[Game] Game 76: Kings v. Jazz, 4/5/15 - 6pdt, 9edt

I wish Grant and Herry would constantly tell us how amazing the refs always are in this quarter.
Gets old though. I mean this is the Utah Jazz we're not talking about, not some big market superstar filled team. If every single game we're supposedly getting screwed by refs maybe the refs aren't the main problem.

I'm not nearly as down as some around here, this team is competing even though they are severely out talented or out experienced almost every night they play. The benefits are this is quality learning experience for some of the young players and the Kings haven't completely screwed up their lotto pick either. At least yet, ha. Give Karl Gay and DC and see what happens before we start making comparisons. Tell me any other team in the league that wouldn't be in the same situation or worse if they lost their number 2 and 3 options.

They sat their two best players the entire fourth, we couldnt compete against there back ups and rookies.

5 game losing streak that comes at the best time, if you reverse it, we would be in real danger of losing our pick. Orlando has won 2 in a row, might catch them for the 5th pick.
A few points of order:

  1. **** that pick.
  2. There's no such thing as a good time for a five game losing streak.
  3. **** that pick.
  4. It's not like we're tanking, anyway. If we were, I imagine that Bhullar's minutes over the last two games would have been significantly higher than zero. At the very least, Hollins' would have been.
  5. Did I mention, **** that pick?

Stupid marketing gone amok, made worse promoting a so far nobody rookie bench scrub.
I truly do not understand why a few of you just can't stand to see something fun going on. WHO DOES IT HURT? Sorry, but some Kings fans have become real snobs...

Yeah, but you're still on strike. :p

This is a career year for shooting guards anytime they face Sacramento. A rookie Rodney Hood is all ready better than our current Ben McLemore. Cousins had way too many turnovers and forced shots...but that's beside the point here. Maybe next year Nik will start ahead of Ben.

I will be very surprised if one of them is not traded and not shocked if both are gone.

And what has Nik shown to say he should be a starting SG in the NBA?

And if you're going to compare Ben to Hood, you should have picked a night when Ben didn't have a better stat line than him.

Earlier in the season I felt the same as you about the pick. Now the pick represents a player whether drafted or traded for. I think the number 5 or 6 pick in this draft can net a high level starter at PF or SG in trade. Pair the pick with one of the young SG's and you might get the starter and trade away Landry:D

Someone tried to say SG is not a weakness of this team... SG is THE weakest of this team. We have 2 young nice potential players, but they aren't consistent on either side of the floor.

I'm sad. We desperately need to add Wesley Matthews to this roster.. or another vet SG. Danny Green? Give him 10my

And it's no damn ****ing coincidence we give up career nights to nearly every damn SG in the NBA.

Austin Rivers? Yea! Make him not a bust anymore!
Klay Thomspon? Set a NBA record sure..go ahead
Harden? Carry on...
Rodney Hood? YES. BEST SG IN THE 2015 DRAFT!

SG is a weakness of this team. I am petitioning that we trade one of Ben or Nik. Cannot keep both unless Nik is going to transition into a PG. We need a vet. VET SG. Pathetic... I don't know of a team with a worse SG position than ours. Young guys who are inconsistent on both ends of the floor. I'm tired of these career nights.

Needed this loss. Some easy games to close the season vs Minnesota and @ Utah are both winnable if Gay comes back. Denver is in full tank mode and 2 games vs the Lakers D-League squad. Only obvious loss is @OKC who will be fighting for their playoff lives.

Hornets should probably dump MKG, right?

Damn, Ariza is a scrub!!!

Iggy allowed this D-Leaguer score on him as well...

Hot games happen all the time. Hot games in a finishing stretch happen even more often.
Hood is actually older, than Ben. Hood IS more polished than Ben.

I know, people are frustrated with all the losing, and complain all the time about "dumb plays", but what's interesting, if you look through, say, Shaqtin-A-Fool Kings are barely appearing there, because mistakes, they make, are those of lack of experience type, which is common. It took Ben a while, but he's starting to figure out things offensively under new regime. Yes, it feels, he takes a lot of plays off, but again he's figuring out new schemes, and it might seem he's running like a headless chicken, but that's because he makes mistakes and tries to erase them running very fast - vets just turn around, and head to the other basket without making desperate efforts.

It's not just 1 game though. There's stats that indicate our team is the WORST in defending SGs. We allow the 2nd highest FG% to SGs each game behind the Lakers. We pretty much beat every team in the rest of the categories though. If I can find those stats again, I'll edit them here.

The Kings will end up with the 12th pick somehow. Because Sacramento "luck".

I'm salty and super pessimistic right now.
It's actually mathematically impossible for us to get the 12th pick. 11th pick, yes, sure. We could win the remaining games and Denver and Detroit could lose the rest of theirs, giving us the 8th pick, while 3 teams could jump us to the top 3, giving us the 11th pick...but cmon. Nah. I think we'll end up with the 7th pick behind Denver.

A lot of teams have cap space idont see us getting Wes/Green.

If we get a good vet SG, Ben or Nik would probably grow into a pretty awesome backup (one needs to be traded).

If we get a good vet PF, JF would be an awesome backup.

Rudy comes back.....Omri should be a serviceable (he's inconsistent, but I'm a fan) backup.

DC comes back and Ray should be a pretty good backup.

I maintain that we are 2 moves (+ health) away from taking a huge leap. It just remains to be seen if we make those 2 moves. Throw in drafting WCS or one of the stud SFs.

Vlade isn't a fool. Karl isn't a fool. Mullin was a fool but he is gone. PDA is a fool but he might be on the way out. Vivek is a fool, but at least he's starting to realize that. I think this summer will be huge.

Yes but as far as relating acquiring some good talent with a losing streak, I'm with Slim.

For what its worth Hood only hit 4 out of 9 shots against Ben and 2 of those were in transition.

Really if we want to stop losing games we need to stop making interior passes that aren't there. We give up more points in transition than any team in the league.
Agree with this. Even though we shouldn't lay the blame for Hood's career night on Ben, I agree with those that say Ben has to be replaced as our starter.

Going into the game, if someone told us Ben would score 20, grab 5 rebounds, dish out 4 assists and nab 4 steals, we would be ecstatic.

Yet watching the game, he just looks awful. I don't know how he does it. He is an anomaly as far as I'm concerned. He can score 0 one night and 25 the next. He can score in the single digits and stay in front of his man all night on D or he can score 20+ points efficiently and still look like one of the worst players on the floor.

I just don't get it. He looked absolutely god awful yesterday, yet winds up with the kind of box score we wished Kevin Martin would get every night. Just makes no sense how wildly erratic his play is. I've never seen anything like it.

Because perception and personal preference is overriding the facts.
