Michael Porter Jr

I’m not sure the time is now to get pissed at the team. They haven’t done anything at this point. If when this is all said and done, you’re most mad because you couldn’t figure out who they really wanted to take prior to the draft, isn’t that a good thing?
If Porter has been mis-direction all along, then I’m proud of Vlade. If it is legit, then Vlade has played his poker hand like a 3 year old.

I don't care how they spin it. This is not good!

Michael developed some inflammation that wrapped around his nerve and caused massive spasms
If he can't handle the rigors of pre-draft preparation, how is he going to handle training camp, pre-season, 82 games (including some killer road trips) and maybe even the playoffs? No matter what they say at this point, I would not take the chance.

Well I stuck by him longer than most. It will have to do. When Howdy Doody & lil Ham started in... I have gotten really discouraged. I’ll take a 91% on my Vlade loyalty score.

If he takes non-Porter... I will regret any hostilities I directed Vlade’s way.
Fair enough I suppose. I just hate to see someone buy into what Howdy and Ham are selling. :(

After this latest injury news on Porter perhaps (and hopefully) the Kings opinion on Porter has soured but I don't think there is any question there was serious interest from the Kings on MPJ. Grant and Doug have made that obvious.

Grant Napear and Doug have spent way more air time talking about Porter than any of the other prospects to the point it's flat out weird unless there is something real behind it. Considering none of the mock drafts have had Porter in the Top-3 why would you spend so much time talking about Porter and less time talking about Ayton, Donic, and Bagley (the consensus Top-3)? Almost every guest they have on regarding the draft, Michael Porter Jr. is the first player they ask about. Nothing wrong with that but it doesn't fit the general national consensus,

There is precedence here from the 2017 Draft as well. Grant talked a ton about Fox, Jackson, and Frank Mason. Sure enough they draft those 3 guys. Now Fox is easy because he was projected to go where the Kings were selecting and a large percentage of the fan base were clamoring for him. However why was Grant constantly talking about Jackson (and asking guests about him) when they had the 10th Pick and most draft boards had him in the middle of the first round. Why was he constantly bringing up Frank Mason and asking guests about Frank when normally you don't spend much time with guests on second round picks because it's so wide open.

Bottom line is Grant does have some insider information (which is fine) and has often been the case in the past he does use his radio show to float ideas and/or agendas. I'm not a fan of drafting Porter so hopefully this latest injury news puts him out of the conversation for the Kings.

My two cents is I feel MPJ is a complete smoke screen to devalue Doncic. We need the suns to pick Ayton and not Doncic. Doncic fits perfectly in how Vlade wants basketball to be played in Sacramento.
This is absolutely wishful thinking. Ayton is going #1 and anyone that trades up to #1 is trading only for Ayton. The only reason to feign interest in a player at #2 is to get another team to trade for your pick to get that same player. So unless #2 is on the market, no reason for smoke screens this year. Now everything is for sale at the right price but either way, if we're talking about Porter at #2 it's either because we really want him or we think someone else does enough that they might trade for our second pick. Interesting either way.

I still think it’s fake. Chicago and porters agent came up with this plan so teams like us will back off. Chicago wants him and he wants Chicago. Makes sense to come up with this to keep him pushed down in draft

Makes Zero sense for Sac to fly out a second time to see Porter, unless their is real interest. They have already done their due diligence seeing him last week. If Sac is there a the workout tomorrow, you can bet their considering him.

He was definitely all over Frank Mason last year. I don't remember Jackson so much but sure you're right

Not that you would be bias or anything. Completely objective, right? I do agree with your comparisons to Gerald Green, however.
I’m just calling it how I see I’m personally a Rockets fan. Michael Porter Jr has always made it look easy. I remember the first time I seen him he was an 8th grader his shot was so pure. The elite shooting will carry on to the NBA.

I don’t care for Howdy Doody or Lil Ham, they both rub me the wrong way. However, they probably do have some access to inside information, whether accurate or smoke is to be seen. I suspect if Porter is the choice, that much like Giles this previous season, Porter won’t see the court except in practice. He may spend the whole season rehabbing.

Backs are a whole different beast from knee injuries though.

We're talking about a guy who was in so much pain that he was physically incapable of getting out of bed for a workout meant to show how all his health problems were a thing of the past.

Unless they know they’re getting a LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Tim Duncan sure fire, can’t miss player, spending the #2 pick on a player that needs to spend a season rehabbing is lunacy. Especially when there are equal or better players in this draft.

While Porter could possibly develop into a star player and put the injury bug behind him, he’s done nothing to this point in time to make anyone believe he’s a can’t miss talent that a team should waste an entire season on.

Draft Luka, Bagley or Bamba and call it a day.

Grant talked a TON about a lot of players, not just Fox, Jackson and Frank Mason. You're making a selective memory that is true only because hindsight is 20/20.

Only if your physical condition is good enough to keep you on the court. It was back problems that finally did Peja in. There is, according to a medical website I quoted a day or two ago, about a 10% chance of future problems related to the microdiscectomy. You'd think he'd be trying his best to prove he's fit. Instead, he postpones a workout because he's so sore he cannot get out of bed?

A rehabbing Giles, once touted to be among the very best in the draft, dropped to #20. Big difference between how we acquired him and burning the #2 pick on Porter IMHO.

A little tidbit about Bartelstein from the Priority Sports website:

Priority Sports & Entertainment was founded in 1985, and in the 30+ years the agency has been in business, CEO Mark Bartelstein has earned a reputation for being innovative and forward thinking in his approach to representing professional athletes
