Brunchin' With The Monarchs

Well sorta....I'm tossing out an invite for any interested folks to join in a gathering at a local establishment for brunch and the Old Dominion James Madison game this Sunday at Noon.

We're meeting here:

The reservation is for 11:30 am, which will get us into the tail end of the Maryland North Carolina St. game on the same channel, and give us an opportunity to check out Whittington, Harper and Langhorne as arm chair scouts. ANNNND certainly an opportunity to see the ACC's DeMya Walker commercial at least once...

ODU's game will follow at noon.

Come out and support the managers who have checked in on the board to let us know when their legendary point guard and our current Monarch has dropped in for a visit and how the team is doing.

With their win tonight against George Mason, ODU will be going for their 20th win in row on Sunday.

yea i will try to give a sign since I'm the one who sits behind Coach Larry..so maybe when I'm pulling her chair out during a timeout .I'll be wearin a black shirt and some black n gray checked pants....but I hope we win cuz JMU is a tough place to play...but we can do it!....by the way, TJ broke the CAA 3pt record last game!

I saw that record in the game notes. What was it she broke in the Delaware game, the school record? I also saw in the game notes from a game or two ago that TJ passed Ticha on the ODU all time scoring list...that made me chuckle when I read that for reasons known all too well by Monarchs fans here.

IIRC, the TN Lady Vols will play the Georgia Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on ESPN2. Perhaps we could stick around for that game as well?

I'm not going to be able to stick around to 4pm, I'm only around for brunch and ODU. We're going to be bumping up against the Lakers/Mavs game (and I'm not sure how that will impact our ability to have game sound) or else I'd suggest staying for the Carolina Duke game as well, I might hang for half of that game. But I'm not seeing me there til 4.

It was a baaaaaaaaad karma day all around I 'spose. We arrived at our usual spot with me having been assured when I made the reservation that they did indeed get the channel. Apparently "we have everything in the Direct TV Sports Pack" translated into real-speak as "we have everything in the Direct TV Sports Pack EXCEPT CSN-DC" when I arrived there. We did get to see the Texas Oklahoma and LSU Mississippi St. games tho while we brunched and monitored the ODU score... Next season, I will open my living room as a bar and grill since I apparently get more regional sports channels than our local establishments - we shall party there. My compatriots this morning have already scouted out where a convenient place for me to put up shop will be

From what I saw in what I had cached of the ODU game on my TiVo, it was a rough day in JMU's building for our twins and the Lady Monarchs. In the final couple of minutes I saw, ODU lost a player to what looked to be a concussion and a JMU player who already had a broken nose coming into the game got whacked in the face and lost a tooth or two. I see from my TV listings for this channel than apparently only five people in the Sacramento Metro Area receive, that this game will be replayed at 9am monday morning, I'll see if I can get TiVo to record it and keep an eye out to see if the twins were able to give the shout out. In the part of the game I saw, I only saw behindcoachLarry twin. Or at least I think that's who that one was lol, I'm horrible at twin figuringoutting.


The win streak was snapped today at 19, but the conference title streak I believe is still intact - which I want to say is now at 17 straight Colonial Athletic Association conference titles. And after one more game at home, ODU will head into the CAA tournament and then from there on to hosting the NCAA sub-regional at the Ted the following weekend.
