Sources say San Antonio has agreed to a trade a future second-round pick to Sacramento for Ray McCallum to replace Cory Joseph

A good guy - I always liked Ray. Hope he has a great career with the Spurs.
A move we likely needed to make.

But I guarantee you he will be a starting/6th man pg in three seasons. Spurs don't eff around unless they know who they are getting with these moves.

Also, something tells me that Vlade Divac is going to be insanely good at drafting second round picks. Just totally a gut feeling.

Also maybe Stockton won Karl over as the deep bench project PG? Better shooter and better feel for the game than Ray, Ray obviously physically more imposing than David.

To whatever extent that may be true, I think that fans of all teams should be skeptical whenever San Antonio is willing to trade for one of your guys.
Yup. Always a factor.

This is a good move for Ray, because he'll get more PT than he would have in Sac, but I'm not sure that we come out too well here at all. Any future SA second rounder is bound to be in the high 50s, we don't get much appreciable cap space (because Ray's min contract has to be replaced with a roster charge), and we gave the Spurs a player that obviously they like better than anybody they think they can sign for the minimum.

Ray was most likely out of here after this year...but unless we've got our eye on Miller for that min-contract third string PG, I'm not sure why we did this.

Anyway, thanks Ray! It was great to have you on the team for two years, and best of luck in San Antonio!

More likely Andre Miller.

If we're truly clearing room for an FA would not be surprised to see Stockton gone too.

P.S. side note however: Ray was Pete's project. Knew his dad. Once Pete went, so did Ray's protection.

For some reason I thought he was a Malone guy, either way it seemed his time may be limited. How much is Miller going to cost to play 3rd fiddle? And can we make one or two other more impactful signings first?

He should be the vet minimum considering he will probably be a coach in training on most nights.
I'm inclined to believe this may be the case but he may have value for another team, so is he just that loyal to Karl? It does make the most sense if he's looking towards coaching in his post playing career.

As you all know, I have a lot of faith in RayMac's game. Glad that he gets another opportunity at SAS; hopefully, he'll gain knowledge from TP9 and develops as a point guard. I'll be watching him throughout his career.

because he's not that talented, lol. SMH at certain fans over evaluating their players.
Well he's a talented player for 3rd pg coming off the bench. He has high BQ, he can score, he can defend well for 3rd pg. I think he can be as good as Isaiah Thomas if he gets some playing time if not at least 2nd pg coming off the bench. Watch him play well in Spurs. Anyways, What the point of trading cheap and young 3rd pg when you will eventually need to get 3rd pg.

Also, Rondo's contract is just a year long. We will eventually need to get pg after next year.
Ray can contribute as 2nd pg or we can trade him to get other pg.

Thanks Ray, you're a stand-up guy, and played well in DC's injury!

I like Stockton a lot. I really think he is the 3rd PG option for this team.

Ray was never really impressive during his time here, I never thought he could be anything more than solid. Which dont get me wrong is fine, its just that i would rather have Stockton as my 3rd string pg over Ray. Stockton showed in his very limited minutes that he can run a team better, make better passes, and has maybe more potential.

I wish him well in S.A. though, we all know its a good situation for him and hopefully he will do better.

As soon as we traded him, he became a top-10 pg, according to the national media...

Anyways, good luck Ray, you have a great chance with the Spurs.

Good luck Ray!

We are really going all in on vets in an attempt to win. We have shipped out or let all of our young ones go (Nik, D-Will, now Ray), only Ben remains and even he was on the hot seat. The question remains though, why did we do this? It certainly wasn't to get a 2nd round pick from the Spurs. Who is going to come on board now?

I think people are on the money with Miller, he's a steady hand should something go wrong with Rondo, which is likely on recent form.

Ray was a good guy and an ok player. Can't argue w the trade. Hopefully we will get decent talent w the cap space. Wish Ray luck tho.

If Miller is being resigned at the vet minimum then Ray would've been the 4th PG on the roster and only ever played due to injury to DC, Rondo and/or Dre.

I have to imagine this was a way to open up a bit more salary for an impending signing. Likely Josh Smith but I'd still rather see something like Dorell Wright and a veteran PF. My big hope was for Scola but he just signed with Toronto I believe.

Good luck Ray! You are going to be in the Playoffs most likely so you have nothing to hang your head about. Pop, TD, TP, LMA, D. West, Manu, Diaw, Kawhi, Mills.......soak it up:)

I don't know about that but, again, the Spurs don't give up picks for guys who can't play.
I agree. I would have liked to keep him, I think he's going to be good but like it's been pointed out before, we're trying to win now. I love that we're sending him to SA though, look forward to seeing him in the finals next year haha.
