Dave’s suggested 3yrs/9 to 11mil seemed perfect to me, which means it was probably too good to be true.
I don’t care about money. It doesn’t affect the cap, and it isn’t mine to spend but I don’t think he’s earned his way into more than a 3 year extension. Next season’s going to say a lot about both Monte and Brown. Shame this past season was such a waste.

OMG, when was this deal on the table? I would have taken it and run, if it were true.
- Fox, Monk/Huerter, Nesmith, Murray, Sabonis.
Nesmith is a good defender, and is shooting the three well too. This season could have ended very differently with that lineup.

Besides, when Nesmith was in BOS he wasn’t the player he is today and there was no guarantee he was gonna be.
Bringing that rumor up and further speculating about it is just smoke-filled coffee house crap.

What the hell is that tweet trying to say? Sabonis is the problem?! Well, that would be right up your alley STD. Problem is, as has been pointed out a number of times by many others on this board, Kings actually fared well against the “top” teams in the League, it was the mid tier and bottom teams that cost them a top 6 seed.
Hope this is just negotiations with Browns agent. He may be asking for that $15M range that Monty Williams got and the Kings are aiming for $10M.
This tweet is just another version of the "Sabonis isn't good in the playoffs" narrative which really comes down to him being beat up in that GS series last year. He was actually pretty good in the play-in games this year but failing to advance in the playoffs means those lazy national media takes don't change. The clear problem in most of our losses this season (including the last loss to New Orleans which ended our season) has nothing to do with Sabonis, it was the over-reliance on 3pt shooting. If you build the whole offense around taking and making threes as we have, any time you have a game where they aren't falling consistently there's a danger of getting blown out.
Mike Brown deserves some of the blame for allowing that to happen but how much blame is an open question considering the extent to which the entire league has shifted in that direction, our advanced stats focused front office is obviously pushing in that direction, and Vivek himself has favored offense over defense (and anything remotely related to Golden State) in his tenure as owner.

But the dialogue makes it seem like we were a complete disaster, when one or two more wins could have seen us with a favorable first round match up and making it to the semis at the least.
The defense was improving, Keon was a revelation, I'm still a Keegan believer, maybe next year Fox won't take 1.5 months off.... but we gotta have continuity (and less goddamn spray 3s, **** spray 3s)!

I’d like to see the word “spray” banned from all NBA broadcasts. I’d also like to see Mike bring in an assistant or three with a keen offensive mindset. We’ve had our sophomore slump, now bring in some needed pieces to wake up our mind mannered team and let’s play ball.

Does anyone have something about this link wise? I haven't really been able to find anything definitive and I don't remember hearing much about this until Monte went to plan B and most of that was coach fluff for his players sake after the fact. Usually a coach is the one begging for stars and the GM is the one overvaluing the roster they built, haha.

Yeah and that specifically sides with the realities of being a shooting team. Throw it up like that and some nights you'll beat the champs, the next night you'll fall to the JV squad. With the league and the West in particular I think the days of getting very far once the playoffs hit might be much less possible on average.

Makes sense. Per year if Brown wants to be the highest paid coach in the league he's nuts. He's not proven to be that, but coaches in his range are making around that 8 figures per season. Who cares if Vivek has to eat more coaching money in a worst case, he's done it before but his minority owners might care.

Sleep and the extra energy that comes with consistent sleep may be even harder to come by on a regular basis. Another baby is on the way for Fox
Personally if I am the owner of Kings also won’t be rushing into new long term contract what the HC at any price st the moment …
We had one amazing season and one average under Brown … so let him play deep into the 3d season, let’s say 55/60 games and then decide if you want to continue with him or not ….
Our squad isn’t worst the OKC or even Wolves with the small difference that those two were/are deep into the playoffs while we are watching them …
No need to rush signing new contract , no need to fire at this point …. Mostly because you can’t find a coach who is by 110% better then Brown for Kings atm

I don’t think it’s rushing to sign Brown to an extension right now. It actually seems like the right time. The biggest issue for ownership is by not signing him to an extension, you are going to have free agents looking at the situation and wonder……especially Monk. Brown is a good coach, lock him up, don’t eff around on this
It's very easy to spend somebody else's money.
The difference between an amazing season and an average season was two wins. The average season was the sixth best in Sacramento era Kings history. It’s fair to be disappointed but we should be realistic here.
