personality than you sometimes hear from the play by play guy.

Has she been formally announced as the replacement at this point?

I suspect I am in the minority, but I find her the exact opposite. She is so utterly generic in her presentation that I feel she isn't overly prepared. It gives me the impression the information is prepared for her and she's just reading it. As far as her formally announced, I haven't heard anything but assumptions on this board. Hopefully, you're right and they (her and Jones) complement one another. Time will tell, and it ultimately doesn't matter what I think anyway.

I think she's a good sideline reporter. As an analyst, I can't recall her ever saying anything other than the obvious.

Plus she's kind of off putting with her "What the fans need to realize is" as she just goes into her own opinion on things.

I didn’t know DC and Mark Jones were friends before.
And I did think they worked well together on the air.
Also, when I went back on this thread and read that Mark Jones actually participated in this thread about Doug.,,,,,,,I was impressed. I do think Jones is a very good announcer, and Sacramento is fortunate to have him.
Back to the question of why Doug left the booth. I guess I’ll just have to get over having such a suspicious (slightly negative) mind. It just seems like people usually leave a job for a reason that may not be obvious at first. Maybe he just wants to coach, and make the Kings better. The video posted earlier in this thread looks like he’s serious about coaching.
