Who do we draft?

It's like the guys who keep trying the lotto machine and get excited about a particular favorable result....who the **** cares? It doesn't mean jack ****. Just wait until the draft order is known, then you can start having a more serious and meaningful conversation. Makes no sense to me.

We have a pretty good idea of where our own pick will be at #8-9. New Orleans will be #10-11 (hopefully), so the probability (like 94+% ) that we stay in those positions are pretty high, so I think it is fair game to have healthy discussion of who we may draft is warranted.
If we jump up in the lottery, then all the players we dreamed of drafting, but had no shot at #8, may become a real possibility, with more discussion.

Obviously everyone who has posted here has interest in where the Kings might pick and which player/players might end up on the roster. I bet you the Kings scouting guys and Front Office are burning the midnight oil watching film on all the prospects.
I'm sure they are. They are also looking into trades, picking higher and lower should the opportunity arise, etc. I think it's just funny that there are 32 pages of posts on who we will pick at spots 8 and 10 (or thereabouts), when we don't even know if we will be picking there, if we will even have any picks (I know, very remote chance), whether we will jump into the lottery and be getting Philly's pick instead, whether Vlade decides to make some trades and go up or down in the draft, etc.
Are you (royal you, not you "King Baller") loking at the most possible outcome? Yes. Is it worth getting all riled up over? No. Not at this point. There could be injuries, guys getting arrested for stupid stuff, draft position changes based on trades or lottery results, or numerous other things that can happen between now and the draft that makes the preceding 32 pages worthless.
I mean, I could see someone ranking the players to be drafted based on talent (for both rounds), because that is good for wherever we end up drafting and can easily be adjusted right before the draft to account for late developments (injuries, arrests, etc.). People are hyper-focusing on an outcome that may not be there in a few weeks!

As senseless or premature as that may seem to some, I would say I would gladly exchange being excited watching the Kings in the playoffs but that hasn't happened for eleven years or hardly at all since 1985.

But who are we picking at 8 and 10. Right now it is the only show in town.
Some questions hat have probably been answered somewhere in the 904 posts before this one.
If our no. 8 pick is drawn in the lottery then PHI will switch with us and we will get theirs. If our no.10 pick gets drawn in the lottery then do we get the 1-3 slot? Does that mean that we can get the following pick: no.s 1,2,3,5,6,8,9,10,11. Is this approx. correct?

Unfortunately, no. The Kings own their own pick, subject to the Philly swap, and the Pelicans pick, subject to top-3 protection. So, if the Pelicans jump from 10 to the top 3, they keep the pick (and the Kings get another shot next season, with only top-1 protection). Barring trade, there is no way for the Kings to end up with the top pick in this draft.

Their video format and organization is different than their previous years. I think their video hits the high notes. They question his length and reach quite a bit. His arms do look a bit short, but the combine should give us official measurements.

Pretty fair assessment! All season long his biggest weakness has been getting into foul trouble, and from that video, you can see why. The good thing is that most of his weaknesses are correctable, and also to his credit, he improved in those areas as the season went on. Always a good sign. His release on his jumpshot is a bit low, and a bit slow. So he needs to do some work there. His handles are just fair at this point. Centers aren't expected to have great handles, but those that do separate themselves from the rest of the pack.
He only got to play 17 minutes a game, and one wonders how much more he might have developed had he gotten more burn. That aside, I think he has a high floor, and a fairly high ceiling as well. He has a good feel for the game, and good touch on the ball. It wouldn't take much tweaking to get him on the floor in the NBA. In a couple of years, with 15 more pounds of muscle, you might have yourself something. I like the kid. He plays with attitude. He just needs to hone his body and skill set to match.

Man, I flat out want this kid. Watched some more tape on him to confirm what I'm seeing and I just think there's tremendous 2-way upside here. Even if his length/reach aren't where we want, his timing on contesting shots is so good that it almost doesn't matter to me. As long as it's not below average, I'm good.
And our bigs are missing the all-around type talent that Collins is. Papa is the lane clogger/ pure C. Skal is the stretch 4/offensive upside. WCS is the defensive versatility guy. You can pair all 3 with Collins and really exploit certain match-ups based on what we need at the time.

If the premise of this draft is to get the chance at an "Star" then a few names that we also need to talk about at #10 are Patton, Hartenstein, and even Giles. They are all big guys with huge question marks (feel for the game, attitude, health..) but also tremendous upside because of their physical tools and raw skills.
It's been trending that way for a while. Kids going top ten aren't seeing anything but downside to attending the combine. I'm not seeing a whole lot of solid info on this, but usually these guys will show up for interviews, sometimes will do the measurements but usually not the athletic testing. They definitely aren't playing 5-on-5, but the top prospects haven't for a long time.
Yup, smart agents telling VERY young guys with top rating that they have nothing to GAIN from going and could drop a slot or more by revealing weakness. I suspect this will continue and probably even get wore until GMs take a stand and refuse to draft these guys in the top 10 (Good luck with that!). At some point the NBA and the NCAA need to have a long talks about policy changes that will save BOTH leagues from this push toward one and done flight into the NBA.
We may end up having to face a similar decision this year, particularly if we land at #8/#9. I'd guess that many of the expected top ten are going to feel like they should be top five, and refuse to work out 8/9 for fear that it would make it look like a sign of weakness. I would actually be surprised if, out of the group of Fultz/Ball/Jackson/Tatum/Fox/Isaac/Monk/Markkanen/Smith we get more than say two to actually come work out in Sacramento. Ntilikina probably does come work out, and we probably won't have much trouble getting in guys trying to crack the top ten like Allen and Collins. Just a guess.
