[drupal=86]Welcome to the home opener![/drupal]
It wasn't a great road trip; it wasn't even (in most regards) a good road trip. In fact, the best thing about it is that it's over and our Kings are back in Sacramento for the home opener against the Memphis Grizzlies.
Our Kingsfans.com group is looking forward to a great time as always. Section 224 will be rocking with some of the best fans around (and yes, I am hopelessly prejudiced in that regard).
The road trip may have been a disappointment but there were glimmers of hope for good things to come. This is a rebuilding year, and things won't always be pretty. If we can just get through and watch the season this year for little things to be happy about, we will survive.
There won't be a play-by-play thread this evening as I've been told I cannot bring my laptop to the arena for my own good - and the safety of everyone around me. There was some mention of me jumping up and down and the laptop (named Kevin, BTW) possibly flying into the back of someone's head...
It may not be a return to elite status - yet - but I still firmly believe there is a lot about our young Kings team to be excited about. Heart and hustle, effort and enthusiasm should be the words for them to live by this year. If they bring all of those traits to the court every single game the fans I know will support them and look at those things and not necessarily the result.
It's a year to develop team chemistry, improve the skills of our players and to build for the future.
Let's get ready for some Kings basketball!
