If I were the owner it would already be done. I'd eat Karl's contract and have Thibs in here tommorow to recreate Team USA.

I'm not the owner, and we just dished out big longterm money to Karl. I would respect the hell out of Vivek if he actually pulled the fire Karl maneuver, but it would be financially painful. Guess Malone getting picked up by Denver might help on that front -- Smart's deal is done, Corbin's should have run out at the end of the year, and Malone's got cancelled with his new hire.

Things continue to change. I'm nowhere near as optimistic as I was just an hour or so ago.

Dave has been hinting that Dmc and Karl needed to get in a room and quash issues for months. Now the report breaks that Karl has been working players for a personnel coup to pitch to Vivek and it got back to DMC.

Also second time in 6 months that our leaky minority owners aren't on the same page as Vivek and they are trying to push him to an outcome and airing our laundry to local and national press to get that done (Karl hire was first.). But here we've got some owners and Karl also talking to teams saying we aren't on the same page but might consider X. Good lord. Still want to take sole credit for Karl, Vivek?

I was a fan in the early dark days. This is such a mess. As bad as its ever been. Our ownership is in a perpetual battle with the minority owners willing to make the others suffer with leaks.

And there are folks that want vets back if we trade Dmc????

This is just grim

This just smells too damn fishy... First the Lakers are aggressively pursuing Cousins, and now all sorts of these crazy allegations come out when the Kings said no to the trade. I sense some sabotage here from rivals.

No offense to Carmichael Dave who otherwise seems like a nice guy, but he's an idiot. If he had any brains at all and cared about this team he would stop dropping self-serving "I know what's up and you're not going to like it when I tell you" teasers. And he would either stop speculating about things he doesn't actually know or stop reporting on things that he does know because a mixture of the two means he has zero credibility as a reliable source of information. You have to understand who your sources are. If Adrian Wojnarowski comes out with a scoop involving the Kings and cannot cite anyone currently in the organization by name than it's complete horsecrap. Anybody lapping this stuff up is either incredibly gullible or a sycophant. So the story is out there -- fine. They struck first. But there's an easy way to fix this. Blow up Woj's sources -- if someone wants to speak openly on record that's one thing. If not, then George Karl and Vlade and Vivek say straight out .. you're a lier and there's no truth to this at all. False reports are not internal discord. False reports are not strained lines of communication. False reports are sloppy journalism and there's no reason at all to hold back considering Woj has already proven himself to be a complete hack with no journalistic integrity at all.

Value needs to fix this immediately by coming out with a No Trade Cousins statement, loud and firm. Other "sources" are just going to create more crap.

Quite to the contrary, when not making it personal Woj is traditionally the gold standard amongst NBA reporters. He's tied into everything and everybody. Once he says something its typically when you know its true. I'm clinging to a minor hope he has overrelied on PDA as a source, but that would be a rare ****up on his part.

Just scrolling and lurking through this thread is making me depressed! I think I will go into hibernation until opening night, and wake up and hopefully see that Boogster is still on this team. All of this is just too much for my blood pressure, which is already high enough as it is

Look, I'm not going to say anything more about this, but you should know that this is not the first time people with some connections have hinted about something like this. Not the full campaign, but the problem.
