Just think what the Kings would be like without Webber.... or the Spurs without Duncan... or Miami without Wade, or the Cavs without Lebron... I would be willing to bet those four teams would not be playoff teams this year without those guys.

Thats what makes the decision so hard...

The Kings have always been able to adjust to injuries. Be it C-Webb, Peja, Bobby Jackson or Mateen Cleaves, the Kings have never struggled majorly without any of their stars. While that may hold true for the Spurs, Miami and maybe the Cavs it certainly does not for the Kings. There have always been players on our team who stepped up major in the absence of a star.

I agree with you on the Kings statement but the reason I said it was because they are older, Peja isnt shooting like he was last year, Bobby is out the whole season, and just think... we wouldnt have won 6 in a row or w.e it is without Webber coming through in the end.

These arent the Kings of old and the way the team is playing now, without Webb we MIGHT be in some trouble.

Exactly^^
Phoenix has proof they are not as good with Nash, but what does that really mean? We haven't seen the other teams without their main guy, for extended periods this year. Nash is on Fire but at the end of close games(against good teams) that offense seems to stall. Granted he was still hurting last night, and the seasons still young, But Nash has to show he can lead his team to a tough win over a quality opponent. Even when he was healthy earlier this year I've seen that happen.

Thing is, none of those teams are COMPLETELY dependant on that player, with the exception of Cleveland, like the Suns are. They've already won more games than they did last year, and although I think they'll burn out, they've still become one of the top 5 teams in the West since Nash arrived.

I know we havent seen some of these other teams without their "main man" but ask yourself how good they would be if he was injured and out for a while.
Not sure If you got the fact I was agreeing with every single thing you said...
I think Minnestota would be in a world of hurt, The Cavs would lose a lot of games, The Spurs would become beatable, and I really do think the Kings would struggle right now...

So you want us to vote in the poll but then you're going to disagree with whomever we pick? ;)

You MAY think it's a tough decision but I had no problem with it whatsoever.

Sorry, misread it. :)

I picked Webber because I know, as we all do, how valuable he is to our team this year. He is putting up great numbers, at less than 70% and our team is winning.

70% is what he said at half time during the Cavs game on TNT. He said he wants to get better to around another 30%.

So if he is putting those numbers up and performing the way he is at 70%, then we better watch out.

Nash runs the suns offense. Without him they have no assists, with him, they have someone who can get them the ball. If I didnt pick Webber I would pick Lebron, if not Lebron then I would pick Nash.

Dont get me wrong, Nash is very very valuable to his team and is having a MVP season, no doubt about it BUT I still think all that webber has and is doing gives him a SLIGHT edge over everyone else.

Actually, I think it's way too early to make any kind of real decision. If pressed, I would not vote for Steve Nash simply because the whole team is becoming way too dependent upon him. MVP should inspire but not totally dominate a team to the point where they're useless without him. Since Nash has an almost predictable fade towards the end of the season, what's going to happen to Phoenix when he takes his annual swan-dive? Are they going to be able to rise from the ashes? I'm guessing no. If Nash does falter going down the stretch, the Suns are toast...so to speak.

I voted for Webber. He is doing it all, including putting up some spectacular numbers. AND he's bringing his teammates along. With him we have focus, leadership, dedication, and inspiration. That makes him MVP in my book.

i chose webber, because he said so much ish.... over the summer, then once the season started he backed up those very remarks.... and the way that he's been playing lately.... wow.

If there were such a thing as a first half season MVP I'd give it to Nash, but could esily see an argumnt for Duncan... but there is no such award so... get back to me in April.

I voted for Lebron. Probably won't win, but as Lebron goes, so go the Cavs. The same arguement could be made for Nash or Garnett as well, but I think its even more important for Lebron to play well for the Cavs to do well.

i chose chris.....just cuz i'm a homer and he's made a webber fan outta me again. he's played at an incredibly high level. and, guess what, his team's winning. kevin garnett should be taken off that list, imo, cuz his team could conceivably miss the playoffs this season, and alotta people were saying they were serious title contenders at the start. his numbers are incredibly, but theyre just numbers. they arent translating into wins. whereas webber and the kings, who were predicted as the 10th seed in the west by many, are poised for another championship run. webb's even got bill walton talkin good things about the kings again, so thats gotta count for somethin. ;)

I have visited this thread before, but only just now have decided that Steve Nash has got to be it, after watching the game last night. He logged 45 minutes after being injured (with two different injuries) and it is more than clear THAN EVER that his team, with the best winning record before he went out, cannot function without him. To me, that's what MVP means is all about.

If you asked me who would I want for the Kings, easily it's LeBron. :D

even though he's like an ant that i want to stomp on...i voted for Steve Nash to me RIGHT NOW he's the MVP....all of those guys are having an amazing year...and are all in one way or another the apparent MVP candidates

The voting for MVP is always complicated by the vagueness associated with the award. Is it the player most valuable to THEIR team? Is it simply a vote for the league's best player? Or is team record the most important factor?

If it is the player most important to their team, right now I'd say Nash. We know the Suns record without Nash. What is the Kings record in the games that Webb has sat out? (I wonder how skewed it is by the fact that most of those games were against lesser opponents?) The Lakers have a very good record without Kobe, but they also lucked out in losing him during the weakest part of their season schedule.

I like Tom Tolbert's idea of the MVP being the best player on the team with the best record. It has obvious flaws, but so does any other way of picking the MVP. In that vein, I vote for Tim Duncan right now.

Sure without Nash the Suns lose, but look at us with Webber playing horrible tonight. So far no reb or ast and only 6 pts and 1 TO...

I guess it goes for us too... even though the rest of the team isnt playing well.

this is easy. duncan

duncan brings it on BOTH ends of the floor. everyeone is all OOOO nash who is a worse defender then bibby. duncan plays great D and anchors the best defendsive team in the league. spurs are lead by duncan and they have the best record in the league.

KG puts up the stats, so does kobe but they aren't leaders. just look at the team records. they deserve best stats award.

Duncan or KG, as usual. Nash is overhyped, like Peja was last year. Not that Peja isn't a good player, but obviously he wasn't the MVP last year even though he had a great first half of the season.
