Luka Doncic (pre and post-draft discussion thread)

A twitter handle that been in existence 2 months and has absolutely ZERO clout with NBA media or front offices. I get it people are desperate for any news on the draft. DraftGod they have no reputation to go on. Nothing like a good spam twitter site to get people amped up.

I have no idea yet whether they really have inside sources or are just making stuff up. But unless their account is just to troll before the draft, I dont get why you would put something like that out without having some real inside information. If their goal really is to compete with Woj/Shams, you put your reputation on the line with statements like that. Its easy falsifiable if the Kings pick Bagley. Thats why normally reporters never go that much into detail.
What reputation?. The twitter handle has been around for 2 months.

If you want to go with a smokescreen theory. If you want porter to drop. It makes sense to show more interest than any other team. Put it out there that if Medicals check out hevisvyour Guy. Then day after medicals say your drafting Luka. It may up the price of a trade. I think Dallas is the team we are marking

Let’s see do you have a couple hours. I don’t. Let’s see: Players are faster, more athletic, bigger, stronger, and the rules are radically different. Go do your NBA history homework. You don’t know what you’re talking about.
That doesn't make it a bad comparison.

What you're arguing is something different entirely.

You're arguing that Larry Bird would fail in today's NBA.

The guys I've seen bust for the Kings - Jimmer, Stauskas, McLemore - maybe Willie we'll see... is that they come to the League with the talent but not the heart. There's this certain grit and legit swagger and lack of fear that guys have who succeed in the league.

Guys like Bogi/Luka get the chance to prove they have that in the euro league. Whatever you say about Bogi - you can't say any moment will be too big for him. He's clutch. He won't cry if he gets an elbow in the face. He won't sulk if he's shooting bad that day.

So this is the battle-tested thing I am excited to get with Luka. I don't know about his athleticism but I know he will not shrink and cower and sulk - that the game won't be too big for him. We will have 4 guys who legit "want the shot" when the chips are down (Bogi, Luka, Buddy, De'Aaron).

The 1 and done (or in Porter's case zero and done) college stars don't get enough of a chance to prove this - it's a crap shoot whether they will have the mental makeup to succeed.

To find that mental makeup in a super skilled 19 year old with a good body ... exciting.

Wow that's pretty aggressive for someone asking a simple question. Funkykingston has been here for awhile and I'm sure plenty here thinks he knows what he's talking about.

20/9/3 in game 3 of finals for Madrid win (2:1 in series)

He created much more but just teammmates missing wide open shots(overall watching full game would benifit him even more than highlights).

Just phenomenal game.Madrid one game away from winning the league title and Luka one game closer to another MVP.

That’s awesome! At the end of the day what does that mean in the NBA landscape? That he played great in Europe.

Would you bet your mortgage that it translates to the NBA?

I think it's a bad comparison too. Who knows what Larry Bird would be in today's NBA? That's an argument unto it's own. Would Bill Russell be great today? Or would Rudy Gobert be just as good as Russell if he played back then? I don't know and I don't care but they're legit questions. I'm looking for a guy that compares favorably to someone who's had success recently in the league. All I can come up with is Hayward. No one else with that size/athleticism combo really compares as far as all star level talent. So Luka will have to break the mold to become a star. Maybe he can do it but the odds are against him.
