What leverage does Buddy have? I dont know who this guy is but more than anything I hope he has some brass balls to tell whiny overpaid players to $##U and stay in his lane and backup James Jackson like the 6th man that he is. Also Dumars has a chip put some respect on his name.

We won't know anything about McNair until we see how he handles the Buddy/Bogi situation. It will say a lot about the direction he wants to take the team.
My guess:
will do whatever to keep Buddy for 3-pt shooting, If Luke wont do it he is gone, D'Antoni In
4 draft picks all 3-pt specialists
Bagley, Holmes,Len, Giles all out 3 pt Bigs In (Bertans FA, Bagley trade for 3 pt big)
Rockets 2.0 baby!

OMG I wake up in a sweat from my nightmare!

Rockets 2.0 is a scary thought. It all looks good on paper, but the Rockets couldn't get over the hump. In their best shot at a championship when playing the Warriors, their 3pt shot failed them. They died by it. This year, the Lakers beat them at their own game. Lakers are a huge team and have been dominating that way. Went small the last couple games and beat the Rockets that way too. At the end of the day, analytics gets you to a certain point, but players win games. The heart, the leadership, the chemistry of the team. I really hope McNair can strike a balance.

Y'all be here with a 15 year playoff drought literally not even winning 40 games and your concern is getting over the championship hump? I'd honestly settle for 5-6 years of second-round/WCF knockouts. I mean, the Rockets have pretty much matched or bested the success of the Kings glory team but you don't ever hear anybody saying that we shouldn't try to recapture what they had.

Not worried about winning a championship today. Worried about an inflexible thought process that limits a teams ceiling.

As far as getting to the playoffs every year, that's fine. But I'd argue the reason that the Kings haven't made the playoffs is because for 15 straight years it's been shooting for that 8th seed just to pat ourselves on the back. The goal is so low that it feels like it can be done quickly and easily. Just replace a piece here and there and we're in! Not that simple. Have to do it right. There are different ways to do it, but if all you care about is 40 wins, you're setting yourself up for failure, because what it takes to reach that goal fluctuates on a yearly basis. Gotta aim higher.

So yeah.... I'm thinking about more than just getting to the playoffs.

I’d be so happy if we finished above .500 at this point.

At this point, the "permission to interview" thread is not terribly relevant, and is probably siphoning off discussion from the McNair thread. I'm going to close this one in the hopes the traffic all filters over that-a-way.
