Rudy Gay is not clutch, nor a crunch time player. Anyone who has seen these last 10 games, knows he's terrible down the stretch. He chokes at the end of games with stupid iso plays and terrible shot selection. Look at this article about the Raptors months after Gay was traded.. http://sports.nationalpost.com/2014...est-fourth-quarter-team-since-rudy-gay-trade/

Coincidence? I think not. I'd rather have Collison be the leader of this team while Cousins is out. It is terrible to see Gay as our 1st option. He's not clutch either..

Another poster said rudy just isn't a winner and I have to agree. He can put points on the board and keep your team coasting to a win, but when it's crunch time he folds
I've said that multiple times and it's the prevailing notion from the majority of fans in Toronto and even Memphis. Sorry to say he's not a winner, I could say the term for what he is but people would not like it. He's just a guy that puts up big scoring numbers on crappy teams.

That's why I think going forward (and let's face it this team is going nowhere this year) Ben McLemore needs to develop into the 2nd best all around player on this team. He's already a better defender then Rudy and I'd imagine by next season he will be quite a bit better defensively. Now whether the regime gives a damn about that who knows...... Offensively Ben still has a long ways to go before he surpasses Rudy but he has shown a strong work ethic and proven ability to improve so there is hope. The one vibe I don't get from Ben is the "non winner" thing that Rudy has. Ben has shown me this year in the 4th quarter to be pretty clutch and defensively he has really made some key hustle plays late in games. That is what winners do.....do the little things down the stretch. Rudy doesn't do that he just forces shots, turns the ball over, loses sight of his man, and gets beat on the boards.

Avery Johnson full of jokes.

"Looking for them to be much improved offensively, looking for them to play faster, that was the problem they said they had under Mike Malone so I was looking for them to score over 120 pts tonight....laughs....we didn't get it."
NBA players, coaches, fans, writers, analysts, etc all consider us a joke now.

this crap sucks

I fully expected iso plays for Gay because Corbin hasn't had time to implement new plays and Gay is or best player and only one who can create consistently.

True bens mistakes are due to lack of experience. Rudy's are like ITs, which is pound the ball and throw up a heavily contested shot or pound the ball and throw a bail out pass and turn the ball over. I'm sick of this crap

Who did you want to get the ball tonight? Run a play of 9 passes and 3 screens to get a bad pass or a moving screen? Rudy is not good, when he's the only player able to get his shot off. At some point Thunder stopped fooling around, put the clamps on, and all the fun ended instantly.

If there was ever a game where we should have gone small ball @ the 4 spot this was it, Ibaka other than shooting wide open has no offensive game what so ever and he wouldn't be able to take advantage of anyone in the paint. I can only assume Casspi is getting traded if he's not playing and Derrick actually did a few good things, this was not the game to play Reggie Evans big mins. I really thought we should have played Gay/Wlliams/Casspi @ the 4 and have JT/Hollins split C playing time.

Can we please for the love of god have this Ramon Sessions for the rest of the season.

I agree. Rudy Gay needs to be a 2nd/3rd option on a team. We cannot, and should not go to him down the stretch.

Ben is still a work in progress, but I'm very optimistic about him. We need better overall talent on this roster. The main difference between the starters and bench was Rudy. Rudy is a ball stopper. I remember when the lead was cut to 8 after a good shot by Collison(?) and they passed the ball to Rudy. He literally dribbled it all the way down the clock and forced up a shot. With the bench, everyone was moving around, the ball was moving, and we fought back.

Rudy needs to buy into the team concept.

I don't understand how this FO wants a faster moving offense with these current players. Especially Rudy and Demarcus. It means we'd gut it all apart.

This isn't about tonight. It happens too often in our close games when he isn't pressured (lakers?) and Even with cousins in he still turns the ball over at a high rate.

My biggest issue with Rudy down the stretch isn't so much the missed shots (because some of them are good), it's the dumb turnovers, ball-stopping and not even attempting to create a play for his teammates, lack of hustle for loose balls and rebounds, and complete lack of defense on whomever he is guarding. Other players clamp down on their man down the stretch, he does the opposite and starts losing his man all over (probably thinking too much about his next shot).

I don't even think you can be a good team with Rudy as your 2nd best player. Long term he needs to be the 3rd best player. A guy you can get big offense from at stretches during the game but just don't count on him to do anything else positive especially down the stretch.

True #2 options don't usually have as many flaws as Rudy does so that's just the reality.

When was the last time anyone on this team dropped a dime?

Not just an assist, but a pass that made you said "damn that was a nice pass."

I really don't think anybody on this roster has the basketball IQ to run the style of play these guys are talking about...

Hate to bring up old news but I think it was the IT and Reke days

Boogie.

But outside of that, the last person would be Tyreke

Yes, Rudy gay has had some terrible shot selection even with Cousins playing which destroys the momentum of games. Did it in many games this year in 4th quarters.

Take look at http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/SAC/2015.html#advanced::none and note the usg%/TOV% ratio. Rudy gets featured more when game is on the line, so his TOs are easier to remember, but somehow he isn't responsible for all of them, and by the looks of it he doesn't have that much of a TO problem at all for an elite scorer.
And LOL at Rudy not creating for others...

"Deeply disheartened" would be the best way to describe the fans right now. I was not surprised we lost to OKC without Cousins. But... losing to Detroit at home? WTF.

Think of it this way: without Cousins, the Kings are the worst team in the league. We need more talent!

Casspi has a left knee contusion, which can take a while to heal.

Ok I thought I read after the last game before this one he would be available, guess it didn't pull up to well or I completely misread and maybe read something I wanted to be real.
