Yes, there's a game. And no, for those who may have misunderstood, Boogie wasn't facing a suspension for what happened yesterday. He was ejected because of two technicals. Period.

A team in chaos and a fanbase in revolt is not how I expected to see the Kings start 2015. I love our Kings. That will not change. However, I am totally fed up with the circus surrounding it. These were supposed to be better times. We survived the Brother Maloof attempts to steal our team away in the dead of night. We survived the threat of losing the team if a new arena wasn't approved. We even survived some of the worst lineups to ever don a Kings jersey.

Anyway, I digress.

Tonight's game in Minnesota will be ... a game. Other than that, I got nothing.

GO KINGS!!!

Kind of a lose lose situation tonight.

Beat the 5-25 Timberwolves and the fan base says "big deal, things are still awful in Kings land"
Lose to the 5-25 Timberwolves and......................

I know there is but couldn't find the thread. Anyway, please add this post to it, or not.

A new strategy. Get the ball to Cuz or Gay. Have them make big change to their existing MO even at the risk of losing games. Have them pepper the hell out of passes to whoever is standing at the 3 pt. line and insist that the receiver take the shot. Let each of our receivers shoot and shoot until they get the misses out of their system or the game is over. If it doesn't work then repeat the process the next game and then the next. Maybe it might improve things and the style of our play. Worst case scenario - we lose games. Upside - ??? I'd just like to see it.
I've moved this here at pshn80's request. :)

Digress all you wish, VF21. I hope the newer people to this forum understand that if VF21 takes a prolonged negative stance towards the Kings staff, not players, something catastrophic has happened and it is not with her. I am sure there are people more positive than she is although I cannot think of anyone off hand.

This note is supposed to be about the upcoming game. I spent many years living in Minneapolis. Minnesota is my home state. Click on my avatar and then click on my hometown and you will see what a hick I am. This doesn't make me a Timberwolves fan by any means but some of my family are T'Wolve fans so if we lose, which we shouldn't, I can feel happy for them. I expect Cousins to switch back to the new and better Boogie. He is not a mass of athletic flesh without a thoughtful brain as I think people from outside the area would like to believe. He will try to lead. I hope Rudy does also. If they lead, the rest will follow and there should be a win.

I think one clue we'll get from today's game is whether or not the team supports Corbin. If we see hustle and effort, then it's a good thing. If we see the same kind of lackadaisical play as we've seen since Malone's departure, I'm going to take it as a clear sign that Corbin does NOT have the support of the players. I'm not talking about winning or losing - I'm talking about effort like we saw earlier in the year.

So is it official Cuz isn't out in this one? Last I read they wouldn't know until around the tip. If he gets suspended for that it will be funny. Shaq used to smack guys and get a slap on the wrist for his trouble.

Where did you read that? He was ejected because of two technicals. There was no flagrant call, nor should there have been.

Injury report:

Omri Casspi (left knee bone contusion) - OUT
Ramon Sessions (low back strain) - OUT
Eric Moreland (left shoulder labral tear) -OUT

This ongoing problem with Casspi's knee is a little concerning. It could also explain why he's not playing like he did earlier in the year. Get well soon, Omri!!

I suspect they like Corbin. I wouldn't even be surprised if they feel a little sorry for him. I doubt if Corbin can motivate. What I am interested in is a little twist on what you are thinking about, can Cousins, Casspi, Collison, and maybe Rudy provide the kind of leadership that will provide the energy and can Corbin provide the structure that any coach is supposed to do. I don't think we will get back to the way they were playing under Malone and at this point in my thought processes, anger takes over.

I think they can be better and hustle and if ANY of that impetus comes from Corbin, we have gotten very lucky. Maybe Ty needs to take a tech for Boogie. Couldn't hurt.

We'll find out soon. :)

I'm just hoping they didn't stay out too much later than usual. ;) I think it was interesting to note who WASN'T in that picture. I can think of three names right off the top of my head.

Casspi is out again with more knee problems. :( My little brother (he's 6'8") played basketball all through high school and first year of college. He had a knee problem that ended up with ongoing fluid on the knee that kept him from pursuing his career any further.

I have some faith that the players melded enough as a team to play better than they have. Unfortunately for Boogie, and I really feel sorry for him, a lot of this is on his shoulders. With Malone, there were two of them. Crap. I may not ever recover from what I think was the biggest blunder since 1985.

I'm going into this game with a positive attitude though.

I haven't actually seen anything about a league review of the second T, but the league definitely can go back and review that sort of thing, and the body slam was worrisomely flagrant even if it wasn't called flagrant live. I wouldn't be surprised if the league reviewed it. But I haven't seen anything about it.

if it's a win it doesn't mean much..if it's another loss its just part of the "tanking" plan...so either way just hoping to watch some effort out there and see how Cousins responds and company. Based on that picture though...we probably won't be seeing much from half of the roster.

One mystery solved - Bobby is back for the pre-game. As much as I've always liked Bobby, I have to be honest and say I really appreciated having Doug Christie's POV. I know, I'm never happy. :)

No offense to Bobby, but I thought Doug did a better job in studio. I'd like to see him stick around in the broadcasting team in some form.

So you think there is an official tank plan. I sure don't. I don't think tanking will get us as far as a well tuned team effort with the goal being to win. I sure don't want the goal to be to lose. It is unlikely a high draft pick will help more than a team that is trying to win.

My only basis of argument is the culmination of my past relationships with friends & family, but I think Corbin should find a way to approach the team in the best possible way. He shouldn't try to "replace" Malone; he needs to approach the team along the lines of, "We're all in this together. I know you're sad and angry, and that your emotions may get the better of you at times, but do your best to not make that an excuse. The opposing team has no mercy, and so should you."

Or some other, better mantra.

While I do agree with you....the logic isn't there and they don't want to hire a coach this season with 50 games remaining but that's the boat we are in and if the players don't want to play for Corbin then they really don't deserve to win because at this point...you have to suck it up and be a professional and take what Malone left in his short stint here and apply it to the team in order to get back to the winning track.

I'm really ready for some Kings basketball. I want to see heart and hustle, effort and energy (a mantra that goes back to the old Peja days). I'm tempted to go back into the archives and pull out my "Shut up, suck it up and play" lecture from years ago... Our guys just need to put their heads down and play on through.

Let's go KINGS!!!

I'm just gonna beg people to drop the whole tank thing. There's a separate thread for it. Can't we just leave it there and not bring it up elsewhere? It almost makes me literally ill to think about tanking and the game thread is something I always try to approach with at least a neutral if not positive attitude.
