According to a report via The Athletic, the Sacramento Kings might be on borrowed time with All-Star De'Aaron Fox. Sacramento has not played well and has a record below 500 (13-16). As a result, the Kings have reportedly "entered the danger zone" regarding Fox's future with the team. "While league sources say Fox has not asked for a trade, the former All-Star and his prominent agent are reading the room in Sacramento before deciding what comes next," reports The Athletic.

I’m curious what they are doing to “position” themselves for Fox. Are they ordering a fresh pair of Curry brand Fox shoes for the team? Are they lobbying politicians in Texas to lower gas prices?

That word makes it sound like they are moving players around or freeing up cap space. They aren’t doing jack other than waiting for the green light from Klutch.

Using the media to let the Kings know they're interested. Trying to move themselves to "the front of the line" so to speak

I suppose but even us fans had identified the Spurs as potential suitors before all this news came out. Front of the line is going to be best offer so bring the goods if you want him. Personally I think we can find a better offer elsewhere

Spurs gotta be aggressive with positioning themselves in the media because they don’t really have a huuuuge amount of exciting assets unless they decided to trade Wemby for some reason.

It'd probably be like some combo of Castle+Keldon/Vassell+picks. That's a combo I'd want the 3 FRP+4 pick swaps type of offer.
The thing about Vassell is that his contract is like really really really bad. I’ve also never really been as high on Castle as a prospect as others but if they threw in Sochan in the deal, I’d at least not feel terrible about it.
That said, if we were trying to take a team’s godfather offer, I’d probably prefer a potential Houston deal (not the ****ty one that dude came up with a month ago but something with like Amen/Tari/Whitmore/salary/a bunch of picks that Houston currently doesn’t really have just because I feel like Amen is way ahead of Castle as a prospect).
Also sucks that we’re even having this conversation b

Needs to be Castle and Sochan and salary + picks + swaps, including the right to control the pick swap we already made.

Also hopefully this induces Houston to put together a bigger package. One drawback with Houston and San Antonio is potentially future playoff matchups but I have to imagine two in-state rivals trying to go in big on an all-star talent who still has superstar potential in the correct market is going to be more fruitful than if we're dealing with Miami.

Sucks that we're in this conversation but I think we should have multiple bidders.

I don’t see any deal with SA that I would like. Houston has pieces,
I’ve watched about 15 takes from national podcasters on this and they have almost universally given the kings back a package that’s about half what other stars have garnered. Like Keldon /Collins and draft picks or Fred Vanvleet and picks. I guess we are the farm team for the big market or media darling teams now.

You got the Locked ln Nets host speculating that 2 firsts and Devin Carter should get a deal done for Cam Johnson haha but we are getting 3 middling picks and a veteran in return for a 26 point a game guy. Yeh ok
And I want Margie Robbie none of these will happen

But I’ll take a Jabari Smith and Reed Shepard offer over anything the Spurs can offer

If you have to move Fox because he’s made it clear at some point, then I wouldn’t be opposed to FVV and Eason, Whitmore ……FVV gives us a solid PG and then any combination of young pieces.
or
any combination of young pieces plus picks…..I just think Vivek won’t go for a complete tear down nor do I want to see it

Yeh the only issue is Fred is making 40 mil next year with a team option. He is shooting 29 percent from 3. Still a good player but does he fit our new timeline if we trade Fox? And then the other question is if we pick up his option does that contract have value? I suppose you could just let him walk and see if you have cap space to work with

Sucks that he most likely would be traded to conference teams that would make them contenders and push us back sigh. Rather have young players that have upside than picks since I don’t trust the current regime to pick right
Monte has only made 4 first round picks and I think 3 are likely successes. Second round track record isn’t good but he has made up for it with Keon and maybe Jones. Having said that I’d rather have known commodities and given Monte’s MO he will want that to. Pick packages are either going to be late first rounders if over the next couple drafts or maybe good ones if they are 5-6 years down the road. And that’s still just a maybe. We still have a core of prime or pre-prime players. Give us players that can help us re-tool as opposed to rebuild

I like the Houston trade proposals most, but reading they have no intention to trade Amen. He seems like the the most attractive piece to any trade for Fox.
Was also reading a Fadeaway World piece that has Demar going back to Toronto for Bruce Brown and Agbaji. Also Huerter and seconds to Washington for Kuzma. No Fox or first involved.
Not sure how realistic those proposals are, or if that could swing the needle enough to persuade Fox that the Kings are serious. Somehow though, i’m beginning to think Fox and Klutch are pushing for a trade so might be best to just focus on Houston.
