Matt Barnes just basically shut down a stupid reporter who sounded suspiciously like James Ham.

Question: Is there any rhyme or reason how you guys win and lose? It seems like every night you just have no idea...

Barnes (Interrupting): Next question.
A legit question. Just because he doesn't want to answer it doesn't go awaY

If the NBA just had the NCAA's March Madness single elimination playoff system we'd be that impossible to predict darkhorse team that might bust half the country's brackets, or might do nothing at all.
Only because they overlook us. If warriors were ready at start of the game it would be different

ESPN had about two minutes of highlights of this game and it was literally nothing but Curry/Warriors...not a single Kings basket. WTF!?
That's not surprising......15 years ago in the same matchup, it would've mirror opposite. When I see Warriors jerseys in Hawaii these days, its clear the fair-weather rocket has launched. Some Kings fans have a deep loathing for them I've noticed, but I confess I have a soft-spot. Nonetheless I usually love upsets if all things neutral.

This team is just emotionally draining. After the suns game, I was dreading watching this. We had no right to even keep it close on the second night of a back to back and we went and pulled out the win.

On a separate note, I think this game may have recruited an extra Kings fan. My girlfriend has kind of supported the Kings passively since I started watching but this game, she was well into it. Practically hiding behind the sofa at the end of regulation and bouncing off the walls when Greene missed that last shot. It was a lot of fun.

Honestly the team needs to hire a hypnotherapist for the players. Playing to the opponents level is purely a mental thing. If the players can be taught/convinced that every game is an important one and have the mindset of wanting to destroy every opponent, it would do wonders for the team.

Maybe the season is just too long. After sleep walking through the Phoenix game, the Kings played with tremendous intensity like it was a play off game. I can't remember seeing this many blocks in one game from both sides. The Team gets an A on Defense. That is how the Kings won. They played defense the whole time against a really skilled team. They rebounded pretty well except for a few defensive lapses when everyone was tired.

A game like this can turn anyone into a Kings fan. Looking at the recent losses, they are all close. The Kings compete every night. Coach J has them playing hard on defense. Defending the 3 point line is the Achilles Heel. But we just beat Golden State, got their coach ejected, and got those stupid smirks off the faces of a team that has beaten us 15 times straight.

Cousins has few things to work on, but he plays as hard as anyone in the League. I love his humility in victory. He is a great winner, just not a good loser. In the grand scheme of things that is A-okay. This was WCS' coming out party. Collison played great. Guys like Tolliver and Afflalo and Barnes made a big difference on defense. The Kings were easy to like last night.

James Ham is a moron who knows next to nothing about basketball yet somehow works for the team.
I agree with the first part. Actually, I have stronger words to use but this is a "family" site. I don't know or care about the rest of your sentence.

Observations:
  • Who was that guy impersonating Kevin Durant last night?
  • The best part (besides us winning) was when Kerr went crazy and was ready to go full-blown assault mode and got dragged away like a mental patient in a straight jacket and the camera panned to Joerger and he had a self-satisfied smirk on his face....it was awesome! The first time I have actually found Joerger likable this season. :D
  • Say you want a Boogie having a temper issues but Kerr is worse. He's the most profane unhinged head coach I have ever seen. There was a coach on Jazz back in the day who use to lose it, but this guy is worse. Kerr has mental problems. He's a self-entitled smug little jerk who road MJ's coattails and that's all there is to say about that! :)
  • Why was Boogie saying "zero" over and over in crunch time with hand signal? I assume he meant he got zero calls?
  • The grade giver who gave A to Barnes is a full-fledged member of the Matt Barnes Fan Club with a membership 1 or 2 in Kings Nation if you want to include VF21. Cancel your membership VF21! :p Barnes was a C+. He's terrible on defense. He made a lucky unguarded three. He gets rebounds by hanging around the key. He does have a knack for sneaking in there but that's hardly enough to elevate to A status or make-up for his glaring deficiencies of trying to stay in front of his man or score efficiently (11 points on 10 shots). The guy cannot move or elevate. He's playing on guts and guile and dirty tricks and miracle prayers. He's a farce and that's all there is to say about that! :)
  • I have been waiting for Willie to show an ability to create offense and his 15 foot pops (2X) and drive to middle spin move and left hand finish are welcome signs reminiscent of what he showed towards the end of last season. Willie has developed excellent timing and connection with Lawson maybe better than what he had with Rondo!
  • Nice to see Collison swish one in the crunch time. He's had an issue with making shots when it counts.
  • Is it just me or does Affalo have a hard time moving? He makes Barnes look like a gazelle! He makes weekend YMCA warriors everywhere look like Aaron Affalo! Affalo was 0-3 FGs 2 rebounds and 1 assist and here's the kicker, our coach gave him 36 minutes! Wow, what a miracle we won the game and what an excruciating exercise in futility to watch this washed up bum run up and down the court....my eyes my eyes! :)
  • Shot over the bow fired from Sactown to the Bay last night, see you overrated punks in the first round.

Wait, people don't like Hamm? I think he's great, he might not be the brightest basketball mind in the world but that's not his job. He gets the fans pretty accurate fair info without alienating the players. That's a pretty good skill.

Kevin Durant had the lowest scoring game of his career when playing at least 40 minutes.

But I've been in Joerger/Barnes' fan club the whole year - never wavered. So there are 3 of us at least.

Thing I love about Barnes I also used to love about Doug: when he does something boneheaded, he shakes it off and goes hard to the next play. Now Matt does more boneheaded things than I'd like, but he never sulks, never drops off. I'll always love a baller like that.

Guts and guile and dirty tricks and miracle prayers... I'm in.

I think someone mentioned it in the [Game] thread last night: the perfect roleplayer for this team would have been c. 2010-11 Matt Barnes. Unfortunately, we've got the spirit-is-willing-but-flesh-is-weak version.

Looking at some of the highlights, and how Cousins manages to muscle some of those layups in... it makes you realize that, if Cousins got James Harden's calls, he'd average forty points a game.
40 points and all too many losses. Now if he got Harden's calls and averaged 12 assists then this success would result in a helluva lot more wins. Just sayin'.

Second of All, it'd help if he had guys that he could count on to hit shots more than two games in a row.
But, honestly, if Cousins got James Harden calls, it would lead to more wins, if only by virtue of forcing the other teams' good players to the bench with foul trouble.

In regards to Cousins holding up the zero and saying over over and over. It had nothing to do with clock. I have seen several people say that, Grant even said that. Cousins was speaking to fouls. Warriors had 0 fouls called on them in the 4th last night. I have never seen that happen. We shouldn't have won. The league has to stop this BS. 0 fouls

Tolliver said it a few weeks ago in a post game interview, the team is playing for each other, and in games like this, the mindset can overcome a severe lack of talent. Crazy there are people on here who are actually negative towards Joerger. He's brought a winning mindset to the team. There's just not enough talent there to always pull it off.

I found this juxtaposition amusing, given that the major reason Durant didn't get much done last night was Barnes.

You'll note that of six graders, three gave an A, two gave an A-, and one gave a B+. So I guess that's six members of the Matt Barnes Fan Club, apparently including myself. Still, I'm pretty sure I've given Barnes at least 5 Fs this year and I'll bet the others have been close. But sure, we're the ones who have no objectivity about Barnes.

Not enough talent, yes -Barnes, McClemore, and Afflalo in that order are the most inconsistent players I think. Barnes probably leads the dumb-play category for the team (Cousins is up there on this too), but Barnes likely is the best rebounder besides Cousins, which is no small part of why he plays good chunks of time. Tolliver has taken over as bench stalwart. Having McClemore up his shooting/scoring is a big deal but its only 2 games. Still this is his chance, and he may realize it which is good - the pressure is on. He logged 35 and 29 min in the last 2 games.

Great game and team win. However, their totally predictable half court offense late in game and overtime against one of the best defensive teams in NBA was tough to watch. It worked, sort of as they won, but not good practice in long run as DMC did have 7 TO's and another "T". The open shots not taken was tough also. Good team win.
I don't know if it's Collison or the coaching staff. I think it's Collison. He cannot beat anybody off the dribble when they're set and really playing defense against him. The only time he gets to the rim is on fast breaks and when the defense falls asleep. It's tough because Lawson can obviously get just about wherever he wants but he would have been roasted by Curry on the other end of the court and you can't have him or Collison playing together and matched up on Klay Thompson.

I'm glad the "give it to Cousins and let him figure it out" plan worked last night but it's not a long term winning formula. It just goes to show how talented the man is because we're basically telling the opposing team exactly what we're going to run for the last few minutes of every game.

Its where having Rudy Gay healthy comes into play. Or given that Rudy probably never will suit up for the Kings again as fully healthy/effective Rudy Gay, its where the need for a true #2 (and if you wanted to be a top team even a truer #3 too) comes into play. Without Gay teams are completely loading up on Cousins. He's passing up a storm, but along with that has come a surge in TOs, and late in the game he's the only guy we have who can create in the face of a determined defense. So he is having to go 1 on team right into the teeth of it. One player, just one other high level creative scorer would relieve so much of the pressure for us and help Cuz's efficiency too. But we lost the only guy we had who could pretend to that role, and he was always a dubious pleasure anyway. Going forward it's got to be an absolute quest to find another one.

If only the Kings had players hitting open shots like the Rockets do...

You know, I wasn't going to say anything, because it is just awesome to watch our team win and I figured all of our forum members would be cool with this whether your a stick to the process guy or a guy who wants to blow it up and make changes.

But the more I look at all the responses or actually lack of postings by a certain group, I think there is that small group that only posts after a loss. It's true. I'm not going to name names but I'm sure people can figure it out....it's a very small group. They would rather post and pile on to keep on with their narrative because they are upset that Karl is gone or that they don't really like Cousins or just whatever.

See, if said group would come on here and enjoy the win it would just make sense whatever side of the arguments you are on. I mean, I was critical of Karl but when they won, that was more important to me than to continue to bash Karl. You still don't have to like the process but when we win like that over GS or Barnes plays well or Cuz gets another tech but we win.....just seems like a Kings fan would be happy.........rant over.

I'm not happy with the "process" because we make two steps back for every step forward. Yes the GS game was great unfortunately it's only 1 game and is offset many several home Ls. So excuse me if I am not happy with that. Perhaps you should raise your standards of excellence
