i go hard in FA based on who we draft.

If we draft Mundiay or Herzonja then im looking at DeAndrew, Gasol or more realistically Chandler

If we draft WCS then im going hard at Matthews though USA today reports he's looking for a 15mill a year deal

Kings can give Matthews $15 million using Landry, Stauskas and Mccallum in a S&T (likely with some additional incentives given how negative Carl's value is perceived right now). Main problem is Wes' desire for a bigger role.

Vlade has more important things on his mind, but right now would be the best time to sell the rest of protection on a pick, going to Chicago. Uncertainty raises its value a lot, but when Kings patch holes in the roster with low level vets, and it would be clear, they will try to challenge for POs till the end of the season, value of the protection will drop to 0.
Kings could use every resource this summer.

Kings trade Landry+Stauskas+McCallum to Cleveland for Haywood+24th pick. I think if we get an under the table deal from Matthews, we should do a trade like that even though we're not getting equal value for Stauskas.

If WCS doesn't go in the top 5, there's a very high chance he'll be available to as low as 10. There could be a scenario where we trade back while still drafting WCS too. We can use Landry as bait and still keep Nik. (Who we can package in a separate deal).

The Kings have the money to make a run at big FAs. All we have to do is unload a few contracts.

Hell no do you just throw Nik away like that. We can get to 14mill anyway. Decline DWill cap hold that puts us at 52.3mill add in WCS salary for the 6 pick at 3.3mill. That gives us 11.5mill available what I've read is if we waive landry it takes 3.4 mill off brining us to 14.9mill available. If we offer that to Wes I don't see many teams taking that risk. Leaving the offseason with WCS/Matthews is a home run.

You are missing 3 non-guaranteeds and cap holds - with a cap of $67.1 million Kings will have $8.5 million in cap space, and waive&stretch of Carl's contract would bump that to $12 million only. There's absolutely no place for Nik with Wes coming in anyway.

Luke Ridnour looks like he got traded to the Grizz.

Depending on what moves we make, we may want to consider Beno here

He's guaranteed 923k if waived by July 5th

$2,170,465 otherwise.

I'd think Ray to Memphis at his salary of $947,276 being basically a wash for them if they waive Beno would likely give up a second. They have a 2016 second (worse of Boston or Toronto's pick).

So not a great second, but if you want a cheap veteran and at least a cheap pick back now is the time.

I'm in favor of considering that. Beno is one of the best value backups in the league and would be a good fit here....just like Casspi

I agree, and this early in the off season, I think the Grizz may bite with Ray deep on the roster at a discount. They don't have to waste the Beno money if they'd rather not pay him in full. They get a team option cheap on Ray next season too. So I could see them giving up that second.

We need some veterans, could still add Miller possibly too, and with a pick back maybe we strike some budget gold again.

I think that'd be a very solid small move.

I'll sway a bit from the Karl-DMC topic just to say that I like the rumors about Rondo and McGee interest with Kings.

This would add good depth where need experienced players as long as Rudy and DMC ain't moving.

Would you expect them to want out of the full Beno contract?
Memphis only have MLE and big hole at SF with Carter playing like 38 y.o. wing and Green being not useful in the second part of the season. No way Grizzlies waive Beno.

Mcgee to Karl's team is basically a non-starter, so just a good work by their agents.

So the savings of 1.2 million and the ability of a team option on Ray next season would mean little?

There's a reason Kings fans want Udrih over Mccallum. Grizzlies' management wouldn't trade Beno for Ray for that very reason. Memphis is nowhere near Luxury Tax, so they don't care about $1.2 million, if it improves team performance.

Having the savings though this early in the off season you do not think would be tempting? Ray is still a prospect too, he may improve, while Beno is going to be the same old Beno.

I dunno, I think they consider it.

McGee would actually be really solid off the bench. I'm all for grtting that guy. He's a hustle player who brings it every night. Imagine Cousins and McGee together..I think they would become really close off the court.

Sort of depends on what is out there.

If we draft WCS may be over kill, if we draft someone who allows Rudy to move to the 4 it could be insurance if the new fella needs development time.

If Thompson starts, we have no drafted 4 or 5 off the bench, Landry and McGee could work. Or in rare instances a Cousins McGee pairing for defense may give Karl some occasional options too.

McGee may come really cheap too.

If Mcgee is looking for 1 year vet minimum and PT, it's a no-brainer anyway you look at it, but if he wants something more, Kings have more pressing needs.

At 12 mill I think we are still in play for Wes

Even if this board slowly gets back to normal, and the explosion slowly fades away, doesn't mean anyone forgets about it. No one of note will come over here, unless they get a lot of additional money or expanded role. At $12 million Wes likely gets other suitors.

If WCS is the pick 12M gets us in the Danny Green overpay area. Probably can't swing Wes although he's better. If we pick a wing we're going to have to pay for a big (Kosta maybe?)
