surely there is no way malone comes back as an assistant.

he did a solid job but coming back to us as an assistant would be like recognising to himself and the league that he's fine with being an assistant. Would have thought he'd be great for orlandos head coaching role. Young solid big, great young wing, great young guards. build something there coach and we'll see you in the finals in a few years.

if your malone your focusing on the positives, pushing the story that you were hard done by the circus of ownership/GM in sac and pushing for a head coaching role on a young team. I'll say it - coming back to us would be a step backwards career wise. There is enough there to warrent bigger and better things. Boy would we take him, though its a pipedream i feel.
The firing was bad for us, but great for him. He got to take all of the credit of the turnaround without going through any midseason doldrums. He's now established that he can turn a team around, make misfits play defense and buy in, and while he wasn't some offensive genius, he is a competent coach that has guys playing hard. He has nothing left to prove at the assistant level. He's still getting a paycheck. Now he can bide his time and wait for the right opportunity, the right personnel, and the right front office.

I agree completely. Other than is family and daughters possibly having to relocate again, this was a great career step for Malone. Almost like a promotion. He got huge cred out of the deal.

Orlando is doing the unrepentant interim-coach-for-the-season tank. However, I would not at all be surprised to see Malone land the Orlando job over the summer. In fact, I'm kind of guessing that is exactly what will happen.

I think radio guys adopt certain things in order to fill the airtime. Rome basically restates his one point 3 different ways. I can't stand his show. Grant pauses for the longest time as well. Drives me up the wall. I don't think single person sports radio is for me.
See, here's the dirty little secret about sports radio, and I realize that this may come across as blasphemous on a sports message board: sports aren't really all that interesting. There are only so many different things that can be said about the same subject, before everyone's "takes" begin to bleed over into each other.

In any given three-hour sports radio show, there's about forty-five minutes worth of discussion you can have, before you start repeating yourself. That's why my favorite sports radio programs are the ones that are emphatically not 'hard core' sports talk. Even better are the ones that openly mock the hard core sports culture.

Oh god.. Rome... He keeps saying the same thing over and over and a different way (but pretty much the same words). It's really annoying... Not to mention "rack him" to idiot callers that didn't even have a good take. I don't listen to his show any more.

Rome is a joke. How he piles up ratings (if he really does) is beyond me. Dude mostly grunts his way through his boring show. Same endless silly tricks and 80s sound track nonsense. Reportedly highest paid sports show talker at $30M annual - totally insane!

Rome is the Rush Limbaugh of Sports Talk Radio. Huge audience because he appeals to such base values and does so unapologetically. If you can shamelessly appeal to the bottom (culture wise) 20% of the market, they'll treat like a god and love you forever.

Monarchs and MLS are good picks to be the news. I'd be happy about the MLS news. Not crazy ecstatic, but the MLS would be good.

If it really was something that Kings fans were ecstatic about, it would be Vlade joining the staff.

"Grant Napear Appreciation Night."

Complete with Grant's "jersey" being hung in the rafters.

If you don't like that, you don't like red-headed self-aggrandizing New Yorkers!

"Grant Napear Appreciation Night.".. in the new arena (need to add this to get to the ecstatic level; otherwise it's just reaches the phenomenal level. Period!)

That might be it then. Why would Doug be traveling down to an LA game otherwise? Unless he was working radio?
Well I just guessed because I said "what would make ME ecstatic as a Kings fan" and that was it. He'd be a hell of a defensive coach and you can be damn sure nobody is gonna thrill Leslie Moore with another 37 point quarter at our expense again.

Still loving the way you ordered the quotes in your signature.
