Lakers have 55MM in cap room, they will match any offer on Clarkson, Fournier is getting matched as well. There is no reason to extend an offer sheet. I think I have convinced myself of these 3 being the best options for 2 guard,

1. Sign and trade Koufos for Lee 3yrs/42MM
2. Eric Bledsoe 1 YR/18MM, 16MM team option year 2 (giving us the option to slide Bogdan in at the 2 next year)
3. Bazemore 4/74MM

4. Crabbe 3/45. I think Blazers match unless they put money into bigs.
What is the offer to Clarkson is that backended type of deal with which Houston got Asik out of Chicago and Lin out of New York. That sort of thing scares the crap out of teams because it give them so much room inflexibility in the last year of the deal

I really like Clarkson. He's the type of risk I don't mind taking. Can play either guard position, but better as a PG. Really needs to improve on defense though. I also really question his bball iq..... it's kind of suspect....... would you say it was a problem at Mizzou? He's also said a lot of dumb things off the court... doesn't seem like the brightest guy.
Ya know, I can't say for sure that his BB IQ is high, but it never stood out as being low either. He played for a college coach at that time who was an average X's & O's guy, so it was always a matter of his athletic ability and drive overcoming the mediocrity around him. From talking to him, he always struck me as humble and respectful, and he had to tune out a lot of coach-generated distractions during the time he played here.

The big thing I'd say is that he's coachable, which is an excellent quality to pair with youth and proven athleticism. I loved the way he played against us and think his upside is better than BMac's for sure.

At this point I wish we could see how McLemore has improved or what he's working on. There aren't that many great options to replace him and I hope he doesn't finally put out all together right as we deal him away.

I don't think the Kings should be trading McLemore for the sake of trading him if all you get in return is a Waiters type of player. Same applies for dealing Rudy, don't just give him away for something you think ought to be better, because that might not always be the case.

I'm not sure we can give away Rudy now if we wanted to.

You trade a player (Koufos) for a RFA not an UFA.

I'm still hoping the Kings can pry Bledsoe from Phoenix in a 3 or 4 team deal using Gay, Koufos and possibly McLemore and then sign Crabbe, Hill, Anderson and Curry.

It's going to be an overpay for Crabbe and Anderson and a gamble on Hill and Curry that could go either way but:

Anderson at $16 million
Crabbe at $15 million
Hill at $8 million
Curry for $5 million

would be $43 million which is room they'd have if Gay, Koufos & McLemore went out and Bledsoe came back. I know people don't think Ben has a ton of value but really he put up similar stats to Crabbe and next season he'll be a bargain even if he doesn't improve, which - in a different offense under a different coach - I think he will.

Cousins/Papagiannis/Moreland or Gudaitis (or Acy w/ Room Exception and Skal is the 3rd string C)
Cauley-Stein/Anderson/Labissiere
Casspi/Hill/Butler
Crabbe/Curry/Richardson
Bledsoe/Collison/Curry

and one more SG signed for the minimum for depth

If the Kings don't trade Rudy then I think you the Kings might be smart to take the same strategy but spend on less expensive guys.

$11 million to Teletovic
$5-6 million to E'Twaun Moore
$7-8 million to Solomon Hill
$5 million to Curry

Then maybe you keep Koufos (at least for now) for depth and to ease Papagiannis' transition and trade McLemore for PG help, say to the Jazz for Burke.

Cousins/Koufos/Papagiannis/
Cauley-Stein/Teletovic/Labissiere
Gay/Casspi/Butler
Hill/Moore/Richardson
Collison/Curry/Burke
If we can get Crabbe and Anderson that'd be awesome. Then trade Koufos for Beverly...BOOM its on like Donkey Kong

I like Beverly but I think he really needs a ball handling/playmaking SG next to him and that's not Crabbe. Or McLemore for that matter.

If the Kings traded Gay for Tyreke and signed Solomon Hill instead of Crabbe they'd have money to sign Curry and then a trade of Koufos for Beverly makes sense.

Cousins/Papagiannis/Moreland or Gudaitis
Cauley-Stein/Anderson/Labissiere
Casspi/Hill/Butler
Evans/McLemore/Richardson
Collison/Curry/Beverly

Lots of shooting, good defense, young guys to groom, a starting PG that works with Tyreke & Cousins and backup PGs that give the option of shooting or defense and some positional versatility. Not bad and probably pretty doable.

Of course it's also swapping major players from another team with one of the best young bigs in the league who also failed to make the playoffs

Lots of possibilities this offseason. I just hope I'm not horribly disappointed when it's done.
