For what it's worth, Bagley played better than Holmes, who probably had his worse game as a King.
Holmes had a bad game but so did Bagley. Robinson abused Bagley and got a ton of off rebounds over him. The Bagley, Barnes, Farrell, Bogey, Ariza lineup was just bad all around. Any time the Knocks missed a shot they got an offensive rebound

Bad shots that happen to go in are still bad shots.
Exactly. Look, any shot that a Buddy Hield or Bogdan Bogdanovic takes is probably a better shot than most other options you would consider good or bad but it's just so unnecessary and dangerous to play that game when you don't have to. When spacing is an issue and driving lanes are cut off it's not like the Kings don't have tremendous options to counter it. They go to these options early in the game too. Bagley had some decent post looks in the first half. I mean, WTF? The Kings are a lower pace team that calls a ton of half court sets. They can't ignore any part of the floor in the half court as a result. They have to make the most out of 47 feet of court space they are giving themselves. Last year they were a 94 feet of space team, not this year as of yet.

I mean, I didn't say Bagley did great but there were a lot of things this team did schematically that put him in position to fail tonight and pretty much the entire team aside from Buddy had absolutely horrible individual nights.

It's more than that unfortunately, they did show up and showed up hard. I have to give credit to Mike Miller. He's a good coach from what I saw. All game he was constantly looking for an answer. If you look at the basis of his defensive attack early it was all based on stopping Bjelica and Holmes. That allowed Buddy and the guards to go all world on him. He probably looked at tape from some other Kings games and switched up his defense to pressure the pick and roll and help up around the middle paint in the free throw line area. He even ran some of Waltons Harden stopping defense against him. Kings continued to force it into the defense via the perimeter and the game was lost as soon as the Kings refused to look inside.
You’re giving their coach way too much credit.

The KINGS were coasting the 1st half and even in the 3rd until the last 3 minutes, thinking they could flip the switch and pour it on whenever they wanted. They stopped playing defense and gave a crap team confidence. And the KINGS aren’t a good enough team to flip any switches.

There’s really nothing more to it.

Buddy admitted it after the Chicago debacle and it was more of the same today.

he made 4 threes not 1. The assists would have been higher if players hit the open threes he created them.
Who cares, that's part of the game. Buddy scored 30 and that doesn't mean he didn't choke hard in the 4th and add to the pain that Bogi and co. inflicted.

I wasn't even trashing Bogdan by himself this time and you still feel the compelling need to come here and defend him and only him to the last breath for some godforsaken reason.

Much to Buddy's credit, it seems like he was fully intent on not letting a bad team beat us. Unfortunately for him, he started cooling off and some of those bad tempo shots started to roll out and on the other end Elfrid Payton was possessed by the spirit of John Starks and he got absolutely lit up for a stretch.

I defended WCS from over the top criticism in game threads as well all last season. Buddy too.

Well then that's an excuse because that game was totally different. Anyone watching the game could tell the impending slide would continue because it has before. There is no coincidence when the same defensive adjustments yield the same results more than once for the opposing team. Effort wise? Eh. The Kings got shook up for sure. I didn't see a lack of giving a crap I saw a team mired in uncertainty without them getting much help from the sideline. This never turned into a full on blow out and with the Kings being almost an entirely half court team this year adjusting too early is better than too late.

The comment I have is I’m far past tired of this team taking $#!/ teams lightly. It keeps happening and it needs to stop. 5-20 coming in is not my opinion. This Knicks team absolutely sucks.

The KINGS just effed around a majority of the game. No excuse for it.

They’re just intent on making sure they never get back to .500.

BS basketball. BS mentality.
I can't argue with this.

What happened is that the Kings started the game and played down to the level of the competition. They didn't get up for the game because it was the Knicks, and in spite of their first half, didn't show much effort. It's almost as if they were saying, "It's the Knicks, we can just coast through this one". The Knicks started hitting all their shots and the Kings had in in their minds that they would be able to come back because they always do, and they just didn't put in the defensive effort.....I really hate it when they play to the level of their competition. I really wish they would stop doing that!!!!

I agree with this. Our bench came in with safe leads and didn’t value their possessions. We got way too cute, either over passing or over dribbling if we couldn’t get the ball down low. Next time the 2nd string looks this lifeless, Walton has to be willing to put in Justin James and Giles.... or just say fk it we’re playing our starters 40+ mins

Seriously we lost this??? Good lord it sucks being a kings fan sometimes. Is there any ither team that has lost as many games as the kings after going up over 12 or 13 points in the 3rd?

There was some of that but again, the opposing team took the areas they were moving to off the ball, and with the ball away. Another team all but forced the Kings to play one on one and the Kings again matched it with the exact option the Knicks wanted. It would be nice if the Kings could lock down a team for 48 minutes but that's not realistic. Sometimes you have to say player A can get us points. If player A can't, you go to player B and so on. The only thing we can hope is that Fox will be the paint answer that more consistent down the stretch post up play could be. My question is when teams play off of him down the stretch and play off the pick and roll what happens?

Kings are averaging a best win and worst loss of the season per week. The mark of a team that plays to the level of their competition...which is the mark of a team that pisses me off.

The seed was planted early despite the leads. Kings were getting hammered on the offensive glass and weren’t trending to have a balanced team game they have been getting. They were getting outworked. Outside of Buddy, I didn’t think the team was playing well at any point in the game and for awhile it looked like they would get away with it because the Knicks can’t shoot. When Buddy leveled out, the Kings became extremely spotty while the Knicks continued to cash in on second chance and turnovers. They got 12 more possessions than the Kings and scored on the vast majority of them. Erasing the Kings +25 from three. Then they got the hot shooting streak that eluded them all game and it was all she wrote.

I'm not worried about this game. If anything, the Kings need to learn that just because the team has only won 5 games doesn't mean that you can just relax and play casually......In my opinions they will still win plus 40 games, especially considering they are only 3 below .500 right now and Fox will be coming back soon.....Not worried at all. The key is now they respond after this.....

Well Walton glued him to the bench for the whole 4th quarter so they should have won if he was so responsible for playing losing basketball
He was glued to his seat in the 4th because he was putrid when he was in there. He was a sieve on defense and had two freaking rebounds in 27 minutes. He was totally awol in this game. To give you an idea of how totally different he was in this game than in the game in NY, he had nine rebounds in 24 minutes of play in that game.

Should he be though? He was misused down the stretch and while I'm not a big +/- guy it's not like he wasn't a -8 tonight.
Yes he should be. Every king should be pissed. They lost to the mf Knicks. The 5-20, oops the now 6-20 Knicks. Every single kings player, coach and fan should be pissed
