(TV Alert) College Basketball 11/12

#1
Happy opening weekend for the 2006/2007 Women's College Basketball season. Sunday will be a very good day!!

The ESPN family of channels opens its wcbb coverage on Sunday on ESPN2 with the State Farm TipOff Classic doubleheader

Game 1 is Georgia Rutgers. 10am

Game 2 is DePaul Oklahoma 12:30pm (or immediately following game 1)

As a viewing note: Georgia and Rutgers both are slated to begin the season without their Wade Trophy watch players Tasha Humphrey (disciplinary reasons) and Matee Ajavon(injury) respectively. Epiphany Prince of ridiculous scoring hs game fame (or infamy) last year suits up for the Scarlet Knights for her freshman season.

Game 2, the Paris twins are joined by a nice recruiting class which includes Hakeen Olajuwon's daughter Abi.

If you have access to ESPNU, they will air Ohio St @ Army at 12:30 as well. Those of you who follow wcbb know the heartbreaking story surrounding Army, the women take the court after the sudden death of their coach Maggie Dixon. They will take on OSU and arguably the best senior post player in the nation and presumptive #1 pick in the upcoming WNBA draft, Jessica Davenport.

Finally, if you get a channel that carries the Mountain West Sports Network, they will air Pepperdine @ UNLV at 2:30. Our very own Krista Blunk will be behind the mic providing color commentary for this game and several future games on this network. (If you need more of a Krista fix, she will be handling broadcast duties for the Cal volleyball game which I believe will air live Saturday night 11/11 (or tape delayed at some point next week) on CSN.

Happy viewing!!! :)

Whoa! That's a lot of good info, MBF.

BTW - do you have comcast cable? I have the sports package through them. I still don't know what all that involves. Can you give us some channel #'s for some of these other games?

6th...from what I've dug up...the MWSN games are mostly going to be available in the central time zone states that have teams in the Mt. West Conf so its basically now a regional Comcast channel that isn't available in their regional sports packages since its relatively a brand new channel apparently. College Sports TV (CSTV) channel will pick up some of those games thoughout the season but it doesn't look like they'll have the game on Sunday.

I'm not sure if Comcast has ESPNU, so you may need to check your guide on that. DirectTV does and most of the time the last year or so I'm flipping between that channel and CSTV, and that makes me very :)

But everything else should be available on all services locally if you have whatever level gets you the Deuce and/or CSN.

Thanks, MBF! I 'll check on CSTV. I don't remember seeing ESPNU. I think I only have ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPNN.

Ummmm game 1, wowza!! More amazing freshmen!!

If you saw the game one from the State Farm Tipoff...was it just me, or did Ashley Houts, the freshman PG from Georgia remind anybody else of Kristin Haynie with more quicks? Giminey Xmas...she had a nice day today. I like that she's willing to throw that body around to get a ball, but baby girl, pick your spots with that...you've got a lot more basketball ahead of you.

Rutgers' Epiphanny Price can get to the basket, and play some defense.

OMG, we were saying the same thing! Definitely Haynie-esque....

FWIW, Oklahoma also has signed a recruit (or at least, got a letter of intent) from the sister of Pittsburgh Steeler QB Ben Rothlisberger. Can't remember her name, though.

But it is interesting that so many on that Sooners team has some sporting blood in them! :)
