Koufos to the Kings!

Come on man....Moreland? He's a D-League guy type who looked good in summer league. That's a huge difference from a proven guy who's played on some really good NBA teams. I feel like Moreland is one of those Henry Turner type players. We all think he would be an All-Star if given a chance but it's highly unlikely.
This is a GREAT signing.
When I said we don't need a big man, I was referring to it AFTER the signing of Kosta. We talk about bringing in a Reggie Evans, Quincy Acy type of player to fill in the 4th big slot when we have a shot blocker just waiting to get an opportunity. Plus he is young and you and I don't even know how good he can be, there are players that have made a nice contribution to their respective teams that played in the D-league. Don't write Moreland off so soon. He needs some real NBA time and I hope Karl gives it to him.

I just don't know what to say right now. It may be because I've been brewing since the morning, but probably not.

This off-season gives me a happy.
I guess having a guy that worked for a front office in Europe basketball and gaining advice from the right people makes it fun all of a sudden.

This is starting to look like something very special:) Reminds me of one of my old favorite movies "The Magnificent Seven". In the beginning Yul Brynner and Steve McQueen go around choosing the Seven. Which is what Vlade has done here.

Vlade, very well done sir!

This is nice, reminds of the short time we had Sam Dalembert and we were dominating teams inside. This group is actually better in my view. Vlade really Killin it his first off season.

Can they defend us on the other end?

Unfortunately they just might be able to. With that lineup they'll have to figure out how to attack the zone defenses they'll be seeing every night. If I were coaching against the Kings I'm playing off of Rondo and the big next to Cousins, if there is one, and daring them to shoot.

Great movie! Doesn't get much better than Yul Brynnar and Steve McQueen trying to upstage each other. :)

Can this lineup defend small-ball stretch 4's? We have WCS, so that's good. I'm not sure if Koufos and Cousins can, but I'm very hopeful that Moreland can. That, or we should acquire a defender for those stretch 4s.
I like Casspi as much as any but wouldn't it be smarter of us to sign a player like Dorell Wright? I guess I could've done a little research but my memory tells me he's a better defender and 3 point shooter than Casspi. Am I wrong?

I think so. 5.8 million is basically a mid-level deal. It depends how desperate the teams with cap space remaining get. And of course whether Josh wants to be here or not.

I'm not entirely sure he's a good fit for us -- I do like his weak-side defense, and he's one of the most creative passing PFs in the game. He'd have to drastically cut back on his shots though. If he never attempts a three all season that'd be a good thing. If he scores mostly in the post that would be a good thing too. Will he be willing to accept that "Andre Igoudala" secret weapon off the bench role that served the Warriors so well this year? If so, I can see him being an asset rather than a distraction. Bench wise -- we currently have a great backup PG, we have a designated shooter, Omri is kindof a jack of all trades wing, and Koufos (if he doesn't start) is a great interior presence when Cousins comes out of the game. Adding Josh Smith (if he curtails his bad habits and plays for the team) could give us one of the deepest rosters in the league. It pushes Moreland into the 5th big role where he belongs until he gets a little more experience.
We're better off spending that on a perimeter defender at the 2/3 position.

Excellent signing. I'm so happy!

I am so glad Wes Matthews and Monte Ellis turned down our offer!

How much do kings have left in cap space after koufos?

Evans is a good team guy who has a great relationship with Boogie. He is the one who set that tech goal with him last season. I personally wouldn't mind seeing him back just for the positive influence he seems to provide and it is always nice to have a tough guy at the end of the bench, in case of injury

Also Evans is the type of player that's always ready and whether he's playing two minutes or twenty minutes he's dominating the boards and going after loose balls. His impact isn't determined by minutes. He's a great fourth or fifth big type.

Help me here. How is Koufos a better player then JT? I believe he is, but I would love to hear someone articulate the upgrade. The highlight video shows similarities.

Casspi is a much better fit with us. No question in my mind...I take Omri

This excerpt from the article in the Welcome Kosta.. thread says it all. He's an excellent defender, doesn't need shots, and does the dirty unsung work.

"Kosta posted an astounding 94.8 rating. In case you were wondering, Golden State’s Andrew Bogut(5th) recorded a 95.2 rating. For additional comparisons, defensive-minded centers such as Roy Hibbert, Al Horford, and Dwight Howard earned defensive ratings of 101.1, 101.0, and 97.0, respectively. Marc Gasol comes in at 101.9. The job Koufos has been doing this season at stopping opponents from scoring is indeed incredible."

Fantastic offseason so far. Yet another great signing.

We need another genuine PF on the roster that can play significant minutes unless we are supremely confident that WCS can be a 30mpg player on a winning team straight away, and/or DMC and KK can play together for long stretches. I know we are looking of playing Rudy at PF for longer periods but I am not a huge fan of that.

A couple of minor additions are still needed (a PF who can play meaningful minutes, a wing defender and re-signing Casspi)

I'll get it started. Higher in game IQ and a "tougher" attitude. No whining, just competes at all times
Not to mention he's a legit center. JT was in a rough spot as a backup center he's not super long nor very strong. JT did well for playing out of position at times I guess but he was about as stopgap as you can get as a center.

We still also need a perimeter defender. Harden and Clay were particularly fond of playing us last year. I see only limited roster changes thus far to help that. (No Sauce being the biggest change)

I've pushed for Wright for a couple off seasons now but of all the Kings bench players Omri was the one guy I wanted back. Great for chemistry, fantastic hustle and a really nice fit in Karl's offense.

Yeah MORELAND! Just give him a chance to show what he can do. Or is that too big of a risk?

Better individual defender. Better team defender. Higher ball IQ. Better rim protector. Better offensive game. Should I go on? Double k is better than JT in every aspect of the game. Some areas it's not even a contest how much better he is.

I'm probably in the minority but I wouldn't mind an offensive minded PF to back up our current Power Forward. If Cuz goes down, who could generate offense in the post?

Wright's career 3pt shooting is 36.5 %, while Casspi has 35.6%. It's not huge difference, and Wright is 2.5 years older and seems to be quite over-the-hill with points per game falling from 16.4 in 2010-11 to 4.6 last year.
