Streak broken.

And the streak is broken, I guess.

It wasn’t exactly a pretty victory nor was it a moral victory of any kind but the streak of losses without Boogie simply had to end eventually. But for a while there, it seemed like the streak would live on yet another day.

Then Carl Landry saved the day, swooping in for the winning putback with the combined grace of a harpooned walrus and a beached whale, rescuing the Kings from another loss in which they surrendered a double digit lead in the second half, this time against a team featuring an injury report longer than its roster. In other words, it wasn't pretty.

Awards Time
Tony Delk Memorial Award- CJ Watson wrought havoc on our backup guards (as everyone else does).

Jason Hart Award- The entire bench for being entirely too Kings bench-ey in the second quarter, fourth quarter, and any time in between. Even the hero of the game was a relative black hole of suck for a lot of the night.

Mikki Moore Award- Chris Copeland has the hair and the requisite lack of production on the night. He's also a power forward being forced to play on the wing because it's the 2014 Pacers.

WTF Moment- The entire game after the fourth quarter. What the hell did I watch?

The View from the Other Side
A win means a return of the View From the Other Side. Today’s views are stolen from the always great Pacers Digest. (Also, due to a formatting error, these time stamps correspond to JST. My bad, y’all)

8:39 Honestly when you look at that Portland game, it has all the earmarks of a standard Pacers win, we just didn't get calls at the rim. Not blaming the refs, Portland's D at the rim may have been that good, but scoring over 50% of your points in the paint is a good baseline to start with.

10:21 With Cousins out for tonight, the Kings don't have much size. Since it is the second night of a back to back, this screams for Allen to get 20+ minutes. If he doesn't, there is something seriously wrong with Frank's thinking.

11:07 With Cousins out for tonight, the Kings don't have much size. Since it is the second night of a back to back, this screams for Allen to get 20+ minutes. If he doesn't, there is something seriously wrong with Frank's thinking.

11:08 Wait, Boogie is out tonight? We may have a chance then.

The Kings are a very good team, though, even without Boogie. Gay has been great for them and DC is having a very good year as well.

11:20 David, you cannot allow Jason Thompson to outmuscle you inside.

11:21 Are we going to get blown out by the Kings now?

11:21 *sigh*

So much for taking advantage of our huge size advantage.

11:27 Kings announcers **** on Jan Vesely, but are kind enough to not do so by name.

11:28 Play Lavoy Allen and Donald Sloan. We were winning with those guys. CJ Watson has been brutal the past few games. Mahinmi is an offensive liability. Cannot make free throws

11:29 Honestly this type of game is a must win for us, even at this point in the year. A team we match up well against, missing their best player, giving us a huge advantage...

We can't afford to drop games like this if we want to tread water and creep back to 500 or above.

Lots of time left, but I am really disappointed with our effort thus far.

11:35 Carl Landry looks like Vin Baker all of a sudden.

11:37 34 points surrendered in the 1st quarter to the Cousins-less Kings. Figure it the **** out!

11:38 Every flipping time they go to the rim. They hesitate. Then go up and get the foul. That's the main reason we're losing right now. And i think it is written down that run and gun works against us. It's so annoying.

11:43 Reggie Evans is a defensive sieve. We should go at him.

11:46 Well, we almost just lost CJ Miles for the season, which I guess would have been bad.

11:56 Great run here. Rudež really put us in his back and carried us in this stretch. He played really solid D and hit two big 3s.

12:07 I have to admit, I miss the scrappy underdog version of this team. I wish it could continue with our current lineups.

12:08 David, you carried us against Sacramento 2 years ago. I still remember that Dark Knight of the Post video. But we need you tonight. We need you to do something positive on the court. I know that most of it is rust and not having developed chemistry with the rest of the new guys (Solo, CJ Miles, Stuckey) but we need you to produce.

Lavoy Allen is too good of a player to not play when the people in front of him in the rotation are struggling.

12:10 Send David West home to Indianapolis on an early flight. Or send him to one of 29 other destinations, I don't care.

12:13 One of the Kings announcers is from French Lick. They're my favorite and possibly best non Pacers announcing crew in the NBA. They know their stuff.

12:26 I'm very disappointed in Roy Hibbert tonight. He cannot do anything when guarded by a cab driver. Tonight reminds me of the Hawks series all over again

12:30 We're feeding Hibbert like he's Tinsley in overtime.

12:32 How many points are we going to let Gay score on Copeland before we change something.

12:43 Pacers are frustrated. You can't afford to be frustrated when you're lacking a talented perimeter guy to calm everybody down.

12:53 Better employ the hack-a-reggie strategy in the 4th.

12:54 If we could hit open jumpshots we would be good #analysis

12:56 Another game there for the taking.

1:00 Clock has struck midnight and we are a pumpkin

1:01 I really dislike Reggie Evans' flopping.

1:08 They're panicking. Everything is either a post up or a terribly quick jumper. There's no 11 point shot you doofuses.

1:15 Kings basically begging us to rain down threes tonight and we're like "Nah, bruh, we good to just rim it up"

1:15 PG is more athletic than Gay will ever be...... but Gay has a smooth shooting guard stroke in a small forward body. PG not so much. But PG has gotten way better since his rookie days.... thankfully.

1:20 94-86 Kings 3:07 left.

1:20 Hibbert passed Dale Davis for 4th on the franchise's all-time blocks list.

1:23 Evans is to short for Roy

1:23 What the **** was that by Darren Collison?

1:24 Big plays there from Stuckey and Roy.

Ps. Glad to see the real DC we all know and love appear in this 4th qtr

1:24 Don't care if DC slid on accident, it should have been called as a foul

1:26 Solo just ate Gay alive and West ****ed it up with one of the dumbest fouls you'll ever see

1:33 LOL yeah that play didn't work, but I want to talk about why on earth was Copeland even on the court.

1:33 Stuckey had McLemore beat. That was a layup waiting to happen. Damn. Good OOB play from Frank

1:40 Rodney missing those FTs sucks bad.

1:40 CJ ****ING WATSOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON

1:42 Come on, DC, you can't stiff arm in basketball.

1:42 Collison been getting away with that horse **** all game. Finally nailed his ***

1:43 Roy and Solo have swallowed the Kings offense whole.

1:45 Y'all ready to get your hearts broken, Pacers Digest?

1:45 Feel like we're about to get pay back for last year.

1:46 geez....MFer.

Is .8 seconds good enough time to get a good shot off?

1:47 West blew the damn block out Jesus.

1:49 I sense a Hibbert 3pt shot attempt again

1:52 **** Reggie Evans

1:52 Typical Pacer loss. We get screwed by incompetent officials. David West was hacked at the end of regulation, and Evans shoved him on the Landry rebound

1:52 For you guys dogging on West, we would have never been in a position to win without him.

1:53 Well, David was boxing out against two guys here since Roy went up to contest Gay's shot. The reality is that one of our guards should have helped David out in this box out.

This **** sucks. If it wasn't for that lucky *** tip-in that should have never went in we would have won this game. If it wasn't for Rodney's two missed FTs we would have won that game. If it wasn't for this box out we would have won that game.

We played good enough to win but we didn't manage to get the W in the end. This road trip has been marked by a huge lack of luck.

1:54 7-13

Not good enough for playoffs, not bad enough for lottery. Absolute no man's land.

1:56 Notice that West had some words with that bum Reggie Evan at the end of the game. He was pissed that Evans had to cheat to win

1:58 What a demoralizing loss.

We had so many opportunities. We didn't play that well at all IMO, weren't hitting shots most of the night, and still had a chance to win at the buzzer twice and just couldn't.

Honestly there were several things during that game that really lucked out for the Kings, and we just couldn't overcome it.

I am so glad this trip is over.

2:01 Reggie Evans always cheats to win. That's his whole strategy. He is one of the few non-superstar players that I really dislike basketball-wise. He is one of the dirtiest players in the league and one of the worst floppers as well.

2:04 That bs tip by Thompson

Not getting the And-1 call on DC's slide into Stuckey

Hill missing an open Stuckey at the end of regulation

West and Stuckey missing open mid range Js they normally hit in OT

Stuckey missing two FTs

West missing the block out assignment.

So many small things to consider in a 1pt loss like this

2:12 I didn't get to watch most of the game, but it's pretty clear based on the +/- that CJ Miles and Ryan Hollins were the players of the game. ****ing Hollins.

2:40 If any of you wants a list of the players that I truly dislike (for the way they play basketball) then know that Reggie Evans is at the absolute top of that list.

4:38 nice to see ex-pacer darren collison have a good showing. he made stuckey look like a sloth.

5:25 Well, NBA is star-favoring league and right now, we don't have any name on jersey back which would get favors (not even a name like GAY). That's part of it...

But today, FT's are pretty much in line with the fact that we took 26 treys and Sacto 10. One is not getting FTs out of long jump shots.

Tonight's Game

If you know what's good for you, you'll never Google his name.
And now it's time for tail half of a rare home back-to-back. I'd say things were getting easier but, heck, nothing is going to be easy until Boogie gets back.

The Magic are a young team full of young players, random old guys, and perhaps the best big man under 25 not named Boogie or the Brow.

I think this is a loss...especially if Vucevic is playing, which he didn't last night in Utah. Tobias Harris should have a good game...you don't need to guard Elfrid Payton.

I don't think this is a definite loss, because Orlando is not very good, and they played last night, too. But I definitely think this a game we can lose. The funny thing about the contentious thread in the Personnel Moves forum is that Frye is actually a bad defensive matchup for Thompson, because he likes to set up shop outside. Malone may want to employ a cross-match with him and Hollins, whether Vucevic plays or not.

If Vuc plays, we're in trouble.

But thing is, this is the final game of Orlando's roastrip, they are coming off a victory, and they played pretty well on the trip. With a guy with back spasms like that, I would think they'd just let him rest the one last day, and I don't think they play until Weds. after this. So would make sense to rest him, go home, and get another 4 days of rest before trying the back.

Might see DWill tonight with Frye. I think they have been running out some 3 guard offense as well in Payton, Oladipo and Fournier.

With my above post being the definitive answer to whether or not Vucevic will play against the Kings, I believe the Kings can win this game now.

Orlando seems like one of those teams that is so young that they do not realize they are supposed to lose games like this. I hope we can contain their energy and hustle.
